Nah they are just trying to counter sony showing trailers at their showcase which makes people think the games are going to be exlcusive.
It was a pretty typical showcase, I thought, and so is the tweet. And the reverse will happen at Microsoft’s event, because they’re not gonna announce any platform for games shown but Xbox and PC.
It makes sense, but its still nice to see what's going to be multiplatform like dragon's dogma 2.
For sure, I want to know what I can play on Xbox as I’d prefer, and what I have to play on PS5.

Well Infinite Warfare was on a deep sale on Xbox and I finally talked myself into it. Especially because the opinion of "It's the Call of Duty Campaign for people who don't like Call of Duty campaigns" really pushed me over the edge.

I enjoyed Infinite Warfare. (That's the one with Jon Snow right?)
I don't know that I'd describe it that way. Though admittedly I hadn't played a CoD since the first Black Ops and haven't played one since IW.

If you go for the 100%, let me know if you had to do weird VPN tricks for the multi achievement. :V

I am not intending to go for 100% of achievements. It's one of the reasons I chose to get it on xbox - as I have so few games that I have 100% it's fine to just try it on there. I attempt to platinum every game I can on PS5, but I don't worry as much about all achievements on Xbox. Some notable exceptions though: I want all the cheevos on Gears Tactics, Ori and the Will of the Wisps (that will end me), Pentiment (just a time sink tbh) and Outer Worlds.

You’re not attempt to 100% Ori and the Blind Forest? Is it because you’re a sane person or some other reason?

I don't own it on Xbox, I have it on PC.
I am actually unsure which of these two games is harder to 100%, but I suspect that the first game might slightly beat Will of the Wisps because of the much harder and more unforgiving escape sequences.

Besides requiring a deathless run, Blind Forest also required a no ability points run.
It’s not the first time it happened on Xbox (High on Life, Ghostwire), but it looks like we have another digital-only full priced game, this time for all platforms.

I have mixed feelings about this decision. On one hand, I do respect it if they're trying to keep prices down by avoiding typical distribution - but on the other hand while I personally buy all of my games digitally I'm well aware that physical copies are a fantastic back up to have in case of no internet or other such situations. Minding, it might be similar to Doom 2016, which infamously shipped a disc that was basically worthless with only 7gb of the actual game and you needed to download an additional 44gb from the internet.
Weird that the console digital only version costs more though. Wonder what, if any exclusives they have up their sleeves this time. Probably won't buy, or if anything not at launch/full price. Control burned Remedy for me.

Really? I thought Control was absolutely bonkers and a wonderful game. Especially when you get into the expansion pack that obviously and directly leads to Alan Wake 2.

Yeah, shame about the games they played with the Series X versions and save incompatibility. I played the original version on game pass, and would have bought DLC/the upgraded version, but I couldn't transfer my save 'cause they considered them "two separate games". (AKA "fuck you that's why")
Yeah, but that seemed entirely the fault of the publisher.

I have no idea frankly. I just bought the complete edition, played it and enjoyed it immensely. I hope Jesse turns up in Alan Wake 2, because she sure has a good reason to do so.

Control the game was okay to me.
Due to console exclsuvity things that were very poorly explained by Remedy in their blogs and stuff, the later content became available for purchase on my terms long enough for me to have moved on with no desire to go back. I had a preordered and all that stuff too, would be the short of it. It also left me less inclined to support them at full price anymore.

Ah, I had no idea about any of that because I got Control once they had the complete edition and it was a very good time. Control came out during the dark years when I owned a board game store and played like, 5 video games total in that four year period due to working nearly 7 days a week for 12-14 hours a day.
Warhammer Chaosbane is a pretty good ARPG so far, really fills the console Diablo hole. They gave the base game away on GwG awhile back but the the complete edition is also only $3.99 right now.
No idea what endgame stuff is like but running around Nuln and Prague smiting Chaos as a Dwarf Slayer is good fun. Plus it's got a lot of nice fiddly bits to mess around with, feel like I have way more influence on how my character plays than I did in D3.
Plus the slayer uses a chain axe as a massive grapple for his dodge and his armor models are just different tats, beards, and mohawks

Yeah, the only things I remember about Control the game would be the hallway sequence, the color grey, and smashing up tons of office equipment whenever possible.

I must be the only person getting "Sonic Forces" vibes from Alan Wake II. When they kept dropping the price as more pre-release feedback for the game rolled in. None of these companies want to be nice and give consumers a break on the price, let alone give up impulse retail box sales if they can manage decent numbers. It rather reeks of a lack of confidence that the game can compete with its $70 bretheren.
I mean it could just be the reason they’re stating it is. Ie, retail products are expensive to produce, they don’t get as big a cut, it requires deals and compromises with chain stores, and they don’t think it’s the kind of game that will be a shelf impulse buy. I’m not saying it’s the right call from a consumer perspective, but I’m not ready to jump straight to a lack of confidence in the game. I mean redfall is still like 70 bucks and you can buy it in stores. So maybe more companies should have more realistic expectations and target expectations

I was thinking of mentioning the fact Redfall or even Forspoken are $70, which I think it's hard to argue either game is really worth it. So I don't think them going just a digital release is any sign of poor quality. Let me know when they don't let reviewers get code until 1-2 days before release and set the embargo on reviews until after the game comes out.
Remedy haven't really set sales on fire but they haven't released any genuinely shite or bad games.
Edit: Speaking of bafflingly priced games for what it is. I mean, I have no idea if anyone actually wanted Gollum, let alone paying another $10 for Elven dialog on top.
Hahah, I remember just checking yesterday their official statement, "We don't have plans to bring this to any console (yet)." You almost had me, Steam! Anyway, I'm on board!

Alan Wake II realizing they are Forspoken or Redfall, and not say Jedi Survivor, is exactly what I mean by lacking confidence. It might be the better strategy than flopping at $70, but either way you aren't getting a great product.
If they had always penciled this in as a more budget game with modest expectations, that's one thing, but I thought we were expecting an actual AAA game prior. $60 console/$50 PC feels like they just took $10 off the price they were planning, moreso having to justify no physical release when that is not usually something justified for lower budget games.
Also funny to bring up Remedy's solid track record considering how Arkane's looked before Redfall. But yes, bad review embargoes are usually a better indicator. Although somehow Doom (2016) was similarly scared of reviews.

$50 on PC is actually kind of surprising to me.
Maybe trying to soften the sting of Epic store exclusivity for the Steam diehards.
