I feel like this crisis of faith comes with a bit less bite after you've seen someone go Super Saiyan Ultra God
Like sure sure this particular crisis can't be resolved with my ability to shoot laser beams out my eyeballs whatever but "I'm not even special beyond my ability to leap tall buildings in a single bound and run faster than a speeding bullet and shoot lasers out my eyeballs you nerd" is stretching it.
I feel like a bit of an asshole for not being able to properly engage with Abaddon's exploration of nihilism
And yet being so happy to see a good line like "to break infinities requires only one motion" again
That's kind of what I want from the comic
I'm still excited to re-read when it's all settled, but I do feel like my prior experience of the setting grates against the nihilism chapter. While it's true that the universe is presented as locked in an eternal cycle, all the characters we meet seem to actually be pretty capable of molding the world to their will within that framework. So a this bit about how aw man why even bother trying is hard to sell when people can Flex Mentallo their way to the birth of new stars or cut holes in time with a sufficiently sharp knife.
It may still be true in the context of the story, but it's hard for me to engage with at the moment.
It's totally different but as it came up recently, I feel like Unsounded has done similar shit at various times and it plays better because that's a horrorshow of a world where the characters we meet are up against things that seem more outside of their capacity to handle.
Granted both of these people were average unremarkable college students. They survived and grew through horrific circumstances that should have killed them both multiple times but they started at midline healthy american young adults. The magic key in Allison’s head makes the magic white flame but the jumping over buildings and cleaving demons is all training.
Unremarkable. Not special. But you can grab that special something yourself.
"A billionaire left me untold riches and people expect me to do something with it to make the world a better place? Gahh. But if I feed the hungry they'll just get hungry later. I'm just going to sit in my mansion."
"A billionaire left me untold riches and people expect me to do something with it to make the world a better place? Gahh. But if I feed the hungry they'll just get hungry later. I'm just going to sit in my mansion."
I mean in this metaphor...
I actually can't even think of a way to continue this metaphor because the last thing that happened was that Allison gathered the most powerful allies she possibly could and then got completely and utterly decimated so completely that she was left a total wreck and most of her allies(the real ones even close to capable of mattering in this fight) were killed. She watched one of the people she loved die for her and had her body ripped literally limb from limb.
Ya'll can't see why Allison might feel a bit like she can't win?

I feel like this is a very dumb metaphor to try and apply to this situation
allison hasn't had a character development since she made out with her clone inside her mind so it's not surprising that we were due
I don't remember this henta- I mean page
Also, Zaid just went from someone who I didn't have any real opinions on due to him not getting any screentime, to Real Fuckin Cool Guy way faster than I thought possible. Hopefully when Allison works through her shit she recruits him to her gang.
Yeah I know… but as much as that’s a great sentiment folks kinda got a lot on their plate right now, big war going on. Could just be a bunch of +10 to Not Dying keys. Bit of fire resistance maybe. No fall damage mod.

Maybe some "Immune to getting ripped in fucking half by Jagganoth" in there somewhere

I mean, this is a classic superman dilemma: even with all his power he's still not able to make everything good, end all suffering, etc. Superman can't punch most problems.

Honestly this is pretty much how games are innovating now. You could optimize the perfect run given enough time and resources. Now lets top you off with a time limit , break the game space down into randomized runs, and randomize your assets so you have to fall back on things you never used before
Against the Storm dropps in 2 weeks and I cannot wait.
Actually choosing violence is the correct answer, Allison's problem before was treating every conflict like a multi choice problem when the answer was just more violence.

reach heaven through violence is kinda the whole thing
"And I remember...I...I...I cried...I wept like some grandmother. I wanted to tear my teeth out. I didn't know what I wanted to do. And I want to remember it. I never want to forget it. I never want to forget. And then I realized...like I was shot...Like I was shot with a diamond...a diamond bullet right through my forehead...And I thought: My God...the genius of that. The genius. The will to do that. Perfect, genuine, complete, crystalline, pure. And then I realized they were stronger than we. Because they could stand that these were not monsters...These were men...trained cadres...these men who fought with their hearts, who had families, who had children, who were filled with love...but they had the strength...the strength...to do that. If I had ten divisions of those men our troubles here would be over very quickly. You have to have men who are moral...and at the same time who are able to utilize their primordal instincts to kill without feeling...without passion...without judgement...without judgement. Because it's judgement that defeats us."
The last arc covered how swords/violence are not the answer and Alison is reeling from that
This arc is going to start with explaining why choosing not to do anything at all is also not the answer
The arc/comic will end with Third Option
Edit: oh yeah and repeating the mistakes of the past is also not going to work, RE: rewinding the wheel
I thought it was pretty heavily implied that if gog had helped with the big spear that they would have defeated the jaggahog
Honestly, given the trajectory of the story, I imagine it would have ended up similarly to where we are now, where Solomon somehow has delayed the inevitable, that too would have had a similar effect on the Jaggahog. And then the demiurges would turn on each other in the aftermath for some reason or other, because cycles does what cycles do, they turn unto a wheel.

Eat at Arbys
Nah. The chapter is called Breaker of Infinities, not Braker.
You know what? Nanowrimo's cancelled on account of the world is stupid.

In today's Pants: Alfie!
well the alt-text for the comic is "this entire comic is about how swords are super fucking cool but actually not very cool guys sorry"
"Behold! The awesome fires of god. The limitless power of pure creation itself.
Look carefully! Observe how it is used for the same purpose a man might use an especially sharp rock."

I don't think so, he went out of his way to bonk the guard with his flying sword's hilt rather than eviscerating them, Zaid seems cool
at no point has k6bd promoted pacifism

And I'm certain that it was outright stated the opposite, that fighting Jag has not only never worked, but WOULD never work.
Aaand then they'd probably have to deal with Gog-Agog.
Nah. The chapter is called Breaker of Infinities, not Braker.
yeah "we have to defeat jagganoth!" is a red herring objective
the demiurges are not peaceful. nor are they the first of their kind. kill them all. others will follow. others will try to do what they did.
and that's not even getting into metatron
