Honymoon in Athens - things to do that we might miss.

Hi guys,

My partner and I are getting married in a month, and having our honeymoon in Athens for a week around the start of November. Neither of us has ever been.

So my ask is to anyone who has been themselves, who might be more familiar - do you have any suggestions as to things to do in or immediately around the city?

We have three 'big' activities set up already - day trips to Delphi, the temple of Poseidon and boat tours of the nearby islands. We have these set to every 'other' day, on the between days we're looking to just chill, explore, eat, drink, whatever. Does anyone have any recommendations for those types of day?

One of the podcasts I listen to is called: Let's talk about Myths, Baby

And she recently did a series of short videos on Instagram of things to be sure to see when visiting Athens/Greece, they can be found here:

I don't think these are outside of what you already have planned, but they might give you some more insight of things to do at those sites, I hope you have a lovely honeymoon :)

The Museum of Cycladic art is well worth a morning/afternoon. It's located very centrally (next to a whole bunch of other museums) and well worth a visit. They have three permanent exhibition. Cyclaidic, Cypriotic and Ancient greek art. Cyclaidic and cypriotic art are relatively unknown aspects of aegean art (everyone tends to focus on the ancient greeks and minoans).

Just don't stay there for lunch since the cafe is overrated, overly expensive and (at least during normal tourist season) packed. Go somewhere else to eat, Athens is full of decent restaurants where you can have a decent lunch.

    <--- Cycladic art is rad

    For history:
    Benaki museum
    Akropolis museum
    Venizelios Mansion

    contemporary greek art:
    ΕΜΣΤ

    bars/nightlife:
    in and around Monistaraki

more alternative, less gentrified area with lots of cafés little stores
    Exarchia

    trashy big clubs and Rebetiko:

It's been a few years, but I remember Tavern of Psarras (unlike many "touristy/romantic" places) kind of living up to its reputation.
