[Conspiracy Theories] - Alex Jones Is Made To Pay For His Lies

AngelHedgieAngelHedgie Registered User regular
And he's going to pay - a lot:

The author is a New York Times reporter who has covered Jones' disinformation in detail.

Note that this is just the compensatory damages portion - under the CT Unfair Trade Practices Act (CUTPA), the judge determines punitive damages:

The author is an attorney and legal commentator.

This is a win for truth and justice.

There is no fucking way Jones can raise this kind of money. This will definitely bankrupt his companies, the questions are how much can they actually recoup and what will he do after the fact?

With some luck, the bankruptcy proceedings will find evidence of fraud and embezzlement as it is entirely inconceivable that Jones has clean books.

I mean, considering the bankruptcies themselves are bullshit, I am sure

I feel like the lawyers for the families in the Texas case were already half way there. They had the documentation from their forensic accountants showing that he was siphoning off hundreds of millions of dollars from the core business into shady and questionable accounts setup in other people's names.

That alone should have had alarm bells ringing all across the FBI's white collar crime division. And with everyone holding their cards close to their chest, who knows who else is digging into this. With Jones' big mouth, I very much doubt any legitimate investigation is going to surface before they have him dead to rights.

Aren’t there other trials? Gotta wonder how losing control of his company, compounded with paying shitloads in damages, is going to impact his ability to spew filth on the air. One can only hope he’s well and truly done.

That's the same line he's been pedaling since the trials began. Ever since he knew he was turbofucked to hell and back once he got forced to defend his actions.

"If they can come after me, a wealthy white man with his own media company, what do you think they'll do to you?"

Given this is an amount Jones will never pay off, I’m getting a lot of joy thinking about how Jones will have to meet with Mark Bankston like all the fucking time for the rest of his life to give an account of every dollar that flows through his wallet

The only thing that's gonna stop Jones from going on internet television and terrorizing folks is if he's physically incapable of doing so. The bankruptcy trial might reveal a bunch of actual financial crimes though so here's hoping.

I think the money is only going to slow him down temporarily.
I wish he'd be punished by not being able to participate in radio, television or internet broadcasts in any way again.

Also, I thought courts don't really try to get more money than you're worth and that you'll be able to earn because it could be considered exceptionally cruel and thus go against the 4th. So if AJ just has a lawyer worth anything they appeal on the grounds that the punitive damages violate the 4th Amendment and thus get less or no punishment at all.

Cruel and unusual is restricted to penalties by the state. In a court of equity like this the damages are the harm to the party. If it's more than you have, sucks to be you, that's what bankruptcy is for.

I'm pretty sure With a billion dollars of debt he's pretty much done; Like this much money in the hole means that he's likely to have to sell pretty much everything (including info warz) that he has any stake in and anything that could make him money is going to be garnished.

No matter how low you set the bar, Jones finds a way under it:

Watching the Sandy Hook verdict live from his studio, Alex Jones makes an urgent plea to his audience for cash, and tells them that none of the money they send him will go the the families because he has filed for bankruptcy.

This fucking toad, this fucking filth....

I worked for the company that supplied CAMA(computer assisted mass appraisal) software to Newtown, CT. Other than being what they used to calculate their assessment of property data, the company provides a public facing website for property values. One of the things they latched onto was that there were 'sales on Christmas! government transferring property to the crisis actors!'

No you fucks, no sale is going to happen on 12/25 and SALES.SALEDT is a fucking required field so placeholders had to be selected where that field was NULL.

After the tragedy we received so many calls and assholes using emails and recordings to make conspiracy videos on youtube. A friend of mine in support had to request google to disassociate his work emails from all their shit.

Alex jones encouraged and continually fanned these flames of ignorance. He deserves to live out the rest of his life in a barrel with straps on compared to the suffering for the families and the poison he pumped to the general public.

Alex, did you know falsely declaring bankruptcy to prevent collection of assets is, itself, a crime?

You should, because if you had stopped talking for two seconds during your trial in Texas, you would have heard the judge telling you exactly that.

Anyway, enjoy poverty and, presumably, jail, at this pace.

The fact that he immediately repeated the same thing for Uvalde and Parkland shows he hasn't learned a damn thing. Also apparently spent today calling for the execution of people who make covid vaccines.

I feel like at some point this behavior has to cross into the criminal.

  • GaddezGaddez Registered User regular
The thing about him E-begging is that it isn't even a bad move on his part; if his audience of say... 10 million people each send the equivelant of 100 bucks that's enough to get him out of this hole, and while some of you may think that's him getting off easy think of it this way; that's a billion dollars the RNC can't access in an election year.

I always remember the Bullshit episode about conspiracy theroies, that ultimately they are made out of fear. Fear that our world really is chaotic, and its easier to believe in a made up order even an evil one, than just the chaos that we live in. Why did your school get shot up? Because someone awful did something randomly awful, and there is nothing you can do differently to prevent it.

Was listening to a podcast about conspiracy theories where they explain that for fundamentalist Christian flat-Earthers, there is nothing in existence but the Earth with a dome over. In other words, because the Bible only specifically mentions the creation of Earth, nothing else exists except a snowglobe-style Earth (but flat!) hanging out in the void.

And the explanation for this was that, whereas most people are amazed at the size of the universe when confronted with it, fundamentalists are terrified by so much beyond their control and explanation so they literally make a mental effort to seal off the rest of the universe from their mind because it's simply too big and scary. So even though a domed flat Earth is real fucking stupid, they can understand that idea and human existence within it so they willingly discard reality for the comforting, obvious lie.

Which was a way to think about that bullshit that had never occurred to me before because the idea of mentally walling off most of the universe because the concept is uncomfortable has simply never crossed my mind.
