Every time I read it I hate myself and the world more. Mostly because
I believe that what Veidt did was totally...not right...but not wrong. Necessary?

On that note, it is still a totally awesome book. Everyone talk about how awesome it is.

Also! Apparently the movie adaptation...is set in the present.

what the fuck

    Yeah, but:

That seems to indicate (along with other problems) that it's set in the present, like Hayter's script.

Not a one. Gerard Butler may or may not be in it is about as much as anyone actually knows.

AICN told me once that Patrick Wilson was Nite Owl, Jude Law was Ozymandias, and Keanu Reeves was rumored to be Doc Manhattan

I like the first two, the third not so much

I think Keanu might be uniquely qualified to portray someone who has completely lost touch with his humanity and is amazed by everything that happens around him because he is not really connected with 'now' in the traditional sense.

The director was trying to get Tom Cruise to be Ozymandias. Tom Cruise was apparently really really close to signing on, but for some reason, it didn't happen.
Sort of a bummer. I think Tom Cruise would have been a good Ozymandias.

No, Tom Cruise wanted to do it but Zack Snyder (the director) basically turned him down.

I remember the first time I read Watchmen. I was like 17 and found the trade in my dad's old box of comics. It was Christmas vacation so no school. I sat down and read it cover to cover in like two days. It was magical. I probably reread it once a year now.

I'm sure the movie will be a a complete fucking travesty on all accounts.

I remember that from the old superman script by Kevin Smith.

Mark Waid actually did put a Giant Robot Spider in Superman: Birthright, and it didn't feel out of place at all.

And Giant Robot Spiders would've only made Returns better.
