DS2 is trash. All my homies hate DS2.
I feel like a solid 2/3rds of Gears characters are just Batista in different hair and makeup anyway, so why the hell not just let him Nutty Professor that shit.
Everything looks beautiful when you're young and pretty
I just hope Batista finally gets to be in a Gears movie, he's wanted it for like a decade
I don't really want a Gears of War movie or TV show to happen, but will acknowledge that casting anyone other than Dave Bautista as Marcus would be a grave misstep.

I was going to say "I'm curious how they'll find a real person with Gears of War neck" and then you mentioned Batista and wow, that is actually perfect
I just hope Batista finally gets to be in a Gears movie, he's wanted it for like a decade
There is nobody who looks more like a Gears of War Character than him. Not casting him would be the foolish.
Sure, but then what do you do for the rest of the cast?
Having Batista be the big muscle guy is great when you only need the one BMG.
When the entire cast is supposed to be BMGs, and you have one actual BMG there, every other actor is going to look out of place.
Maybe you just Willy Wonka (2005) it, and have Batista be every BMG? Just cut and pasted a dozen times.

When I was playing Gears 5, at one point my wife looked over and said “why the hell is this nerdy scientist in a lab coat built like John Cena?”
And yeah, that pretty much sums up Gears. It’s just so aggressively dumb that you can’t help but love it at least a little bit.

ah sorry, that was supposed to be part of a longer post, but that seems to be lost to drafts now
but the image itself was a side of warcraft that the actual in-game story didn't really show you at all
here's lothar carrying a baby and leading a little girl along (who herself seems to be trying to care for her toy bear)
and you can see that they're a little ragged looking, underdressed for the weather, but bracing their way through it
showing the refugee side of warcraft made for an interesting contrast and added a little bit of flavor to a story that was otherwise pretty boilerplate fantasy
I'm sure by now WoW and Hearthstone and whatever else tacked on a billion pieces of lore onto Lothar's story, and the kid in that picture is probably a named character now with an epic quest level or whatever, but at the time it was something that really whet the imagination, just a little glimpse into a more complex world that the player could fill in on their own
really that's true for a lot of the early blizzard manuals, they didn't quite have the storytelling abilities to convey everything they wanted to say in game, so the supplementary materials carried a lot of weight
I am way behind on my wow lore so that may be the case but other than a statue of Lothar's last charge in the burning steppes, not much has changed.
I just hope Batista finally gets to be in a Gears movie, he's wanted it for like a decade

Eh, the Bautista version of Gears 5 exists and he just doesn't have the gravely voice you need from Marcus.

Honestly I'd just go cast other wrestlers to fill out the cast. Big E can play Cole, John Cena for Baird.

They did actually put Bautista in Gears 5, first as a multiplayer/Horde mode skin for Marcus, he even does the Batista Bomb as an execution https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mv_sWci3jb8
Can anyone explain to me what the hell the Twin does in Slice and Dice?
And you guys are much much better at this game than I am. Haven't come close to winning Hard Mode yet and have had some absolutely wild shit rolls. Like four Xs in a row on a character with only one X side.
I am in the business of saving lives.

I consider the Twin the logical progression of the Statue. Any items you have on one will clone itself to the other, so load them up with things that make their dice interesting, and suddenly you have twice the power you did before.
i actually did an amateur podcast with former poster @OmnipotentBagel on the world of warcraft lore for a bit. we don't make money off of it or anything so i think dropping it here in case people are interested doesn't violate the self-promotion stuff. https://soundcloud.com/lore-and-order
it's very amateur, the mic quality isn't amazing, and more than once she gets too sleepy to respond halfway through an episode but forgets to say so, but it might tickle some of you, idk
My big issue with Warcraft lore, at least during WoW, is that all the good shit would be buried in a book or comic and the actual game would maybe have a "Yeah remember that thing you never got to see? It was totally awesome, you should've been there" oblique reference or cameo.

God I hate when franchises do this kind of thing. WoW definitely has that as a problem between expansions or even it feels during god damn expansions. Its one thing I felt really made BFA and Shadowlands suck is that so many of the interactions with story weren't in the game.
Well that and the mechanics, characters and overall story of both expansions was awful.
Hopefully dragonflight goes back to a panderia style contained story.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.

well yeah, where do you think you are, Metropolis?
One of my favourite theories/ideas that i wish i saw done a bit more is that GOtham and Metropolis are actualyl the same city - just separated by a massive fuck off river in between the two sides. It's a bit dumb, but rather awesome

Yeah the writing team on the WoW team had a lot of totally competent, even good writers. The best writing is often in side quests that have nothing to do with the main plot where someone just got to have fun in the corner of a world doing something to give you 25% of a level. But like many games, the decisions about the plot are not really made by the writers. Those are decisions of game direction, programming, art teams, the collaborative nature of these giant projects.
And I wouldn't even necessarily say that the writers can't work within those limitations of the main plot - but the need to move from one plot point to another when you're given maybe a 60 second cutscene to do that is where they falter. They have to be incredibly mercenary, and it often just doesn't work.

The other issue is that WoW itself is nearly two decades old now (18 years in a few weeks, in fact), which in itself was based on a decade of Warcraft games/books/etc, and with how they design their WoW expansions, they need to keep putting more and more powerful things in the players way. They've damn near tapped into every single big bad, evil force or whatever that's ever even passingly mentioned in Warcraft history, as well as generating a ton of new shit whole cloth.
Like, what is even left at this point? I'm pretty sure they've killed or imprisoned every single major foe at one point in time.

Isn’t that kind of how it was portrayed in the Snyder movies? Kind of a San Francisco and Oakland kind of deal.
I’ve always been partial to Metropolis being in Delaware and Gotham being more or less Trenton.

It was a choice in Legion the various guild halls basically had quests that touched on previous expansion zones and them dealing with the legion. Like monks obviously had panderia, priests dealt with wrath zones, death knights dabbled into the various fallen horde and alliance people of the past.
If only we could have that kind of reason to play various classes to see story instead of the shadowlands felt unconnected despite being connected house system.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.

Oh that's easy, the Void Lords, and the alt-universe Army of the Light.
She's the final boss of the second raid of Shadowlands but the fight ends at 50% (or hilariously, 45% on mythic)
Then Zovaal gave her back her soul so she feels sad about what she's done. She has the punishment of walking through Superhell and freeing the soul of every person wrongfully sent there.
I always thought Gotham was supposed to be chicago and Metropolis new york.
I vastly prefer the opposite.
Clark's a Midwest boy, the big city he goes to is going to be the Midwest one. Chicago is the city where they invented skyscrapers, but it's also big and sprawling, plenty of space to both fly above and race across town.
Gotham is old, at least by American standards. It's old money, old buildings, old secrets. And it's at least partially on an island, for that matter. Also Gotham is a nickname for NYC, they're incredibly blatant with this one honestly.
Isn't it Metropolis is in New York and Gotham in New Jersey?

More importantly what's the over-under on the use of Mad World
Is that used in marketing, is that a credits song, is it the title theme of the series
Because I'll be honest, outside of like, Ice T, and the chainsaw bayonet, that's what I associate most strongly with Gears of War

To hell and back.

And then when the game got a Series X/S patch, they added the ability to replace Marcus in the campaign with Batista, and he even rerecorded all of Marcus' dialog
