I suspect it’s because Mayday’s got the OP, and he’s part of the team that made the Steam version, so despite him being a long-time contributor to the forums it’s a little too close to self promotion.

Just a guess, though.
You'd think there'd be an official mod statement in the thread were that the rationale.
I know nobody else cares, but I'm bummed out. I played over a thousand hours on and off since the open beta, I thought I was going to be able to hop on and complain about the new cards forever. At least they've said they plan to keep the servers on for a long time, but I can't imagine there will be many players on them a couple years after content ends.

As a long time Dwarf Fortress player, I am definitely struggling a bit with the new layout. Turns out, I rely pretty heavily on muscle memory to play Dwarf Fortress. The amount of time it takes to simply build a bed or a door has definitely increased, or at least gotten more awkward.
That said, the graphics and music are great, and building stairs is so much better. Used to be so needlessly complicated.
...
Also Krugg's launch day stream vod is up on his YouTube channel now and it's...nearly 12 hours long, holy shit. Guess that's my tomorrow sorted.

Yeah, or it could be a totally random mistake.
they meant to close the old thread and got the new one by mistake (I think), the new thread is open again
It's a fair point that mayday is involved with making the game now but someone was definitely gonna make that thread either way so there's no harm in him doing it, that rule is much more about discouraging drive-by SEO spam and paid marketing shills than longstanding members of the community who happened to later get involved in the development of the game. So I doubt that was the issue.
In case anyone else needed an push to get into the new DF version that hasn't already been lurking in the G&T Threads, I present to you, a very appropriate automatically generated name:
For those that may not know, a normal world age is somewhere between 5 and 500 years. This took three hours to generate, and is only a medium sized map on the default population size.
That is legitimately stupendously fast. Toady One has outdone himself.
Yeah I set it, honestly expecting it to run til the morning. Was out doing other stuff, came back ~3 and a half hours later and it was finished and I was just floored.
I came second in my first match of PUBG. The end game was me hiding in a shed (my buddy dead), seeing the last survivor of the other team outside the window and shooting them in the head... unfortunately they had picked up The Iconic PU Helmet (not that I knew that at the time) and just casually soaked up the damage as they turned around and shot me dead.
Also I like how this is the game where everybody goes jeeze I dunno little sticker shock here right, the fuckin dwarf fortress guy is like please medicene to live
To me being crushed implies a distant second, but I don't know if Steam tells you how big a difference there is?
Number of Steam reviews kinda works as a rough indicator of sales. AC Valhalla has 229 Steam reviews, while DF has 4443, nearly 20 times as much.
I would say that can be accurate but in this case its wildly not considering how most of those reviews have probably been around for over a decade or more now actually, more like 4 years, that's only when it came to steam originally afaik
Undead are pretty strong in dwarf fortress because they remain active threats until their heads get pulverized IIRC? They don't succumb to pain or bleeding out or organ damage or dismemberment like living creatures do.
The no pain thing seems to be the real difficulty for a lot of enemies. Werebeasts also feel no pain which makes them particularly destructive.

Ironically, every single character stopped where that carbot animation starts
I did it.
I played my first round of Fortnite.
Those teens didn't know what hit them.
Some people shot at my wolf buddy.
I killed them.
an appropriate response
I was expecting at least $40 for it
I dunno! I PM'd the G&T mods about it but that was only like an hour ago.

That's just John Gwent, the discoverer of Gwent, explaining that the Gwent mines have finally run dry.
I have played three games and won three games.
Obviously time to uninstall.
Yeah, it's weird they used a picture of Bobby Kotick on a story about CD Projekt RED, right?
Doesn't it throw you up against bots for your first few matches or so?
Shhhhhhhhhhhh
Let him have this

Thank you!
The Naruto who was just standing there and took four shotgun blasts was definitely a real child!

They were probably on the Tik Tok. That'll teach 'em!

I did the same thing with Fall Guys.
Decided to go out in a high and uninstalled.
Assassin's Creed with the steam header buyout getting absolutely crushed by Dwarf Fortress is some chefkiss 2022 stuff.
Number of Steam reviews kinda works as a rough indicator of sales. AC Valhalla has 229 Steam reviews, while DF has 4443, nearly 20 times as much.
I would!
Hey everybody, Dwarf Fortress makes Assassins Creed look like a piece of SHIT, ubisoft is fucking DEAD, fuck them! Fuck them!! Fuck them!!!!

Whole game seems built to speedrun the mines of moria to reach the status of the place by the time the fellowship get there.
yous know people exaggerate things for comedic effect sometimes, right?
