I'm glad I got you some new books and authors that you're not familiar with, and yes powered armor military fiction was kind of a running theme with this selection. But also the differing viewpoints of the authors on military authority in governing and how well that's likely to turn out.
in 75% of those books: very poorly.
But yes, all of the books are military sci-fi, but they show a large variance in point of view of military action.

I've been sick all this week with the wonderful flu. I went to a Christmas party on Saturday and then it hit me on Monday like a ton of bricks so I've been out for the count most of this week. Today I've been feeling better but haven't done a lot besides trying to work from home. I had settled in to watch some Netflix when I checked my phone and saw I got a package delivered in the mail. I headed outside in the cold to the mailbox and after getting the mail/package, I see an Amazon box by my door. Usually, I get a notification about Amazon but not this time so I picked it up and thought it might be a present.

Gypsy wouldn't go by the box so I just had to take a pic of her staring at me, wondering what I was doing.

I had thought about getting this when it first came out but I didn't. I had other things to buy for Christmas for others so I set that aside but now I can read it and be in awe of all the pictures. It looks so cool and is so freaking heavy. It's AMAZING.

AS FUCK. This is pretty awesome. I don't really have holiday decorations so this is a cool way to start showing some holiday spirit.
Inside the parchment was this lil cutie! The design is that of a Final Fantasy XIV job crystal: the Red Mage!
Red Mage is my primary job in FFXIV, pictured here near the end of the last expansion (with my little Red Panda buddy on her shoulder):
This is all in additional to the Steam gift of Midnight Suns which, uh, yeah:
I'm quite fond of it! Probably gonna dive in and finish my first story run over this weekend.

And quick explanation of my choices:
1) Snacks and Seasoning - I'm originally from South Louisiana so I wanted to share some of the "flavors" of the region. Since I figured a 20lb sack of live crawfish might freak you out, I went a bit more restrained. Zapp's was pretty much our go-to potato chip growing up there. Tony's is basically required seasoning in ANY Cajun household, and Slap ya Mama is a more local variant that I enjoy the flavor AND the name. Both can be used on basically any food in the place of salt so don't be afraid to experiment!
2)The Christmas tree spawned from a unicorn horn I made for my sister's Horse and a decision to "kick it up a notch". I'm quite happy with how it turned out and it has like a million different settings. Also, there's a brightness setting to take it from "OH GOD MY EYES" to only "see a opthamalogist" so you can look at it without welders goggles.
3)The red mage crystal I ran across on Etsy (they have ALL of them) and thought it was super cool. It's a necklace because that's how they sell it but it could totally be a keychain or hung on a rearview mirror or whatever.

I've never played a Ratchet and Clank game, so I'm excited to try this one out! And I've heard nothing but good things about Guardians of the Galaxy, whose tagline is "You've got this. Probably." which is fantastic. I've been juggling the charging cord on my two controllers, so heck yeah on the new charging station.
Unfortunately, there was no gift message, so I don't know whom to thank!

So it arrived, and I put it off to the side ...

Gotta say, I have no idea what to expect upon trying this ...
