My Aunt doesn't rewatch movies. She has absolutely no interest in something she's already seen. It's utterly fascinating.
I don't rewatch movies either, unless the movie is part of a tradition, like, the great pumpkin, a Charley Brown Christmas, the original Home alone, etc

I'm the same way with games. But even more so there since its a larger amount of time and a more experiential sorta thing and I only do that alone so the one out for movies doesn't exist with games.
I would rather play a brand new just decent game than replay my favorite game ever.
The sense of discovery is just a very large part of my enjoyment of media I guess!

It had the bones of a good Shane Black comedy but unfortunately was really let down by, well, almost everything except David Harbour. Awful dialogue, tissue thin characterization, muddy and choppy action scenes that were rarely allowed to build choreographic momentum, wild swings in tone that frequently killed the pacing*, dire acting from the secondary villains ... It wasn't bad, a bad movie wouldn't have irritated me this much. It was an average movie that occasionally allowed you to see glimpses of the good movie hiding underneath it.
in particular, there was the potential for giving Santa a really eerie and subversive mythos, the first flash back to his ancient origins was chilling. But apart from a smidge of well chosen music, they squandered this opportunity along with all the others
*"What if a sentimental children's Christmas movie but also die hard with extreme gore" is a cute two minute joke but if you make it an entire feature you gotta put more meat on those bones. You've made a film intended for adults, so at least try to give it a mental age above five.
I absolutely loved every minute of it. It was exactly what I went in wanting it to be. However, all of your complaints are 100% correct. It just worked for me.
Oh but I do agree about the mythos. I thought we were going to get something really cool out of that and it amounted to nothing
I think the whole 'no spoilers' thing is out of control, even around here. It's a movie thread. People are going to talk about plots and stories. Sure, keep common courtesy when discussing big twists within the recent past, but I've never understood "I know what happens and now I can't enjoy the movie" mindset.
If I hear about a movie that should be gone in blind, like Barbarian, I'll try to do that, but I don't lose any enjoyment from knowing what happens.
you don't need to understand it to respect it

WW84 was extremely misguided and Gadot's performance was a huge step backwards from her pretty good performance in the first movie. I dunno if that means they shouldn't do another one, but it does feel odd that they brought back Henry Cavill and have moved on everywhere else

That article mentions that cavil’s full return as Superman are an unknown and the return as stated was said before gunn’s big meeting.
I really don’t think we know what’s happening other than WW3 isn’t, and even then the article is very particular that it’s Jenkins’ current treatment of it. Not that gadot would never be her anymore or that she wouldn’t have another movie.
Honestly the casting is like, the only good thing about the snyder justice league movies. Other than Miller, obviously. But Momoa, Affleck, Cavill, Gadot, and Fisher are good and would be wasted if they still want to do it.
Also unlikely is a sequel to Black Adam. Despite the hype surrounding the movie of launching a new corner of DC, a lot of it led by star Dwayne Johnson, the movie has only grossed $385 million worldwide and insiders at the studio say the movie, which cost more than $190 million to produce (two sources peg the actual cost at $230 million, not including marketing), will be lucky to break even, even considering ancillary revenue. Even if the movie does eke out a minimal profit, any follow-up’s inherent rising costs dim the prospect of a sequel.
Johnson hoped to carve out his own piece of the DC pie, but multiple sources say his playing up of a returning Cavill and his own involvement with DC may not be endearing him to the new management. Johnson and Cavill are both managed by Dany Garcia, who is also Johnson’s producing partner. The perception of Adam turning a profit or not is a conflagration now being waged in public, with Johnson tweeting the movie would net over $50 million after a Variety story said the movie would lose over $50 million theatrically.
lol
edit: also the whole TL;DR of the article seems to be the only thing for sure happening at DC going forward is Batman, and it wouldn't be surprising if Gunn just does a full reset when he starts work there on everything else. For everything other than Cavill and maybe Momoa, that wouldn't be something I'd be against
Watching the 2000 XMen for first time since idk, probably 2001. Gosh is it not ideal in a lot of ways Bryan Singer made this movie. Gosh these costumes are so lame I can't even believe it. But we all love Patrick and Ian right. Well not when Patrick has to exposition dump on Wolverine for like 10 minutes

X-Men looked good compared to Batman and Robin and basically nothing else
If anyone's looking for a good fun new Christmas horror comedy, one I definitely recommend that just came out ($3 to buy on Amazon!) is The Leech. Was delightfully surprised by this one at Chattanooga Fest earlier in the year. Graham Skipper plays a priest who welcomes someone in need into his home during the holiday season, and it ends up testing both his faith and his patience
For Christmas horror comedy I always recommend Krampus, the American one with Adam Scott and Toni Colette. Has great puppet creatures and practical effects, very solid

i actually like those x-men costumes a lot more than the current basketball texture style superhero stuff does
they just needed some color and they'd be fine if not good imo
edit: this is from just looking at pictures, it's been forever since i watched so they're probably goofier in motion than i remember

I did a partial X-Men rewatch a couple years ago and I think they really hold up, they're definitely better than the tactical basketball aesthetic.
But I'm also generally very into like, superheroes who are just wearing clothes. Especially for a group like the X-Men, their uniform should essentially just be the equivalent of their letterman jackets.

A few years ago a group of my coworkers did a group cosplay of off-duty X-Men dressed in Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters varsity jackets and it was actually really great (and pretty easy! Just a few custom varsity jackets, some hair and makeup, and a few accessories).

Everything looks beautiful when you're young and pretty
The really dope thing about the X-Men suits in those first couple '00s movies is that they were pretty much immediately following the current comics' new character designs by only a year or two, which made 9 year old me extra excited since I thought the leather jacket X Men looked SO cool
It's very situational to me. Spider-Man doing stuff in civilian clothes always looks like TRASH to me and I hate it. Need that bug eyed mask. But meanwhile, Daredevil fighting in sweats or Wolverine wearing a leather jacket instead of a costume looks good to me, perhaps better. So it depends on the vibe of the character and setting, i guess

It figures that dc movies would get "a streamlining" just as they found a groove and were getting unique and interesting. I'm sure they will now be "fine."

People change over time. The Fishman of 2007 would be fascinated to meet his 2022 counterpart
Trying to think of what my favorite movies that I've never rewatched are, and I think Children of Men is very particularly high on that list
Great movie! Don't think I ever want to watch it again.
