uhhhh i mean what dc movie aside from the new Batman and The Suicide Squad was "unique and interesting" in the past...few years? One of those being directed by the guy who is now the head of DC's movie planning going forward?

Not terribly, but it still managed to stand out as relatively refreshing and fun because of the tone being a pretty stark contrast to the recent Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman stuff.

    Birds of Prey!

(This is not an argument that the DC ship was headed in a good direction. I just love that movie and it gets forgotten.)

The DC movies were all experiments in different styles and fairly wild swings but most of them didn’t work (for me at least)

I think they should keep Cavill around as Supes though, even if they decide to change the plans with that movie.

The characters and the plot of Aquaman were not fun to me at all, but some of the side stuff you don't tend to think about was. Like using explosions as scene transitions or the main villain having no chill and so on. The horror scene in the movie was well done. Ultimately one of the lesser watchable DC movies imo, (as compared to the unwatchable ones, like BvS and the first try at Suicide Squad).

yeah but I wouldn't call aquaman unique. I liked Aquaman but it was applying the normal superhero solo movie formula to aquaman and letting that world be itself.

edit: like, Batman is ultimately a bizarre movie. It is such a weird artistic exercise with that brand/character. The Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey which are pretty similar and which I shouldn't have left out, are trending towards much more style driven filmmaking, but everything else they've put out has basically been "it's a super hero movie (and not a good one)".

And given that the director of TSS + Peacemaker is currently the head of "here's how we're going to do it", I would anticipate more style-driven films, not less.

I thiiink I saw the first one? My grandpa used to love all those old Jackie Chan flicks, and I probably caught it one night while he had it on TNT or TBS or some shit.

Never saw the other two, and all I remember about any of them are the few scenes that have stuck around in the cultural consciousness.
