I do often wish I could put my feet up

Because of how tall I am I usually would sit behind the space for wheelchairs.
When we went and saw the first Avengers movie the theater was fairly full I sat to the left of where I usually sit. One of the employees came in and kicked out the people to my right because they were told to stop putting their feet on the rails. As they were being asked to leave one of them pointed at me and the employee said look at him his knees touch the back of the seat in front of him he would have trouble putting his feet up like you did

i mean i'm honestly surprised movie theaters haven't tried to do 'first class' seats before

although they probably have, but i haven't heard of it before

In Germany this has been usual for decades, well before the more recent trend of better seating with recliners and stuff.
It's also what theatre and opera have been doing for ages before, so I'm actually surprised that it is some kind of revelation for that tweeter?

Edit: and nothing ever stopped you from changing seats to empty, better ones. Always a bit of a gamble though if people arrive late and try to get their assigned seats

Theaters and operas usually have like... 10x the number of seats and the sound situation is totally different and... basically they aren't comparable at all. In any way.

So the Big Dog of the known sex criminal organisation the 'Pussy Posse' is kind of unsavoury huh, weird, weird shit

    The what of the what

Leo and a bunch of other popular straight white male actors from the 90s/early 2000s we're all friends and called their merry band the pussy posse and they are all misogynist creeps

Continuing in the skeevy/illegal footsteps of older crews, such as the FFFs from the 1930's and 40's (Flynn's Flying Fuckers, Errol Flynn's invite only posse that'd do extended orgy cruises to Mexico on his sailing yacht the Sirrocco). Though the FFFs were a little more cosmopolitan than the Pussy Posse, since Flynn and David Niven had no issues getting down with each other when female companionship wasn't available.

So in my miserable state I looked for something to watch And I picked Saturday Night Fever. I had not seen it for years. You can really see they are just living for the weekend nothing more. It’s a good movie to watch multiple times too. You get to enjoy it on different levels when you already know the outcome.

My favorite thing about Saturday Night Fever is that it's based on a New York magazine story that claimed to give an inside view of disco and its related subcultures in NY, but was almost entirely fabricated. Apparently the writer, who was British, couldn't get into any of the relevant clubs or meet any of the people involved (and what he was exposed to, he just flat out didn't understand), so he based a bunch of it on some mods he knew back home and just changed the setting, drugs and music.

So really, Saturday Night Fever can be seen as a mod movie as well, with many similarities to Quadrophenia, which came out just two years later.

    In this essay, I will

The Rock, wrestling character, always insuanated that his opponents were girly, or gay.

This was also in the attitude era when that was a common way to insult men (growing up im ashamed to say "you're gay " was my go to insult).

When he came back in the 2010s he still relied on those insults.

I don't think that showed he hates gay people but also doesn't paint him great.

The thing about the Rock is that some people joked that he should run for President, and even though I think he's now realized that's a stupid idea, enough of that talk got into his head that now he runs his life like he's running for President on a campaign platform of nothing.

my wife has a theory that the framing device of that "Young Rock" show (The Rock is running for president and talking about his youth to reporters etc) was a tool to gauge what the general public response to that concept would be if it were to happen for real, perhaps

And his latest persona of weirdly desexed oddly shiny macho toxic masculinity really feels like a kinder gentler packaged Vince McMahon Donald Trump schtick

The fact that there are (at least) two tv shows that directly use The Rock running for president as a major plot point is a little bit horrifying.
