Opterons vs Athlon 64s

So, Newegg has http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?ATT=19103588&CMP=AFC-SlickDeals&Item=N82E16819103588 an Opteron on sale, which appears to be dual core....

I've got a computer that's a skt 939 board that I've been wanting to go Dual core with for awhile now, but with the swap to AM2 all the skt939 dual core chips are either sold out or just gone.... Now there are these Opterons out for 939 and I was wondering, for a computer that will NEVER see gaming again and infact act kind of like a server, would it be worth the Opteron, or should I go with an Athlon 64 X2?

Opterons are basically Athlon 64's on steroids. They are the same chips with more cache, more HT links, that's about it.

Really, it depends on how much you are willing to spend.
