I think what most people wish for at this point is that it'll hurt his feelings. They're under no illusion that things will be different with someone else as a figurehead, but hurting his precious feelings? Now that's something we can all get behind.
Being an out of touch rich fucker since birth, means he's never been clued into one of the oldest of human pass times. Ridiculing fuckers that get to the top of the hierarchy, who have not only failed to earn the power they wield, but also incapable of not looking like a god damn buffoon. Also since many of us live in nations where these assholes can't have somewhat executed for mocking them, we take even greater glee in performing this ancient activity.
i cannot figure out what "space karen" is supposed to mean. seems it originated with a white liberal co-opting AAVE yet again?
The Karen meme is a rather long running meme at this point, where the generic name of the entitled (usually) white, (usually) woman figure is Karen. The origin is unclear with some people pointing at Mean Girls, some at Dane Cook, some at the comedy of Jay Pharaoh, and some at a film from 1989. Using it as a common term for entitled people seem to really take hold in 2020, with a lot of it being aimed at entitled anti maskers, in my anecdotal experience.
Musk is “space karen” specifically because, well, he is entitled and does space stuff.
I don’t believe there is any particular connection to the Karen meme and AAVE, but, there may be something I am missing in its somewhat murky etymology story.
"karen" as a name/term to refer to entitled middle class white women whose "power" is using their white privelege against Black people was popularized by Black Twitter. elon musk, while 100% a racist, is a rich person with actual tangible power that he uses against the entire world. he does not fit the dynamic
once it broke out of Black Twitter it became a "meme" and white people began calling any moderately annoying white person "a Karen" for any reason
i'm white, AAVE isn't my area or anything, there has just been plenty of stuff out there about the co-opting of Black language and culture, especially in recent years, and we've talked in this thread about the right co-opting "progressive language" (which, in the case of "woke", was also co-opted from AAVE) so i think it is necessary to call it out when it's done by others

I... don't know that I'd call "Karen" a term co-opted by liberals? more like "white men", I guess
it's plenty popular among the younger generations on both sides of the aisle, just not so much by the middle-aged WASP women it's generally targeted at (with some people trying to have it classed as a sexist, ageist, and classist slur)
Elon being Space Karen is specifically just due to this viral tweet from 2020, though, and followed on the heels of Trump being called "Karen-in-Chief" etc.
every time he complains about the cost of twitter it's funny. you overpaid by an immense factor for a business that you bought because you thought it was being run badly. i would simply buy things i thought were in a good position. maybe i'm built different

Everyone who votes yes on that poll is going to get banned. And I will love it. Goodbye account. First time I’ve used it since the sale went through.

Twitter wasn't even that bad off financially! It wasn't turning a profit, yes, but it was also dumping a shitload of money into some nebulous R&D.
But that's completely different now that it's been saddled with tens of billions of extra debt generated out of this moron's tantrum over the Babylon Bee.

Musk didn't want to buy Twitter, and is obviously unhappy with owning it at this point which is maybe the only comforting aspect of it, if he could find someone to run it that wasn't... let's see... dozens of right wing shithead podcasts hosts in his replies asking him to choose them to run twitter, he'd declare mission successful, bots defeated, now someone else can run it.

Realize I'm side-barring into a tangent here but, do you have anything that better traces the etymological origins of Karen, and maps its lineage/evolution/etc well? Honestly mostly asking because I am a word/etymology/linguistics nerd more than anything else. But everything I have found in my (relatively cursory if I am being honest) searches are like: "it's a mix of 2018 black twitter and 2017 reddit posts and 2005 Dane Cook standup" (example article: https://theconversation.com/how-karen-went-from-a-popular-baby-name-to-a-stand-in-for-white-entitlement-139644) but doesn't really chart the evolution of its usage and how these varying supposed origin points intermixed in a particular detailed or satisfying way.
I was idly thinking of what I would spend 44 billion dollars on if I had it so I started googling various social problems and estimated cost of solving it.
The US Department of Urban Development estimates that ending homelessness in the USA would cost approximately 20 billion dollars.
So I would do that and then use another ten billion dollars to establish a massive employment system for people to get jobs / training to maintain those same homes.
Then the next ten billion dollars to end US hunger (this was estimated at 7 billion dollars, but let's round up).
And the last four billion for...I don't know, how much is a national train network that doesn't fucking suck?

oh yeah. You could do so much good with $44bn, it's insane. You could really change a country for the better, for a long time, or even permanently.

I just do not understand the wealthy. At some point, money is just an invented construct because you have so much of it. There's nothing you can't do with 500 million dollars that you could with a billion.
But you could just end so many societal problems by writing a check.
I love the notion that he "invested his life savings" into twitter.

Because most billionaires don’t actually have billions of dollars. That’s the thing they don’t like to talk about on these stupid polls of the richest people in the world. Like 99% of their wealth is the value of the companies they own and/or the unrealized value of their stocks in them. But like, Elon can’t exactly sell all of his Tesla stock to actually have $100 billion in his bank account.
It’s all imaginary play money that gets them afforded all kinds of other shit.
Not that Elon WANTS to spend $40 billion to solve America’s financially solvable problems, but he also probably just… couldn’t afford to. He would just never admit that.
I mean, yes, they’re still filthy, dirty rich. But none of them have tens of billions of dollars they could do jack shit with that requires real, actual cash.

skim .001 of that and do all those things and still live in absolute mind altering comfort compared to more than 90% of the world.

Imagine being an egomaniacal billionaire with tons of power and acting like that isn't just you
Musk is probably delusional enough that he has talked himself into a narrative where “he never asked for this” and this power was forced upon him but he will rise to the occasion because “with great power comes great responsibility” and - whoops I just threw up in my mouth.

Assuming you're not assassinated by the CIA.
By definition, every billionaire is someone who at one time had $500 million and chose not to spend it on good causes. Why would they suddenly become charitable after so many years of being selfish? The same could be said of their parents who never raised them to be charitable. This is a foundational flaw in capitalism.

....yes, that was the joke?
Holy. Shit. Is this real?
yes
yes
I give much stronger odds he either
-ignores the poll because of whatever excuse
-deletes the whole website because he's having a mental breakdown

Nice chart to figure out how honest a news source is.
Basically tripping over each other to get a reply from Musk.

yeah that's the white liberal i meant
Musk in the replies: Nobody wants this sinking ship, it takes money and converts it into misery
I did the same thing! I logged in again to just vote Yes! Man if I get banned for this I will be so proud.
