Been bleeding cubes all day
Just 1/2 losses, 4 on like a mirror match.
MMR is now set to bot land.
Snap on everything, make up losses in like two games.
Implies deck archetypes are stratified by MMR. Possibly why I wasn't seeing Sera Control mirrors until I lost a lot.
Seems like I should be folding until I see bots again, until I get to Infinite.
Also implies Surfer = easy infinite based on the correlation and preponderance of lvl 100 titles in that strata too.
I feel like "ladders have more powerful decks on them the higher you go" is... How they usually work out? I just assumed that'd be the case.

Surfer is/was also going to be one of the most common archetypes. It's very accessible to new players because even medium 3 cost cards are still pretty good in a Surfer shell. There's lots of great cards even if you don't have many pool 3.
Cap/Groot/Cosmo/Bishop/Punisher/Sword Master/Storm/Wolfsbane/Mister Fantastic is a very respectable set of 3s to start with.

Feels like it's more there's more powerful decks based on your MMR.
Not your rank.
So I can potentially bot my way to 100 by just overloading bot games with snaps and folding all else.
Altar of Death right now appears to be on the Lamentis end of the spectrum where "Oh boy I guess we just get to play this alternate sub game for a couple days." Like it doesn't feel like you can play a deck that cannot abuse the fuck out of Altar of Death right now or you'll just get buried in value by the decks that can.
Like I guess I'll just spam Deadpool into this literally every turn.
I just had my first Altar of Death match and playing Electro there feels pretty good.

I blasted Deadpool into it and then cast Professor X to make sure nobody else could have fun there anymore. He's pretty great.
I almost made it to 55 but hubris got the better of me on some games I should have known to dip on, I just wanted to see what they had and if it beat mine. One especially annoying one involved a guy Killmongering a space open on his Wong to play Odin and getting lucky the Ironheart blast hit the lane he needed it to for a tie that he won on points, just ugh.
I respect risky plays like that but man, when I try for goofy stuff it rarely pays out as well as these guys. I'm gonna start trying Cosmo over Shang Chi just because I hate Wong that much, Shang wins me plenty of 50/50 toss ups but it'll be worth it to beat up on these cocky fuckers

I think Cosmo is probably just the best overall control piece in the game. There are a LOT of strategies he single handedly hoses, or in some way interrupts.
Think the "turn 6 fuck you" cards are starting to wear me down. Yeah, I get it, but Leader and Rogue and the like just eat my fucking lunch and it makes me feel bad and not want to play.
As a mediocre player (perpetual 40s past couple seasons) I feel like I need to give up on the actual seasonal progression since the fun is dying every time I get a game like Wave/Leader/Odin from my opponent taking my cubes.
Its why I hate Blue in Magic. I don't mind clever combos. I do mind when my opponents fun comes from my anti-fun.

I've been bleeding a lot today too, even with my most fail-safe decks.

You need one of two things to beat Leader: asymmetry or playing power out to the board in advance of 6. What are you playing currently?
On the subject of annoying games all day (like getting Thanos and then having my first THREE games with him have Space Throne and Central Park. W.T.F.)…
This was a very satisfying win. Fuck all the way off, dude.
The new zone ‘Altar of Death’ is hilarious with Deadpool decks. My last game I managed to get him up to a 48 power. Plus you just have a boatload of energy every turn. Allowing you to do some great combo work with the different effects in the deck,
Unfortunately that last game my opponent played Galactus on altar of death (they were running Magick, Wolverine and Nova to try win the zone) so my massive Deadpool didn’t get to make his debut. Just so happened I played Bucky on the Altar that very turn though so their big brain Galactus strategy did not work out.
Turns out I hadn't been paying enough attention to Agatha. Playing a few games with her deck (and winning every time) seems to have broken the bad luck streak.

Jumping between Baero/Shulk and Sera Control. Neither of which seem to be front loaded enough to counter Leader. Rogue hit me with a silly Cage/Hazmat just to mix up, but my Death deck was my only progress last season, and seemed solid for the featured location.
I had an opponent who perfectly embodied the spirit of "playing to win a subgame, not the game."
I play T1 deadpool, they play T1 Sunspot and snap. I have priority, and I know they're snapping to put Armor down, so I play Carnage instead of developing into the lane; now they're against a Deathpool deck with their armor played out and Altar of Death still a possibility T3.
Altar of Death doesn't show up T3 so Deadpool is looking a little eh and middle dropped squirrels everywhere, so I roll out Bucky + Nova while they drop Wave into their armor lane. OK, they... played Wave to stop me from playing another Deadpool turn, I guess? I drop Death into the lane with Armor, pretty much locking it up, and they drop... Sandman?
Wait, they played Wave into Deathpool with no payoff, just to play Sandman so I can't have useful Deadpool turns?
OK, I drop Deathlock onto Bucky + Nova and they pass, now being behind in every single lane (Nova buffed a squirrel in the otherwise empty mid lane). So they successfully played a godhand if the game was "keep my Deadpool at 2 power", but a really bad one if their goal was to win a game of Marvel Snap.
E: This game was also an illustration of why the game should totally undo your confirmed move when an opponent snaps, or at least let you undo it. The opponent probably would have gotten me for 1-2 cubes if they had like, waited 20 seconds and snapped, since I'd have played normally before their snap gave away information.
Got a variant for Debrii just now but can't equip it because when I open my decks it isn't there but it is in my collection...
When you’re building a deck, it only shows the version you have selected as your favorite. And that defaults to the base card. Not sure if that was change with this patch.
I didn't even know you could favorite cards
Yeah select the card and hit the box in the bottom corner that looks like 4 cards next to each other to see all the variants/Splits for it. Hit the star at the top of your favorite. There is also the option of auto swapping this into all your decks that use the card when you favorite one.
Also did the math and that $100 bundle would get you approx (based on being over 1000 CL):
200 boosters
1000 credits
20 crates
-5 series 3 cards
-500 tokens
-1500-2000 credits or 1000 gold (some combination of that)
-5 variants/titles/avatars
Actually a bit more than that, depends on where you are on the track.
I predicted this guy's Wong in center lane with Cosmo, he says well fuck u I have Mystique, then double Hazmats us both. But then I realized he only has one more double reveal spot so I dump Debrii to block that last spot while he drops stuff in left lane, and well
I mean, from my actual climb to infinite I'm pretty sure beating the bots stops working around rank 70 because they don't send you as many, but maybe it'll keep going.

It just won't work. The bots also get better as you rank up, and there are also cheater bots that basically have Daredevil for turn 6, so if there is a way to win on turn 6 they will play it.
Also 1 or 8 is silly. The percentage of people who are willing to snap back at you or will stay if you snap back at them later is very small in my experience. You're going to get a lot more 1s. In my experience infinite is done on the back of a lot of 2 cube enemy retreats and making sure you take as many 1 cube losses.
The bots really don't get better at all, that's a myth people made up. Their decks get closer to piles of meta cards and they might retreat more often on snaps, but it turns out that unless the meta is good-cards-plus-leader, their sequencing becomes even stupider as they run more synergistic cards with no logic.

Sauron in my token shop but 6000 is still unobtainable
So is everyone else just sitting on credits until the end of the month

Probably. I think all of the cards moving down are stuff I've been wanting except for Bast, and Bast is really only an exception because it's a much more narrowly useful card than the others.

I’m crying because I’ve had it 4 times now, I play Destroy deck, and my experience has been:
1: ruined by Storm
2: never drew Deadpool or Sabretooth
3: Armor’d on the turn it was revealed
4: played DP into it twice, t3 location discarded him from my hand.

I already have a deck that Sauron would slot into nicely, but 6000 tokens for him is way too much. Even 3000 would probably only happen for me if I had every other pool 4 card I wanted.

I mean I've done well even if they Armor it, I had someone snap on me when they blocked my Hood, but I still won because it's a ramp deck that tossed in a couple cheap cards on the low end which means I still spam a lot of power out onto the board.
Destroy/ramp mirrors on Altar of Death have been fun.
Game 1: I have priority and both of us play a T3 Dock Ock on Altar of Death. Mine pulls a Shang Chi, Death, Deadpool onto the board, blowing up my Doc Ock (no ramp). Theirs pulls Death, Shang Chi, and Professor X, blowing up their Doc Ock and Death while locking down the lane.
Game 2: They Deadpool onto Altar of Death, so I drop Professor X + Yondu it next turn with priority; they played Deadpool and Bucky Barnes.
Game 3: I have Altar of Death locked down with Professor X and play a Doc Ock in their giant Venom Lane while playing Death in the other lane, hoping to win in the Death lane. They played Death and Taskmaster in that lane, so I'm definitely losing... except I pull Zola + Wave into their Venom lane, throwing Venom over and leaving me with a 6 power advantage mid, a won right lane, and all the opponent's big cards in a venom on the left. I looked and the number of cards that benefit from having ongoing removed seems very niche and smol. 6000 for another Zero seems steep
I mean it's nice that it hits ALL of your ongoings, and it may minimize the number of other enablers you have to use. Like maybe you don't need to run Venom anymore.

Win cubes from bots.
