Also I’ll just cut everyone off at the pass and say the article says Fight Forever launches this month.
It’s not going to don’t get worked it’s probably based on old rumour, the game clearly is in a bit of development hell. It probably was going to come out this month at some point but it’s obviously changed.
Really curious how WWE 2K23 is going to affect Fight Forever.
I don't think it will. People have been hungering for an alternative wrestling game and this is going to fill that niche well. The only thing that would hurt it is if they just dropped a remaster of WCW/NWO Revenge or No Mercy.

While I think it would be mega cool if Fight Forever drops like Hi Fi Rush did, out of nowhere, I doubt they'd do that sort of thing without a huge financial backer of some sort.

They've been running ads for it on Dynamite for the last four months so it's not like there is no marketing.
The issue with Fight Forever seems to be the excess amount of blood and that it lingers; they took it to the ESRB for a rating and twice couldn't get it dropped down to a Teen rating because of it IIRC
It did stand out to me in the trailer, how much was on the mat and wasn't disappearing (in WWE games you could always make people bleed, but when it showed up on the ring mat it'd be there for seconds and then fade away)
i'm sure some chart somewhere says M rated games sell less than T and lower games. Just like movies that try to get PG-13 ratings over R: you just want to remove as many barriers from people being able to give you money for a game as possible.
With that said, I feel like everybody is just buying digital or on Amazon these days, and they don't really do age checks, right?
Steam does prompts with an age verificator where you select your birthday+year, which obviously people can lie about
*Two 13-year olds in front of a PC trying to buy an M rated game*
"Uh, it has an age verification check."
"Ummm...just enter a number to make you really old."
"I know! How about 1990? That'd make me 30, like super old!" *somewhere in the world, MNC Dover crumbles into dust*

And a critical piece of the sponsorship puzzle for the WWE in recent years has been brand integrations. At the Royal Rumble last week, there was a “Mountain Dew Pitch Black Match” which took place in (near) darkness, and [WWE senior VP and head of global sales and partnerships Craig] Stimmel suggests that there will be “surprises” at WrestleMania as well, specifically calling out a new sponsor, Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
“I don’t want to give away too much, but it’ll be around a match, and the sponsorship of that match, and what they’ll be able to bring to that match,” he says. “So we’re going to do things that fit inside of our storyline as well.”
Other sponsors this year include Pepsi, Take Two and Mars/Snickers.
I guess it did feel like a missed opportunity to not brand Mimosa Mayhem, but I guess companies might not want someone falling to their death into a pit of their champagne/orange juice combo.

It was sponsored by Nocking Point win and Chris Jericho's champagne.

Love to bring my pen and my 2003 digital camera to the AEW show.
RIP to a guy who easily could've been in his brother's shadow forever but found his own path to fame.
Guy was super talented - not only a decent, athletic wrestler in an age where huge, immobile body builders were given top billing, but wrote his own poems and was capable of reciting them perfectly without referring to notes or scripts (looking at you Lex Luger).
He also got paid for almost 5 years by WCW without wrestling a single match - he'd call up the office and pitch story and gimmick ideas, but no-one ever acted on them and the money was still deposited into his bank every month anyway.

Ideas are cheap, except when you're contracted to get money for them.

I'm asking, because I'm not a parent, so I'm pretty ignorant here. Seems to me there's a lot of kids playing COD or whatever.
