In Las Vegas for a Week

I'll be in Las Vegas, Saturday March 4 through Thursday March 9 for a conference and are there things I should do?

I am going to get tickets to Penn and Teller for Sunday night cause that's an act I've wanted to see forever, but other than that I have no idea.

The buffet at Ceasar's Palace is really good. The secret protip is to go right when they change from the breakfast to the lunch menu. You get in at the lower breakfast price, eat your breakfast/brunch stuff, then eat the newly arrived lunch food.

Definitely check out Omega Mart. Absolutely incredible, one of my favorite things I've ever done.

If you can get off-Strip, I recommend going to the Pinball Hall of Fame. They have pinball machines from every era of the industry, including one of the only functional prototypes of Pinball Circus, a failed attempt at making a tridimensional pinball machine. Also, when me and my wife are in Vegas, we make a point of getting out for a meal at the Hofbrauhaus, which is a branch of one of the major beer halls in Munich. Finally, I don't know how much of a hockey fan you are, but we're VGK fans, so the last time we were there, we got tickets for a game.

I always go to Ellis Isle at least once when I am in Las Vegas. Its a small Casino and looks like a locals place but I could be wrong.

However, They have a microbrewery and Have 3 Beers they make and they are cheap. They also make homemade rootbeer or did last time I was there.

They have two restaurants that are real good. I love the Chicken Fried Chicken from one but the other is a BBQ place that has pretty awesome ribs. Go early, it gets crowded quick.

Cirque du Soleil was easily worth it when I went. Red Rocks Canyon was a cool thing to do to get out of the city.

Honestly I really liked just walking the strip, going into any casino that looks interesting or especially fancy, and just poking around. They are just cool buildings and it's kind of a novelty that they have these super high end places that you can wander around in for free. If you're drinking, just buy a couple individual cans of beer at like CVS or something and keep them in a backpack so you don't have to go to a bar (open container is legal on the strip).

I remember The D casino has a cool mechanical horse racing game that is a big deal because it used to be common, then fell out of style, and now I guess this is the only one left on the planet: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sigma_Derby

I've completed this trip and did all the strip stuff, Fremont Street, and Omega Mart.

Omega Mart was cool, but very crowded for a week day at opening and that kind of reduced the experience.

Aw that's bad luck, sorry to hear it. My experience was it got busy later in the day and yeah that would sour things, especially since there are bottlenecks to progress even when it's quiet

Just to jump in on this but might help the OP as well, what's the best place to buy tickets to shows online that guarantees a ticket? I've read bad experiences of people buying tickets that then don't end up existing or are not seats they paid for etc. Is it basically just Ticketmaster?

There's always buying direct from the casino/rewards program website that hosts them, though you'll be paying list price.

Don't know where the reputable discount ones would be online, they're usually a kiosk selling day of. A hefty percentage of those can be tied up with a timeshare presentation though...
