Listen there was no greed in this
Just a somber, dutiful march into hell
Relevant Shigeru Mizuki (GeGeGe no Kitaro) manga is relevant:
getting the sense that japan is botching covid control at least as hard as the US is now
If memory serves, they have been the whole time; the LDP shit the bed on it about as badly as the Trump admin did (their vaccine rollout especially was a clusterfuck), plus the clusterfuck of the way emergency pandemic response systems are set up (i.e., a mishmash of decentralized authority to the prefectures and localities and issues where the national-level powers, despite having special authority in such emergencies, are limited)
It's such a good reveal.

It really is such an interesting piece that has a ton of emotional motifs in it. On the face of it it is a grand bombastic piece, basically screaming 'the heroine is here!' But then it has a bunch of different undercurrents like a swirl of different supporting characters. One is sad, another nostalgic, another ominous... and then they all get blown away by a reprise of the bombastic vocals again.
But then again Gundam almost always has great emotional music going back to the series' beginning. You've got classic pieces like this:

Char's theme is basically split into two parts: it starts incredibly ominous and with aggressive explosive trumpets before seemingly lightening up and becoming almost whimsical. But underneath the whimsy is the same aggressive high tempo core.
Or this, from G Gundam, King of Hearts

Just a cheesy great emotional roller coaster. The Hero getting back up to launch one last attack. But with just a hint of sadness that it had to come to this
Or from Zeta gundam, the theme for Camille and the series as a whole:

Just so bitter. You hear this for the first time and you know that nothing good is gonna happen to Camille's rebel group. But the song just keeps angrily trudging along to no conclusion.
Could I perhaps recommend Macross Frontier instead? I'm about halfway through right now and really enjoying it.
I love how this doesn’t bother actually addressing either the allegations of machine translation OR the fact the early draft pages meant for marketing are far more coherent than the actual versions that went to Print:
Putting these behind tags since I’m on mobile and haven’t had the chance to see how they render on desktop yet
Nope the Destiny train doesn’t end until it reaches its final stop.
Until then
Japan has always been chasing that wheel of cheese downhill when it comes to Covid. They would implement some policy like lockdown, then surprise Pikachu face as the tourism economy plummets, so they offer vouchers for people to go traveling in Japan, then do another surprised Pikachu face as Covid cases spike in rural areas from the traveling
Every government: What if we just forgot that economies existed to facilitate the lives of human beings and instead treated humans as vital yet individually expendable ingredients to bolster economies for the benefit of the wealthy owner class?
At least you're about to get War Crimes: Shin Special Edition, which is a fun and bombastic scene. And then SAVIOR'D memes!

WTF that reads like machine translation or something.

I think I'm gonna have to rewatch MHA from the start.
What is the point of being alive if you don't at least try to do something remarkable? ~ Mario Novak
I never fear death or dyin', I only fear never trying.
it almost certainly literally is, yes
Two highly respected translators in the business, Alf Biette and Go Ugell
No company's ever going to flat out admit to that, hilarious as it would be.
(And note how they've locked down replies)
If you’re a business I’m going to say it’s the difference between plagiarism and just refusing to hire the necessary labor
Like, you’re a business, one that has decided to be a localizer. Hire some fuckin’ translators, instead of trying to be cheapskates. If you can’t afford the costs of labor, then obviously you shouldn’t be in the business. It’s the same kind of shit with all those businesses who are like “we can’t afford to pay our staff a living wage! What do you expect us to do?”
To which the answer is “Then why the fuck are you a business if you can’t afford to pay the people doing the fucking work? Also, just how much are you taking home from this whole fucking endeavor?”
Apologies.
Let's Play Final Fantasy 'II' (Ch10 - 5/17/10)
Hell yeah it is.
Are you suffering through the recap episodes or skipping? Because that'll shave off like 5 episodes.
The first volume of the Witch from Mercury novelization (discounting the prologue novel) will drop on Feb. 25th. The post from the Gundam_Info account mentions that it'll feature "expressions and descriptions" (using Twitter's auto translate) that aren't in the anime. Guessing that means that we'll get more internal monologue and some new/expanded scenes.
Something to tide us over until the start of cour 2.
HD Remaster so I think they’re already excised
EDIT: Destiny 11
But… her husband hasn’t been anywhere in this
Did
Did they forget she had a husband???
Edit:
UH
anything between those two points, Murrue, anything between those points
I thought it was handled quite well. The MC is great, and the show has some excellent visual comedy.
Steam
(And I expected Yakuza, not literal Mafia.)
Romantic KIller made me wary at first, but after watching the rest of the first episode it seems pretty fun. The absurd extent to which the wizard thing messes with the MC (parents suddenly and happily decide to move overseas for three years, all chocolate everywhere is sold out, etc) and her over-the-top defiant resolve to not play by his rules are pretty fun.
The show does weirdly make me feel personally attacked because the MC (who supposedly needs to change, despite obviously being perfect) reminds me of the first girl I've ever fallen for down to the hobbies, cat, red hair, and glasses.
