If you ever wanted to see an African game that was somehow more insulting than that slavery game, congratulations.

This game looks like I could replace all the African animals with orcs and goblins and it would still play the same

Ahhhh, yes, Africa. Home to... elves? And perfectly circular lakes. Also, animals who transform into treasure chests. Yes, Africa, where the only man made structures are simple pillar objects jutting 90 degrees straight out of the earth.

I bless the elves down in Afriiiicaaaaaaa.

Africa is a song about a man trying to cure his lycanthropy.

Africa is a song about a man trying to cure his lycanthropy.

I've heard that theory, it adds up.

Hopefully someone who knows more about African culture than I do can tell us about the ancient African custom of Unity asset flipping.

I think the interface symbols reflecting Sword and Melee combat modes say it all:

Completed Thymesia! I'm shocked too since it's mostly a parry heavy game in the same vein as Sekiro but there's a lot you can get away with without parrying. Well until some bosses, but then felt good to stomp down their tactics.

It's a AA title and clocks in around 15 hours completing basically everything and I never did unlock recipes but didn't seem to be issue. Gotta salute that even though you can't respec your stats, you can respec your talents at any time including some to help you out with stuff like deflecting. Rather Bloodborne in setting though there is only like 3 levels with variations of them ala Nioh.

Had fun! Thanks again for the gift @Pixelated Pixie

I need to finish it, I believe I just have 2 levels left but got distracted because Assassins creed valhalla finally clicked for me somehow.

Its a really great combat and character building system that needs a bit more game to go with it, tbh.

Okay so I stuck with Red Dead until the end. Credits rolled.

The two epilogues were a nice change. Also the final mission was hilariously buggy.

The final mission ran the full range of bugs I've encountered. Black flickers, weird shadow anomalies, pointing a gun at someone in a cutscene but with no gun in hand, etc. And then finally, as the credits roll, Out of Memory error.

I had to watch the credits on Youtube.

I'm glad I stuck it out but holy shit this PC port is buggy as shit and needed longer in the oven or a bunch more patching, neither of which it got.

Given that treatment I might not buy any future Rockstar games. These guys have infinite money from GTA Online, they can spend a few months patching their latest game. But nope.

So Anno mutationem is pretty cool. I started it a while back and even was recommending it off the strength of the demo before it came out. It starts off very 2d/3d pixel graphic cyberpunk 2077. Let’s just say I hit a story inflection point where things are escalating way past that into weird Sci-fi territory and I’m into it. It feels a little like guard countering is the best thing you can do in combat by far but that’s not unusual I guess and some enemies don’t give you those chances so it probably balances? Enjoying it.

Also how are people connecting their deck to a tv? I have had questionable results attempting to use a steam link over the years because Wi-Fi and directly connecting an old pc to the tv taught me that the wireless capabilities of that pc were bad but it I can directly connect a deck with a Bluetooth controller it’s probably going to work much better?

You want a USB-C dock, that you can plug a hdmi cable from the TV, and probably have a seperate plug to keep it powered

    I use one of these:

    y2obt2pivbhh.jpg

Other docks are available, including an official one from Valve that includes an extra charger, but mine is the JSAUX one pictured.

I also use an Xbox controller over Bluetooth, or the same wireless mouse I use for my PC (since it can pair with two devices and switch between them at the flick of a switch, which is handy) and a little Bluetooth keyboard I originally got for my tablet. The dock has a USB-C in where the Deck's charger plugs in, and it charges the Deck through the USB-C cable that goes over the top and connects to the Deck. The official Valve dock also adds a DisplayPort if you'd rather have that option as well as HDMI.

A handy tip is to go into a game's Properties and change Game Resolution to 1080p (typically, obviously results may vary depending on game - this basically tells the game what resolution to output at from the dock), assuming you're using a 1080p or 4K TV or monitor, to get better picture quality without impacting performance too much. Some things you can get by with more - Worms WMD runs great at a solid 60fps in native 4K, for example.

Finally decided to mod it, using the KOTOR 1 Restoration and a bunch of other additions from some kind of big list. I still had my share of little bugs here and there but overall it was actually a pretty stable experience.

I've been playing a bit of Dinkum and have been having quite a bit of fun just an hour in so far. It's a great indie Animal Crossing that's pretty cute and fun. I'm mentioning it now as it's currently on sale at 20% off until Feb. 13th. After finishing Stardew Valley not too long ago, it's definitely scratching that itch! While it's still in early access, it does seem to have some meat on the bone and the sole dev seems to be putting out updates at a fairly nice clip, which is always encouraging!

It’s possible the overall dialog is bad but the clip that people kept passing around twitter to “prove it” was actually a really good line read by the MC so idk. It was a slightly budget “Weiss you bastard” scene that worked well in context too

Oh man, I should do that. It's been about 7 years. I tried to play a couple years ago I only had a janky old laptop with integrated graphics and it crapped the bed once you got to the undercity. Something about vegetation killed crashed the game. KOTORII crashed after character creation.

I wonder if I can get saves to shares between PC and XBox. Last time I played, KOTOR had just come to Android, and I figured out a way too complicated way to use google drive and a syncing app on android to create my own cloud share. I only lost 3 hours of progress once.

In regard to KOTOR2, the Steam version actually got some pretty cool enhancements about 8 years ago.

There is a strong incentive in internet discourse to run with the first hot take and signal boost it. It feels like it's a form of feeling a part of the group. Forspoken got dinged as the "quips all the time talky game" and that's that. Is it actually true? Depends on the person. It's such a personal feeling that it's really only possible to feel out by playing or watching a session of normal gameplay. But that's not what gets said or repeated around, you have people who've never played it and will never play it spreading hot takes about its dialogue.

This isn't to say that the "internet's take" is wrong in every case or even in this case! This isn't a case of "popular things are bad/wrong because they're popular." It's more about looking at the common opinion/reviews and deciding if that's enough to stay away Or to go ahead and try the thing anyway to get an informed opinion from experience. Either is valid. What only slightly irks me is the tendency for internet discourse to ossify into the short quippy takes that most of the online discourse spaces incintivise in one way or another.

    Forspoken talk!

I have 30 hours in the game and no sign of quitting yet.

The dialog is /fine/ and it fits the characters involved. Frey is what Frey is, and I really love her attitude. If the banter with Cuff bugs a person, there's a setting to reduce the frequency. The banter doesn't bother me at all.

The graphics are fine. There's some muddy textures on some stuff, and whatever, but it's not "looks like a PS3 game" that I've seen thrown around. Other stuff is just gorgeous, and I've definitely done a double-take or two upon coming to a new area and admiring the scenery unfolding.

The game runs fine. I've had zero crashes or issues of any kind, running at 1440p res with raytracing and all the eyecandy. I'm not pegged at 144fps, but I'm generally in the 90s and never below 60.

The gameplay itself? It's fucking awesome. Jump-spin-flip-dodge-run while drawing from a delightful assortment of spells to fling around like some magic god. There's single boss set fights interspersed with "here's 50 mooks, go nuts"... It feels /good/ and fluid and satisfying. I am not a gamepad kind of player if I can help it but I use one for this and it feels super intuitive in both movement/parkour and spellcasting. Zipping along the environment in magic-parkour mode is awesome, too.

The chatty setting dials down in gameplay chatting. Just like with High on Life, that doesn't fix anything if what annoys you is the cutscene dialog.

    .

This is like the banter in guardians of the galaxy that I’m playing now. It’s probably too much. Most of it is fun/funny, but it a) gets repetitive if you go down side paths for the collectibles because you hear the same lines over and over telling you that’s the wrong way and more importantly b) it clips with the actual important story dialog.

I think this is the first game I’ve played where you can turn the banter down and I think it’s a great setting for all of these games

    Happy birthday @CorriganX

Just as a note, when I got my 5800X3D, I got a code that was for the AMD promotion at the time. I went and made new account since it was a new site compared to when I built my 2600x system. After I got done and put the code in, the next screen said it wanted to download some sort of browser extension to verify the product. It basically wanted to make sure I had a the 5800X3D and didn't just steal the code, which is reasonable. Problem is, I still haven't installed it since I still only have 1070, so I couldn't redeem the code. It's possible it may ask the same thing depending on if it's GPU or CPU bundle code. Just thought you should know.

I played the demo. I was kinda interested in the game and the demo unsold me.

The combat was boring, the objectives were dull and the world felt empty, and it performed miserably on my PC which is fairly high spec.

I’m sure it’s all better in the full game but why not then out that in your demo. I felt pretty happy taking it off my wishlist after the demo.

Well, I do have those Mac earbuds in my TF2 inventory because we had one guy in our community who played on Mac. Granted this was a long time ago and I didn't have as much stuff on the account, but back then we were more tight nit since there were alot less of us.

It all depends on how it works. If Spoit just needs to have the GPU/CPU in his PC and it does the check, and it gives you a key he can hand that out. If it goes to the Steam Oauth site and wants to log into the account to "award" the key to an account, then yeah that's a trust test. Spoit's been around long enough that I'd say there's nothing to worry about.

EDIT Idea - Now that you can log in with the barcode and your phone, technically all that would have to be done once is that you use something like discord with screenshare, Spoit shares the login screen barcode, winner holds up the camera to the streamed screen and logs in that way. The password never changes hands, winner still has full control over the autheticator and phone. I've never noticed, but after Spot adds the game the winner just logs in on his/her PC and that -should- log Spoit out.

I get the feeling that a lot of the people shitting on Forspoken haven't actually played the game and were just looking for an opportunity to shit on a game that had the audacity to have a main character that is both black and female.

The demo was almost certainly an older build (I think this was confirmed somewhere) so technical issues are not surprising, I guess.

There's no way it could have included enough gameplay time to get more than a couple of spells, so it completely fails to show off the insane spell+parkour craziness you can get up to. When you have like 2 moves and 3 spells, yeah, it's not exactly excitement-town.

This is why I avoid demos. They rarely ever seem to be well constructed to actually, you know, demo things well.

@Karoz did a thing. Somehow this was supposed to fix his neck pain. I don't get it, but I hope it helped....

    Thanks! <3<3<3
