This might be the worst thing Sam has ever done to him. It was glorious. I have to wonder how many GameChanger episodes can be summarized as "trying to get Brennan to have a stroke," at this point.

Really it's shocking that he's kept the bit going after the I CANNOT WIN rant, it's not like that will ever be topped (although "identify this bird" might have come close.)

I'm at the 2nd or 3rd to last episode of Crown of Candy, and I'm aware of all the complications they endured at this point but man you can really feel the energy leaving the campaign at this point. It's kinda frustrating because the first 3/4ths of it is such great shit.

Identify this bird might be peak rage for brennan. Like other episodes have drawn it out, but on a 1-10 the bird is a 9.

Also Ally is the perfect foil for Brennan. They get him perfectly and can either support/fuck with him at the drop of a hat. I’m always stoked when both of them are on a show together.

I'm guessing a big part of that is that
Brennan absolutely expecting to kill at least half the party at some point or another and them continuing to survive starts to strain the narrative arcs he had planned.

The best part of "Identify this bird" is that he had a heart rate monitor strapped to him, so although he's able to laugh this stuff off in the end, we know for a fact that it does actually piss him off. He wasn't just hamming it up for the camera, he was legit annoyed.

There's probably some of that, but the big things I'm aware of is that:
    1. They suddenly had to move the set to a warehouse because the fire marshal came in and told them the dome was a fire hazard at the CH offices. There was a huge delay as a result, which resulted in:
    2. They started playing at 3 AM because of scheduling conflicts
    3. Siobahn got really sick towards the end and had to take breaks during shoots to go throw up.

And I wanna say there was other stuff I'm not remembering, as well. But the last few episodes were basically a clusterfuck to produce. There were some reshoots of the end of one episode as well because a replacement character's entrance got goofed up and they wanted to redo it and that turned into another clusterfuck that seemed to also reflect onto how the players responded to that character later on. It lost some of its organic charisma as a result.

I watched the behind the scenes on that one and apparently Brennan was a last minute fill in for Raph. It is why they didn't have a better lie for the heart rate monitors. That also means the bird bit was a last minute addition which goes to show just how much they know how to fuck with him.

The best part of the bird bit is that it's scalable to his answer. Even if he got Spoonbill, or even Rosette Spoonbill, they could just ask him for the Latin name or some such that he would probably have no hope of getting.

Finished Crown of Candy. I was not about the mass battle stuff. I get that they needed one in there to be properly hitting all the GoT tropes but I couldn't really follow the action at all and it made what should have been a bunch of very big payoffs into duds.

Started The Ravening War, and I'm in the 2nd episode now and am super fucking lost. I have barely any grasp of what the fuck is going on at all.

Finished The Ravening War - Solid stuff, probably my favorite season or mini-season or whatever of D20 thus far. I especially liked that the final combat was actually good and climactic. I thought I was super lost at the beginning of this series but I wasn't, it was just that mysterious.

Watched and Finished Misfits and Magic - I thought it was just okay. Aabria was a little too abrasive and snotty at times and I didn't care for that, it made it difficult to read her intentionally abrasive and snotty NPC's quite often because I couldn't tell which character she was, half the time. I liked her a lot more as a player in The Ravening War.

Now coming back to Fantasy High S2, and I don't know what changed between episodes but after I basically slept through the first episode or so it's suddenly more palatable, so maybe they figured out their sound or something. The first episode was basically unwatchable and I'm just trying to put the rest together via context clues as I continue with the rest of it.

This one was a rare miss for me.
There were two reasons, I think. First, I’m very sensitive about my own privacy, and the thought of a stranger digging through my phone to get my search history, purchase history, etc made me low key stressed the entire time. Second, one of my favorite aspects of Game Changer is how they’ll take an episode’s concept and keep evolving it, pushing the premise out in new and more ridiculous ways. In Second Place, for example, they start with straightforward “how well can you do X tasks”, and then lean into the bluffing / mind game aspect of the challenge, along with taking various traditional game show setups and adapting them to fit their new structure. And that just didn’t feel like it was happening in this one.

Fantasy High Junior Year Episode 8:
What the eff is even happening??

The Vulture Dimension? Brennan just had that locked and loaded, ready to go?

Everything about the dildo robots was just absolutely absurd. And completely predictable as soon as the Thistlesprings were involved.

But man, those dice rolls were just brutal. Absolutely brutal.
