I was super lucky in my other gacha game so I figured I'd try my luck with Genshin's wishes too and tried 10 wishes on Nahida's banner. Sure enough the comet turns bright orange even though I'm nowhere near pity ... and I get my 6th Qiqi.
I accidentally wasted a wish on the weapon banner... I hit X as I was going through them, when I meant to hit square.
I got the 5 star sword out of it... Who's it good for?
Other than Nilou? If you have Shinobu, the HP juices her healing and her skill pulses regularly enough to stack up her EM, which is important if she's driving your hyperbloom.
they really need to overhaul hilchurl's treasure trove
it is a HUGE waste of time.

Welp I'm back on this, levelling Ayaka and Shenhe. Man, even underlevelled they hit like a truck.
I had a lot of gems left over from saving for Ayaka and Shenhe, so I figured I'd try got Nilou. Worst case I lose the 50/50 and I can save up for Kokomi whenever she comes around next.
Anyway, I got an amber and it was... Mona. And apparently C1 Mona is her best constellation for reaction teams so that was a fantastic runners up, and now I'm guaranteed Kokomi on her banner. I also have a TON of starglitter to gratually buy up Intertwined wishes for that too.

Okay this is weird. I have 2 Dragonheirs False Fins but I have not unlocked Enkanomiya yet. How the fuck?

So, the new banners were put up for Phase 2. As we knew, it's Baizhu and Ganyu, though the four stars are Kaveh (as advertised) along with Candace and Fischl. Kinda....middling there. Fischl is great, obviously, and every constellation that gets her closer to C6 is worth it. But then we have Candace who is kind of all over the place. She has the Chongyun problem of "neat thing that nobody really wants or needs", which is just unfortunate. She does have places where she can fit, at least, in that, even if you're using a character that can't get her Hydro infusion (because they have one of their own that can't be overridden or because they aren't Sword/Claymore/Polearm), they will still get her elemental damage boost to normal attacks. The likes of Ayato and Yoimiya are more than happy to have that, obviously. She doesn't really synergize with the rest of the banner, though, except maybe Fischl in a Tazer comp of some sort.
Obviously, Kaveh is the standout by virtue of being new and he's....interesting?
Kaveh ramblings below:
As a unit, he is 'pretty okay' in terms of how he fits in. He's not really changing anything right now (despite his kit designed seemingly to want to do that) but he's also not just bad. So he's either in the camp of "interesting idea, unfinished execution" that we've seen before or "unit released before he's relevant" which we also have seen before. This is because, design-wise, he is built to try and make Bloom reactions (as in regular bloom, not Nilou Superbloom, not Hyperbloom or Burgeon blooms...just Bloom) good without doing a whole lot to make Bloom reactions good. This is pretty understandable, being a 4-star but it's just weird design. Like, the big issue is that Bloom wasn't designed to be a real reaction type - or it didn't seem to be - so much as it was designed to be a stepping stone, but Kaveh is built around weaponizing Bloom. To be clear, he does increase Bloom damage (both by being able to trigger them almost at will and through his Burst adding damage to Bloom burst damage) but the floor for Normal Bloom damage is just so low (almost half the base damage of Hyperbloom/Burgeon) that boosting it is still not putting it on tier with Hyperbloom/Burgeon to make it stand out as a reaction. So either we're going to get a character that is focused on normal Bloom reactions or Kaveh is basically just a novelty who can still do a job because he's Dendro and Dendro is just too good.
The inevitable question of, "But doesn't he work well with Nilou?" is answered with a shaky 'Yesn't'. He can work with Nilou, sure, because he's Dendro, has a Dendro infusion and will be healed by Bloom reactions. (I have to assume this counts Bountiful Core blooms too) But whether or not he really /adds/ anything to a Nilou team is the big wrinkle. Can he be the driver to create reactions? Sure. Not as fast as someone else, but it works. He does add some damage but not a ton, and he shouldn't die from the bountiful cores exploding (again, assuming they still count as Bloom as they should be according to her own talent description, though there is a question about his passive in my mind as to whether it converts damage to healing or if he's damaged but immediately heals, which could be a deal-breaker), so he can be used. But then you kinda have to think about the rest of the team. Nilou teams generally want a healer because the Bountiful Cores deal immense amounts of self-damage, which Kaveh can helpfully mitigate for himself. But if you've played a Nilou team, you know it just kinda ends up being non-stop popcorn, so your other teammates will need healing at some point too. Which means you'll need a second healer. And this is kinda the point where you have to consider whether or not you're actually gaining a net positive from him being on the team. And in certain circumstances, maybe you are! But it feels like, in general, there's a bit too much going there where you'd want other options. He was definitely /not/ tailor-made for Nilou teams, though, I've seen that claim a few times and that is straight-up untrue. But again, he is entirely usable in them.
All in all, I feel like he's on the level with Heizou: Kinda overstated in how good he is, but still good if you build him. You don't really want to use him for Bloom (yet, maybe?) but you can. If you don't use his skill, you can use him for Hyperbloom really easily. You can build him for straight damage and it'll be damage on probably the upper level of a 'regular' 4-star. With Fontaine on the horizon, we're definitely going to be getting more Hydro units, so maybe we'll get one that, purposefully or inadvertently, makes Bloom stand on its own merits with him but for now it's still just kind of a joke.
tl;dr: Kaveh's not bad but he doesn't make Bloom good on his own. We still need someone else to help him out with that, but if you build him to do stuff, he will do stuff and be pretty decent at it.
On another note, the evergreen statement of "do not wish on the weapon banner" still holds true for this weapon banner but also specifically please do not wish on this weapon banner. Amos Bow is good for Ganyu but at this point, you don't really need one for her, as you probably have an option for her that is fine enough. Not to mention, it's just a Standard Pool weapon, so you can theoretically get it any time. And the Jadefall's Splendor is just so hyper-specific for Baizhu while also not being overwhelmingly better than other options that it's just not worth it. Seriously, like, an R5 Prototype Amber is going to be just fine for him because it gives him more healing and energy, which is most of what Jadefall does for him in the first place. It sucks because Favonius Spear, Makhaira Aquamarine and Wandering Eveningstar are pretty good weapons, but Sacrificial Bow is very niche, Lion's Roar is not great (especially now that Keqing has better options) for anyone but Keqing, and even Keqing can make do with an Iron Sting pretty well, and the 5-stars, as stated, are not really necessary whatsoever. I guess it's just kind of weird after so many weapon banners in a row of questionably decent value (considering the usual pitfalls) that we're back to "not at all worth it."

I still think it’s funny seeing things like ‘Lions Roar is not great (now that Keqing has better options)’ as if it’s a simple matter of going and doing the quest to get said sword.

You're not wrong, but I also misspoke/misremembered: Lion's Roar is still pretty good for Keqing, but specifically /only/ Keqing and you can get away with an Iron Sting (craftable, you're guaranteed at least one, maybe two billets) on her now that Dendro reactions are a thing. So Lion's Roar isn't a really big value piece.
After this last update my game keeps logging me out every time i quit and i have to manually type in my email and password. anyone know how to get it back to an auto log in?
Jeez, Sumeru is borderline unplayable. I'm being forced to run to the literal furthest reach of the map immediately upon reaching the desert to free up an irrelevant NPC from a side quest that was forced into my log when I approached Katheryne trying to do the main quest. Before that, I had to go start a sidequest, then couldn't finish it, because the NPC disappeared back to the main quest I had been doing. And then the one time I had to run to talk to Katheryne for...I'm not even sure what it was.

Finally grabbed a Sapwood Blade for my Dendro Traveller and started upgrading it.
I wanted to get it to Ascension 5 so I grabbed all of the Chaos Storage and Modules off the store, and went and hunted down every Ruin Drake on the map.
And I'm one fucking Module short. I have 5 bolts and 2 modules and no more Storages on Ascension 4. Fuck you game.

I'm real close to actually spending money on gems for wishes.
I really want Ganyu and don't want to have to wait for her to pop up again. I'm at 45 wishes done on the character banner and my last amber was Mona, so the 3280(+3280) package will guarantee pulling her.
Can't you get Ganyu with Welkin and grinding primos from f2p sources? You still have almost three weeks left.
Edit: Guess it is pretty close. You could always just get Welkin and keep on wishing and if you still haven't gotten her when her banner is about to expire, buy BP next for 8 more wishes and bunch of other stuff.
I'm assuming you've already bought the 5 monthly fates off stardust. Any starglitter you can burn for pulls? (I ended up doing that to get Ganyu because I lost the 50/50 to Tighnari. Granted, I didn't have Tighnari, so not all bad, but)

I need 7200 gems for 45 wishes.
Even with 30 days, that's a long shot.
However, I was going to wait until the very last few days anyway, because people tend to datamine and/or leak the next banners before the next update, and if Kokomi is next month Ganyu will definitely have to wait.
You could also buy the Welkin if you don't have one yet. That plus dailies is a little less than a wish a day. And actually exactly a wish a day when you factor in the 300 crystals you get. 20 days, 20 wishes, you might get lucky. In fact if you did it that way and still didn't get it, it would be cheaper that way buying the remaining ~25 wishes, over buying 45 wishes.

Soft pity starts at 75, usually nobody hits 90 wishes. There's also small but real chance of getting her before soft pity starts. Even if you don't get her with Welkin, getting a bunch of wishes from that and regular grinding makes buying the last wishes a lot cheaper as you don't need the biggest pile of crystals any more.

Well that was a fun morning. I got to a full level 80 team, so I jumped into the Domain that had Gilded Dreams and Deepwood Memories, since it's an aggravate team and those are perfect for Collei and Dendro Traveller.
I ended up coming out with a full set of each for them. The stats aren't fantastic, but they're good on a few of them. I could feel the teams killing power increase as I got and upgraded each peice and plonked it on the characters using them.
Now I want to go get Barbara a full set of Ocean Hued Clam so she can contribute damage as she heals.
Baizhu's main points are basically having Dendro Application, good amounts of off-field healing (which still can be useful for QoL if nothing else), Interruption resistance and some extra Dendro reaction damage. (This is not in order of usefulness specifically) His main weaknesses are that he's very single-target focused -which isn't always a weakness- and he's very Energy hungry because he's a character in Genshin Impact after 3.0.
The main thing you're going to want him for is his Burst because on-field characters that get healed by his Burst gain damage bonuses to Dendro Reactions (the Bloom suite and Aggravate/Quicken and also Burning I guess) based on his HP which is the stat every other part of his kit scales off of. So you are basically incentivized to only focus on building HP and Energy Recharge on him which is just...really really good. Obviously you'll need some Crit Rate too if you run Favonius on him but that's a given and if you run him in Double Dendro teams, you can generally get away with a max Refine Prototype Amber because that's HP scaling, healing focused and gives him energy. So that part of him is just honestly really good. It's really easy to knock his shield because it's made of paper but the main reason you apply it is so you can take a hit (and you will get damaged) without getting flung across the map. It's basically like the 'shield' you get from Thoma's Burst; it's not really preventing damage by itself but it's reapplying fairly quickly, it's saving you some stamina/letting you keep attacking and, in the case of Baizhu, it's healing you and dealing damage/applying Dendro when a unit breaks it (only for it to reapply again while his Burst is up).
That said, in general you are going to want to run him on Double Dendro teams which basically means an Aggravate team with Nahida or DMC and Electro on-fielders (So Keqing or Cyno for your main DPS and then like Yae Miko or Fischl. Cases could be made for other Electro units, like I could see a Beidou Aggravate team being pretty good if you're also using DMC or Nahida for AoE Dendro) or you can run him in a Spread team alongside Alhaitham or probably Tighnari. It will just make his energy generation better, as well as your other Dendro unit's, you'll get some extra Elemental Mastery out of Dendro resonance and it just works. He is a very solid unit for these kinds of teams and honestly, just overall.
The reason people will be bothered by him is that he's around as good as Yaoyao which is not completely unreasonable. Yaoyao will do better in AoE situations almost universally and because of how Dendro works, multiple applications are just incredibly valuable, so with Baizhu being primarily a single-target unit, that is a bit of a drawback. But this is a sort of situation where, like, you say "Yelan is around as good as Xingqiu" in that it sounds bad because 5-star versus 4-star but Yaoyao is a very good unit, so saying Baizhu is around as good as her - better in some scenarios, worse in others - means that he is also very good. Still, it's the perception, not to mention we've been waiting for him to be playable for the entire run of the game, plus he's a Liyue character, so 'only' being very good will not be enough for some people. And I'm not really going to argue that point, honestly, because his kit feels fairly restricted in parts (I'm personally so goddamn tired of characters having 80 cost Bursts and bad/low particle generation) purely to sell his Signature/Constellations as per usual, but the sting is somewhat lessened for me because his Constellations are kind of a joke despite having QoL increases and you can completely ignore his Signature in favor of a craftable weapon or Favonius Codex. And in general he's just...fine. In a game where characters tend to come out absolutely terrible or massively OP, a character that comes out and just works can feel underwhelming. That's not fair, of course, but it's how it goes and I would kind of expect a character that's had this long of a wind-up to be like....more notable.
So, after watching some people play with Baizhu and playing the Test Run version myself, there are a few updates here but the overall evaluation didn't really change.
-The Shield he gives was perhaps a bit overestimated. The fact that it constantly re-ups itself through the duration of his Burst is still good, but the delay between re-ups can be a wide enough window that makes it hard to recommend him as resistance interruption. It absolutely crumbles with a heavy attack, which means you are vulnerable in that window between when it crumbles and the next time it regenerates. In cases with a lot of enemies or perhaps just a couple really aggressive ones (Vishaps, Consecrated Beasts, Ruin enemies, etc.) this means you still have a very high chance of getting tossed around. That is pretty unfortunate, but it also seems to revolve around the shield's activation/re-upping time only, so that also means there will be instances where you get hit right when it's about to re-up, which means you get hit, it crumbles and then reforms, giving you another free hit. It's still not great and for being as constrained as he is elsewhere, though, they absolutely could have made that a bit better. The comparison to Thoma's shield was a bit short-sighted, since you have some control over his shield, where Baizhu's just cracks and re-ups according to a timer and nothing else.
-His healing is...stranger than expected. The amount is what we thought, but they seemed to balance the fact that his skill heals your whole party by putting a long delay on it. You use his skill, the snake sprite goes out and hits one enemy, then it goes and hits another enemy and a third before finally coming back and only /then/ do you get healed. So from the point where you use his skill and when you get the effect of it is longer than expected. This isn't exactly a deal-breaker so much as it's just a really weird design choice that you might have to work around. Where it gets a bit bad is where you pair it with the above issue. Actually using his skill has a little wind-up (probably along the lines of, like, Kuki or Kokomi's skill) before it's cast, which means you can get canceled out of it by getting hit without actually getting the effect out (which has happened to me with Kuki and Kokomi a lot lately) which is beyond frustrating. In comparison, there are characters like Xingqiu who use their skill immediately, but then can be interrupted or whatever directly after, but like....you got the damage/benefit and the particles already, so that doesn't feel as bad when you're playing it, usually. (I know it frustrates me when XQ freezes himself before I can use his Burst to self-funnel, but that's still not as bad as trying to put Kokomi's jellyfish down and getting uppercut into next week)
-Teams are still pretty much as expected. His application, in practice, is a little slower than it should be, so he isn't Cyno's dream support like he should be but he still works there. Spread and Aggravate still work pretty fine. Hyperbloom and Nilou Bloom work because they are just a bit overpowered as is. Dendro is still Dendro, he's still a Dendro catalyst, so that instantly means he is valuable, even if his Dendro application is slow/short-ranged.
So yeah, overall, Baizhu is still fine. If you're comparing him to Yaoyao, he's still better or worse depending on the scenario, but the fact remains, if you're using him /in place of/ Yaoyao, then that means your Yaoyao is free for another team, which is a win. And as stated, he's still Dendro, he's still a catalyst user, he's still incredibly easy to build so that's all good. There are plenty of reasons to pull for him if you want to, but you also should not feel as if you have to.
So I think I'm kinda over the secrets around Khaenri'ah getting it so incredibly hard?
I hope they can pull a rabbit out of their hats and deliver something satisfying but I kind of expect it to fall short or be outright unpleasant at this point.
Hitting the content wall in Honkai Star Rail has me fiending, so I actually redownloaded Genshin to see what's new since the last time I played.
And apparently the answer is "a metric fuck ton," cause I cannot walk more than 10 feet in any town without stumbling into some new quest cutscene to unlock a random area/game mode/whatever that I had no idea existed. Currently prioritizing Archon quests, which have me exploring the aptly named Chasm to the west of Liyue. Hoping I get to Sumeru soonish, want to unlock Dendro MC and mess around with those reactions, and I don't feel like pulling for the green snake man (I have like 70 pulls and I'm 90% sure that I lost my last 50/50 before stopping last time, so I'd rather save for a future banner).

On the wish screen, you can check your history to see when you last pulled an amber on the character banners (and how far back so you can judge your current pity).

If you just want Dendro MC you can look for a cavern by a waypoint near the west end of the Chasm and walk on out. You're not going to get Sakoku Decree'd But It's Plants or anything and you can tag a Statue of the Seven just fine.
You will notice some own-brand Koroks when you do. That's the optional world quest part of tree.0 Sumeru, and it's a lulu.

Kazuha is who I'd really like—he's cool as shit but I've managed to be on break/not actively playing the game whenever his banner shows up— but if Yae or maybe Shenhe showed up first I might go for them instead.

I really want Ganyu and don't want to have to wait for her to pop up again. I'm at 45 wishes done on the character banner and my last amber was Mona, so the 3280(+3280) package will guarantee pulling her.
But fuck me $80au?
Edit: Guess it is pretty close. You could always just get Welkin and keep on wishing and if you still haven't gotten her when her banner is about to expire, buy BP next for 8 more wishes and bunch of other stuff.
Can't for the life of me figure out why.

I need 7200 gems for 45 wishes.
Even with 30 days, that's a long shot.
However, I was going to wait until the very last few days anyway, because people tend to datamine and/or leak the next banners before the next update, and if Kokomi is next month Ganyu will definitely have to wait.
Soft pity starts at 75, usually nobody hits 90 wishes. There's also small but real chance of getting her before soft pity starts. Even if you don't get her with Welkin, getting a bunch of wishes from that and regular grinding makes buying the last wishes a lot cheaper as you don't need the biggest pile of crystals any more.
don't do it
slippery slope and all that!
I hope they can pull a rabbit out of their hats and deliver something satisfying but I kind of expect it to fall short or be outright unpleasant at this point.
It only goes back 6 months I think. If he last played before Chasm, the history is empty.
One of the only characters I really "need" at this point for the teams I even remotely care about.
Yeah, the last time I played was like
Raiden Release? Maybe a bit afterwards?
Kazuha is who I'd really like—he's cool as shit but I've managed to be on break/not actively playing the game whenever his banner shows up— but if Yae or maybe Shenhe showed up first I might go for them instead.
i'm still on stellar reunion break ;p
