Went out and got some Chinese soy sauces (light and dark), some new toasted sesame oil since ours was old and some Shaoxing wine which I have never used before and made some good ass fried rice.

Did the whole wash and squish method for tenderizing the chicken (as well as a little baking soda and a marinade) and it turned out super good. Much more complex flavor than what we've previously done before with regular old Kikkoman.

. I've been frustrated at work lately, they keep making me go to this dumb building that I'm not supposed to work at and do a bunch of stuff that I'm not supposed to be doing

But today I learned that this building is a quick 5 min walk down the road from an empanadas bakery

So maybe now I'm less upset at this work situation

Smash burger grilled cheese: successful, recommended. Might try to get more complicated since Googling reveals wonders far beyond my simple creation.

I don’t know if you all are familiar with the Casey’s chain of gas stations but they have kitchens like QTs and have really good breakfast pizzas. Well I just had a real bad night due to allergies and I just ordered an entire breakfast pizza that I’ll pick up on my way to work and I’m going to just eat the whole thing.

    How is everyone?

    Update: Is good.

Huh. Casey's recently took over all the Circle Ks around here. I'll have to keep that in mind for my next dirtbag breakfast opportunity.

They have a great sausage gravy to crust ratio on their breakfast pizza, and a couple of months ago they offered them with a beer cheese drizzle that was *chef's kiss*

I would probably not kiss the chef at Caseys gas station, but their pizza is pretty good

My second attempt at a matcha latte came out a little better.

I just shook it in a jar to mix and foam it before adding the hot water this time. Worked better. Tastes better than it looks.

Yeah it did yesterday also, just not as badly

Granted I'm not like breaking out or having trouble breathing like you might expect having ingested something

My eyes are puffy and dry and red though and I'm dizzy as all get out and my sinuses are irritated but it's all calming down after a Claritin a bit ago.

Man this sucks. I really like drinking a big tasty glass of green ooze. Makes me feel like a ninja turtle.

You could try making a spirulina drink to get the same feeling?

As a bonus it also tastes like dirt and grass

When it's cold and rainy is there anything better than getting a big old bowl of Pho for lunch?

Edit: technically I got a medium bowl of Pho, I guess

I got a new nice charcoal grill/smoker and I'm going to smoke a chicken and some veg and grill burgers and dogs tomorrow, really give it a solid workout, is there anything unconventional that is good if put in a smoker for a while that I'm not thinking of?

I've seen a really good looking smoked watermelon but now I don't know where I saw it.

    That'd be interesting.

Cold smoked fish and cheese - separately - are good.

More basic is ribs, steaks, brisket, turkey was great.
