well Marvel snap did not want me to finish that challenge with a bunch of aero decks and also like 3 more central park for some reason but I finished it so the laugh's on them.
Also I'm up to rank 38 this season I need to just look up cool decks more often. I'm having quite a bit of fun just dumping out multiple she-hulks and the funny space man.
That moment after you hit "Retreat Later" and realize, while the game is waiting, that you had a guaranteed win because the opponent couldn't play any cards...
There's a player survey in the inbox at the moment.
Liking the idea of personalised cosmetic suggestions (like variants for cards you play).
Mainly because I regret not picking up Band Multiple Man to go with Band Quake.
It's somehow comforting to know that even with the free 5 level jump when I hit 40, I still can't hit 50 because I immediately lost a dozen matches in a row to a combination of Thanos and bullshit
1) Silence 2) Books must be returned by the last date shown 3) Do not interfere with the nature of causality

I just retreat if I see a stone, easier and less cube loss than trying to force something or getting a lucky 2nd or 3rd location. At 49 though I only see Thanos 1, maybe 2 times out of 10 games or so a day.
I think I deleted my old surfer deck but brood and maximus are good choices. Rogue is also a very good tech card for the deck since you can stuff up some opponent plays and they still get benefit. Sera is a good choice in the deck because it will allow you to get surfer and two other cards out on turn 6.
So does that token shop change mean that we will no longer be able to buy series 3 cards?
Clarification from Hoogland, it does seem series 3 will no longer be in the token shop to buy with tokens, you get 1 free series 3 per season, the rest you have to open/acquire. I am 6 away from Series 3 complete so I don't think this makes a bug difference for me in particular but it seems like an odd thing.
Series 3 cards left: Dagger, Hell Cow, Polaris, Thor, Titania, Typhoid Mary
Side note, is Valk worth a pin at this point? I already have Shuri, I think I saw something about them tweaking Thanos so I am torn on if I wait to get the tokens and then wait for him to rotate into the shop.
It really sucks for people starting now and undoes what the token shop helped. Welcome to CL500, please wait three (3) months to assemble Aero, Wave, and Death
oh yikes. that change is way worse than I thought. I'm down to 17 series 3 cards left (Or what is it? 19, 20 once the next set drops) and with that new change it's going to be an extremely long time to get that collection done. that change just seems like a strict downgrade now.
I was 2 cubes away from from 60 and am now at 58/6. So frustrating losing to all the Thanos/Shuri decks out there, but even worse losing by just a single point of power or a 50/50 play.
Not having Shuri means missing out on a lot of cubes, prior to her potential nerf. I know lots of decks can get to infinite, I'd just like to do it easier.

Yeah that's assuredly better than it is now. I'm at CL1704 and I have one of those cards.

That is assuming you get to pick ANY series 3 each month, is there confirmation on this.
I just pulled Surfer out of a cache. What's a good Surfer starter pack? Thinking Brood and Maximus.
The best use of Surfer I have had luck with is actually in a patriot deck. There have been quite a few games where surfer comes out and buffs Brood, Patriot, Cyclops and Mystique, assuming I don't have Ultron which would be the play that turn, and it totally messes with the opponents math.

If they're not that good, then cube gain rate is divorced from MMR.
I guess we'll see in a couple of weeks though, or whenever the visible skill level changes drop.
Duh? You get 50 free cubes for ranking up. Those have nothing to do with your MMR/skill.
As I said earlier, the system is designed to be inflationary. Bots, free rank up cubes. Your rank will wander away from your MMR every season.
Getting to infinite is about skill + time. The skill threshold is very low based on the number of people who are god awful at snapping.
Now you're saying that the infinite players are good again, because they went from 70 to infinite in a couple of days.
That is they must have 'skill' because they didn't have time.
And then they get matched with me, who hadn't left like 72.
The only way I can see to make matchmaking consider that match-up fair, is if our win rates are about the same, but the cube gain from those matches from snap decisions wasn't factored into their skill.
.. or it took far too long for their matchmaking skill to catch back up to a deliberately tanked ranking.
But that would have required significant effort as well, as they would have had to out-pace my end of season ranking losses
Disc the reason matchups are super loose in Snap is because they prioritize speed above all else and want you to search for like <5 seconds to get a match. You will encounter very wide MMR and rank gulfs as you play.
It's also very, very easy to put 2-3 weeks of casual play into a 1-2 day grind session.
Anyone else having people wait until almost full time for each round? Really drags games out, are they hoping you retreat instead of having a bunch of time wasted? A chess clock type system might help, max time spread across all 6 round, use up too much in the first few and you have to make a quick play in the last round or 2.
Another half dozen games against 4/5/6 Shuri. I think I’m going to just play for my missions until the balance patch drops because this Shuri/Thanos is the worst thing ever.

It is often better strategy to wait for the end of the turn before snapping, so that the opponent has locked in their move.
Opponent plays Zabu. Next turn, they play Jubilee, who pulls Mystique. MYSTIQUE COPIES ZABU???
Jubilee doesn't count as played until the card that she yoinks in has resolved, I believe.
So when Mystique looks for the last card played it only sees Zabu.

No I'm saying they played a lot of games in a very short amount of time. You both probably have similar cube rates against similar opponents. The difference between you and them? Games played.

Yeah, no.
I'm still at 76, and am unlikely to hit infinite regardless of time played.
If I had Thanos or Shuri, I could have likely pulled off the same infinite run as they managed, but as it is, highly unlikely I could mirror that.

If infinite players are better than non infinite players and you have to play them to be infinite, how does anyone hit infinite for the first time?

I think the whole thing is a pretty clear indication that Rank is more about games played than skill. As long as you have a (reasonable) positive cube gain rate will get you there eventually.
Playing against other Infinite players makes it harder to get there, because the people who get there first will tend to be better (having played fewer games and/or dedicated more time to play). This is probably a way to make it easier to get to Infinite the longer the season goes on while also ensuring that players don't just throw games once they hit Infinite (when combined with the Infinite MMR floor).

This actually applies to almost anything. A card only counts as played if it was put onto the battlefield from your hand for its energy cost (modifiers included), and only counts as being played after flipping and all abilities finish resolving, which can result in nested on reveals in some cases.
If infinite players are better than non infinite players and you have to play them to be infinite, how does anyone hit infinite for the first time?
They play better cards largely.
So the players who hit it with pool 3 Sera Miracle are what, savants?

Thought experiment: What changes would need to be made to the game in order for you to be given the opportunity to know (or better approximate) what is in your opponent's deck before the match starts?
I'm thinking that there probably need to be more cards per deck, just to expand the probabilities.

I don’t think it changes much for F2P, but if you were buying token bundles to spend on S3…. Welp.

But yeah, if series 3 is not purchaseable, that seems like a huge step back, especially since that pool of cards will always only get bigger.
But you had that month to cycle through the shop for the specific S3 you wanted. In the new system to you get to pick the S3 card?

If you use the rarity filter, you can see which locations are rare. Not sure if this is a official but it is directionally right.
