Trying to math out my token acquisitions going forward. I'll be series 3 complete in one more card. Knull is the only May series 3 drop I don't have so I'll grab it with my freebie.
Sauron is 3000 tokens now, dropping to series 3 end of next month. Would be nice for my Shuri Zero deck, an archetype I've always liked and is still fairly good.
Jeff! is 6000 tokens now, dropping to 3000, also in June.
I guess it's a question of do I get up to 6000 and buy Jeff sooner, waiting for Sauron to hit series 3? Or spend 3000 on Sauron now and 3000 on Jeff later. 6000 is probably farther away than I think, though.
I don't want Galactus, and I don't really want Kang that badly. Maybe after these 2 but I can see some upcoming cards that I'd like more (Iron Lad/Howard the Duck, most of the Spider-Man cards for next month)

tl;dw for those of us that don't have time for videos?
I'd agree. 1-5 are generically useful cards that can go in all kinds of decks. 6-9 are archetype enablers, particularly Patriot and Electro. The rest are a mix of archetype enablers or very important secondary cards and more generically useful cards.
My advice is to grab generically useful cards if you don't know what else to get. If you're interested in an archetype, go for it. If you're close to having a critical mass of archetype cards, try and finish it out. Patriot is a safe early pickup since he combos well with cards you already have. A lot is just going to depend on what you open randomly as well.
I have the whole first row, which is nice, but only.... 2 from the second row? I have Magneto from the third row, but the rest I don't know, don't think I've ever tried a deck that would use 'em.
Edit: Oh I just grabbed Bast right after this post as my free S3
I'd also not have Daredevil on my list; just seems like you'd win a lot of 1 cube games unless you're snapping before T5.
(Or at least he's been sitting in my collection doing nothing)
And Doom is good but I wouldn't have thought second place good.
I have thanos pinned now, excited to try him eventually. And nebula once I get a tiny bit more Google survey credit so I can buy the season pass. Gonna just stick her in everything
Cozy’s thinking was that Control has never been better and DD does a ton of heavy lifting on turn 5. As for Dr. Doom, he allows you to play into all 3 lanes at once, including locations that might be locked out. Plus, he’s huge into Sandman metas, which we can still say we’re partially in.

I'm tempted to pick a Daredevil deck and just run it with some other beefier 2-drop.
With Doom, just thinking of the decks he's in, Ramp/Lockjaw, maybe patriot.
He's never struck me as particularly strong.
On reveal has also not really seemed strong enough in general
I guess with all the lane deny decks, he moves up, and he's a surprise wincon in other decks too, but a surprise Heimdall might be better there.
...
Looks at tier list for Daredevil.
Recoils in Galactus.
Was also a Thanos junk deck running him.
There was a Sera/Zabu deck running Omega Red as a cheap Doom which was pretty funny.
There's also GotG/Nebula/lane control at the moment, which runs daredevil.
I don't/won't have Nebula for a while though.
It's nice seeing Drax getting used though.
He has the best On-reveal animation.
Meanwhile, I steal a cube from the deck by running Patriot/trash/Zabu/Sera.
And playing Skrull.
"Would you like to end the game early Y/N?" as they proceed to not play their Prof X, which would shut the two open lanes that I'm contesting (having ignored the storm lane).

Unless you very specifically want to play a Sauron deck you do not need to waste tokens on him. Just wait to get him in a reserve. He's not very good and his play pattern isn't super interesting or unique imo. It's just "make cheap fatties" by another name.

Coincidentally, "Make Cheap Fatties" was the name of our boy band in high school.
Man, it's really unfair when you snap T1 with Weirdworld and they drop cards T6 from their original hand to win.
I've been playing your good cards, why aren't you playing my terrible cards?
Clearly I need to put Crystal in, to get around their initial good cards.
I'm looking over the remaining S4/5 cards I'm missing and almost all the S4 cards are trash. Stature is looking good with the recent deck featuring her going around, but 3K tokens for a niche card isn't a good buy. Especially when most of the S5 cards this month are looking amazing.
With 6.5k tokens, I can only pick up one S5 card. I'm targeting High Evolutionary, Jeff!, or Iron Lad. Getting 1 S5 or 2 S4 cards a month via tokens feels really bad. And 5 months between S5 to S3 is way too long. Maybe if there was a pity timer to hit a S5 it wouldn't feel so bad, but getting a S5 from a Cache is just about impossible. Has anyone here opened one? I'm almost 5k CL and it's a nope for me.

Stature is meh imo. Just a very boring card that does almost nothing outside of discard matchups.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
For our serious climbers, how often would you say you win/lose 1/2/4/8 cubes? Like, are you mostly a slow, consistent climber with 1/2 cube wins with a sprinkling of 4s and the occasional 8? Or do you gain mostly 4s? On the losing side, do you bail early and mostly lose 1/2 or go ham and lose 4/8 sometimes?

But having thought about it, 8 cube games are rare, and I'm probably going in knowing I can counter their gameplan.
4 cube games are normally they snapped and I'm not sure whether I should snap or not, so I let it ride, probably breaking even on those.
Or I snapped early, and they let it ride, which is usually a comfortable win for me.
Otherwise, a lot of 1 cube retreats.
Some games go to 2 where I don't think my hand is overly good, but I can't see what they could do. Again probably breaking even at the end of the game on those.
And quite a few 2 cube games where I've snapped early and then the opponent retreats when I play my hand.
Normally I only stay in early snaps from the opponent when my hand seems decent to beat Galactus or otherwise can counter probably any deck they're playing.
It's very different when I'm playing a linear deck.
Snap early when I have the line.
Snap later when I can't see them beating me.

In the past two seasons, I bail at 1 cube if I'm gonna lose, and win 4-8 cubes on the good games.

I don't think I'm quite who you meant, but during that hot streak last season I found that I was retreating way more and staying in only when I knew I had some kind of nonsense to pull off Turn 6 on Dinohawk, one way or the other.
Still had a couple of Knull blowouts until I learned that the tells were essentially the same as for Galactus. e: But tended to include Venom, now that I think about it.

I’m playing the deck, and it doesn’t look like it should win anything ever, but somehow it does.
With Stature in the deck, you start to notice how much casual discard is happening. Discard is still a pretty popular deck as well.
Still iffy about Miles tho. He’s only slightly safer play than Titania for the same statline, and I keep messing up that you only have the one turn to play him cheap. Wish he stayed cheap forever like Stature does.
Dark horse cool interaction tho? Playing Black Bolt after Wave. He now hits *any* card in their hand, because they all cost 4. LOL
Orka: 6/9 to 6/11
Collector: 2/1 to 2/2
Luke Cage: 2/1 to 2/2
I like all these changes. Orka doesn't do much, but a pre-nerf Destroyer with (almost) no downside could snag a few wins. The Collector now only needs to see 3 cards added to your hand to become a 2/5. And the Luke Cage changes could allow Cerebro 2 to come back to the light as a mid-tier deck.

Nice, I've actually been running Orka in my Wide Open Spaces deck:
Basically leave the right lane open (or play Green Goblin) and see what you draw.
Sentry+Viper is what you really want. That's a 23 power swing across two lanes for 6 energy. If they're not flooding their own board you can do it on turn 6.
I'll play Hood in the middle lane and flip him over if I draw Viper but not Sentry.
Orka goes over there late if nothing else has yet.
Cloak to evacuate that lane in case of Debrii or enemy Goblins.
Cosmo in left lane prevents Sentry or Destroyer from doing their thing.

I guess at low CL you don't -need- a perfect Sera deck.
But once you have Sera and Zabu to go into a control deck, you're pretty set.
Shuri's an odd choice too, after the nerf.
