Oh man ended up fighting Ganon and finishing BotW up for the second time since release. I liked it more the second time I think. Was a lot of fun and knowing what I needed to do to beat Ganon was super helpful lol.

The music in this game is some of the best in the series tho. Hits me hard every time. Especially when you're in Hyrule Castle and the theme starts playing while you're climbing up the mountain. It felt like the end of an eventful journey.... Goosebumps man.

Hyrule Castle music should never be:

    -Ominous sounding
    -Seamlessly mixed with Ganon's theme.

This is supposed to be a happy place.

    Well that looks fucking amazing.

Might have shown off a bit too much, but hopefully that means there's lots they didn't.

    So, final trailer drop.

It goes really fast, so far I've noticed the following:
    Ashitaka vibes
    Ganon the wind surfer
    Sidon partner
    Mech Combat
    Villager defense
    Cart escort
    Bird friend
    A Viking Long boat

The only thing I’m not hyped for is another Zelda (the person) sitting on her ass after realising her full potential. You held back Ganon for 100 years and you haven’t got like, the ability to summon light arrows on lock yet? I’m imagining a scene where Zelda laments being lost and helpless when suddenly a moblin appears, so she kills it with Superman style eye lasers before continuing to gripe about the situation.

Adore that music though! Hints of Classical Japanese instruments, regular Zelda motifs plus the backwards Twilight Realm sound, a touch of Saxophone for a second I think too. Glorious!

I’m not struck on Matt as Ganondorf, but only because they obviously asked him to do Generic Saturday Morning Villain 2 from his repertoire of voices. Gimmi an accent or something tangible that says this guy is an ancient king that has been revived after 10000 years of torture/stasis. Still, it’s clear that’s what they’ve asked of all their voice actors.

Love that Urbosa has lightning powers is never explained and it’s now a learnable technique by the Gerudo.

Regardless of if there are official capital ‘D’ Dungeons, it looks like there’s plenty of event filled locations that do the same job. I think we’ll all be happy with whatever they’ve come up with.

I read in the concept art book that the reason the Gerudo present day champ was a kid was simply to have diversity in size. Now that they’ve aged her up I see they’ve swapped out the Rito guy for his son. It’s neat to see their design philosophy at work.

They’ve clearly kept Sidon the same since he’s a fan fav, but I wonder if they’ll switch up the Goron since he was bland in comparison to the design of Daruk, a character who’s name I remember.

I could go on, but I’ll let the youtube people do that. Oh last thing, bucket helmet man is my new fav.

So, I'm not a speculation kinda guy beyond like "hey it'd be neat if" but the Twilight Princess field theme poking through several times does inspire a bit of thinking.

Reusing music is certainly a thing the series does regularly (it's actually one of my favorite things they do!), so I'm not holding my breath for some of the fan theories to be confirmed, but the fact that we have a few tiny things pointing to the same conclusion is... interesting.

Zelda gets kidnapped by gravity then gets a haircut. Buckethead is already my favorite character. Derpy mech combat looks like it has the potential to be amazing. Link gets a part time job as an Uber driver.

After that trailer I don't even want the master sword anymore. I want to punch Gannon with my ramshackle mechstrosity while commanding a multi-species army of Hyrule's feistiest hobos.

Wonder if we can charge Gannon right from the start again. Forget rescuing Zelda or solving everyone's problems, just rush in half naked with your duct-taped weapons, armor, and improvised machines.

I finally watched over lunch. Hype level too high, must dehypify... I am super damn tempted to pick up BotW again and try to continue my Master mode run but also I kinda don't wanna Zelda myself out or something. I dunno.

Also was watching a few reaction videos and while they were pausing a lot noticed some stuff. (you know what, I'll spoiler this)
First time they show Ganondorf's back looks a shitton like Demise. There is also a character wearing the same clothes as Zelda but with dark skin and long hair - curious if that is actually Hylia.

There was also a weird supercut between a structure rising in Gerudo Desert and then spliced to look like no, this is just Hyrule Castle rising. No, bad Nintendo! You can't trick me! It's almost assuredly not this but it kinda reminded me of the Pyramid of Power from ALTTP. I hope it's something recognizable like Arbiter's Grounds or Spirit Temple or something :3

Also, when Zelda is falling her Sheikah Slate is starting to glow. Someone I was watching pointed out that Link's does the exact same thing during the Ganon fight when he's teleported to Hyrule Field for the big Kaiju battle with pig Ganon. So it seems like she teleports out of there, probably to the sky.

I have also hear speculations that you might get NPC companions like Sidon, etc. But who knows. I did like the Hyrule farmer guy wearing a bucket for a helmet :3

Unspoilerfied, I'll just say I like that they showed a lot of new stuff in here, but just small glimpses. So it's like, yeah no, that last gameplay thing we showed isn't all the stuff. There is way more stuff, don't worry. Not that I was worried but man they could have hung like all of the game on that fuse mechanic alone.

I think that trailer has more spoilers than all the previous trailers combined, in the case of gameplay, at least. Different effects with fuse, crazy contraptions with ultrahand, new puzzle mechanics, interactions with NPCs, just a ton of stuff. If you want to discover most things on your own, skip this trailer. Still very little on the plot, though.

    I’m MEGA hyped.

I dunno, I feel like I got the jist of the plot from that. At least enough to not spoil stuff but be hyped all the same.
They find sealed Ganondorf, he breaks out, burns the shit out of Link's hand and the Master Sword and kicks Zelda off a cliff. Link's hand is infused with Zonai green goo and Zelda is teleported to the sky where she has to help the Zonai do Hylia stuff involving the tears of the kingdom (which will help Link in some way). Meanwhile Link is going around building up and/or supporting an army to fight Ganondorf and otherwise just doing Link things and eventually finding Zelda in the sky. Big epic Ganondorf fight on floating Hyrule Castle. Also something something lots of lore about Hylia and the Zonai.

Edit: Some arts of a couple characters in the trailer (I'll spoiler too just in case)

You know, with the decades of “eye symbol with tear under it” I’m surprised it’s taken them this long to get up to Tears of the Kingdom.

Also I don’t know if they’ll actively use the word Twili, but I’m reckoning the weird lizard guy with big white hair is essentially the same kind of person as Midna.

The music flips to Twilight Realm motif directly before and after seeing him.

And it is official it was who it sounded like in the trailer:
If you thought Ganondorf sounded like Matthew Mercer that is:

I just got the go-ahead from Nintendo, so I can FINALLY announce my absolute pleasure to be voicing Ganondorf in the Legend of #Zelda : #TearsoftheKingdom.

An immense honor that I have thrown myself into doing justice.

Neat for a dude whose first bit of notoriety came from playing the same character in a webseries a decade ago.

Something that came to my mind in the trailer.
People have noted that Ganondorf's outfit is in places reminiscent of the robe he wore in The Wind Waker. I would also like to note that when he radiates dark power from his head, it's coming from the center of the forehead, which was where he was stabbed at the end of The Wind Waker.

A theory I've had since BOTW came out is that BOTW follows (after untold centuries) from Wind Waker. And that that game's ending could explain how Calamity Ganon came to be. If a fragment of Demise's mind still existed, still sealed in the Master Sword, that mind and Ganondorf's could have mingled while the two were trapped, locked in a stone statue, at the bottom of the ocean. Such an experience would easily explain the power, madness, and unending hate of Calamity Ganon.

Now, this could all be coincidence; hell, this ancient Hyrule being uncovered and repopulated would kinda break the way that Wind Waker ends. But I do find the potential parallels interesting.

I should look up what else I might recognize them from, because initially it sure sounded to me like Liam O'Brien, but I did start replaying Darksiders recently so I have that voice in my head.

But after a second it was clear that it wasn't the same person.

If I'm being completely honest though, I kinda wish it was.

Honestly, depending on the voice either of them are doing at the time, I'm more likely to mix him up with Troy Baker.

But as far as "You might remember him from such rolls as" go:

    -Chrom from Fire Emblem
    -Yusuke from Persona 5
-Kanji from Persona 4 (in the animation and side games where they don't have Baker doing it)
-"Field Team Leader" from Monster Hunter World

I guess as far as Nintendo roles go, Chrom's the bigg-un.

The one issue with that I think:
Link and Zelda found a new Hyrule across the sea after Wind Waker, leaving the old one behind entirely. (Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks)

BotW is still clearly the original Hyrule geography, more or less.
