Break effects do instant damage, delays enemy action, and has a very high chance (but can be resisted) to slap a Damage over Time on the enemy. Looking at a wiki, each element has differing break damage to balance for their accompanying DoT.
Physical - Very high Break Damage, Bleed debuff that scales off enemy max health (hello Elden Ring) but has a cap
Fire - Very high Break Damage, Burn debuff that has moderate damage over time
Ice - Moderate Break Damage, Freeze debuff for moderate damage that skips the target's next turn to unfreeze but advances their turn after that by 50%
Lightning - Moderate Break Damage, Shock debuff that inflict very high damage over time
Wind - High Break Damage, Wind Shear debuff that stacks up to five times
Quantum - Low Break Damage, Entanglement debuff that delays enemy action by 20% with a bigger DoT that builds with each hit (up to five) then ticks all at once on expiring
Imagination - Low Break Damage, Imprisonment debuff that delays enemy action by 30% and reduces their speed
Still no clue why Fire TB seems to get way bigger breaks than Phys TB with me only swapping the Cones, then, but good to understand. Most of that was reasonably clear, I just hadn't heard the official breakdown.
Lost the 50/50 on the lightning mech, got Gepard, so I guess I am just going to, uh, use 4*s for damage until I find some more story guys weak to ice?
If you want the REALLY official breakdown there's damage formulas, I just translated them a bit because didn't know if you wanted the dread spectre of MATH

Gepard is pretty good and can solo defensive support one team in Forgotten Halls/Memory of Chaos at least up to a point. 4*s for damage is no big deal anyways, Dan Heng and Serval for example are both great. As long as you are using actual dps classes and not Pela or Asta or Tingyun as your main dps you'll be fine.

Nah, "what should I be doing," was more the intent of the question. It's still odd to go from Space Bat for solid steady damage to Fire TB doing not a heck of a lot output-wise until he gets a break, and then wham.

Yeah, I bumped him up and can almost keep a team upright through Simulated Reality 3 with him and Bailu at their silly baby level.
And then it decided I also needed Bronya?
Apparently all the luck I didn't have early in Genshin was waiting for me here?
Damn, I convinced myself that new banner would be here soon, but apparently it will appear in 10 hours, so only after I go to sleep and wake up tomorrow.
This reddit post explains a ton of HSR mechanics. I've seen a bunch of this information elsewhere but I think it's pretty well written. Worth a look unless you are already a theorycrafting wizard.
I really enjoy space bat aesthetically and I'm sad FireMC is so much more useful
Bat is nice and all but spears for protagonists are criminally underused so I'm fine with that pick
Oh definitely my neighbor and I used to fight over who got to use the spear in Secret of Mana. Just something about the kinda casual way she whacks space monsters with the bat makes me smile.

Fighting over the spear in a game with a whip is just silly.

Doesn't work for me. My view on loot is that it belongs in my pocket, not a museum.
I was 40 rolls before hiting Pity, but unfortunately lost 50-50 to Yanqing E1 (BANE OF MY EXISTANCE, I already have Seele, so im not sure how often will I even be using him) instead of some new character at least. In the end, I needed to use almost all of my savings (110 of 120 special passes) in order to hit hard pity and get Silver Wolf.
90 pulls to get Silver Wolf. I'm pretty sure I spent 70+ on the Seele banner without getting her, then 30 on Jing's without getting him either. These rates are horrible, and it's not like I pulled anything else useful to make up for that. Guess I should go ahead and assume I won't get any of the next three or so characters.

Won the 50/50 and got Silver Wolf early in soft pity, her 5* light cone isn't nearly as stacked as JY's so I'll probably just slap that event light cone onto her
HAHAHAHAHA oh my god this game and my luck. Jesus christ.
I had exactly 35 premium tickets saved up for this event with the intent of going hard in the paint for SW till I get her, damn the consequences. Had roughly 35-40 pity stocked from rolling on the previous banner.
I do three 10x pulls. Nothing great. A couple Serval and Asta and Dan eidos, the Resolution Shines light cone. No 5 stars. My pity must have gone over 70 at this point.
Well, I have 5 tickets left, might as well manual pull them. OH SHIT, GOLD ANIMATION!!!!! ...Aw, it's Bronya. Well, I mean it's Bronya. Hear she's amazing. Can't be too mad at a Bronya. Alright let's burn the rest of these 4 tickets and get ready to farm.... And on my very, very last ticket stocked... Boom, Silverwolf.
Got Silver Wolf on 20 pulls. (Didn't have to win the 50/50 thanks to a Bronya pull previously)
Debating on light cones for her. The event cone seems super good for her (40% effect rate and energy regen when hitting anyone with def down... which uh, that should be up most of the time I think). I do also have Welt's cone, but... it doesn't boost effect rate outside of skill and she's rolling for debuffs on literally everything she does, so...
Well, well, Welt. That was unexpected. I got Welt E1 early (40 pulls), and while I did at first make a face because at least make it a new one it is both early and I just finished watching a video exactly about Nihility getting a buff so can't be too annoyed. Still decent shot at Silver Wolf now that I'm giving up on Luocha. Gonna do the new quests and stuff to get resources then spin that wheel.
Uh, I got Silver Wolf on my only 10 pull. It's a shame I don't have Seele. But I did get 2 Serval eidolons too, so that's good. Just trying to figure out if I can make her work without the obvious Nihility combo.
1) Silence 2) Books must be returned by the last date shown 3) Do not interfere with the nature of causality
It's funny how Silver Wolf tries to look cool and awesome but is actually just a little brat. Also funny is how Herta tries to look cool and awesome but, you guessed it, is also just another little brat.
Screwllum is the one adult in the room watching the other two have a slap fight.
I snagged another 5* on the standard banner, which ended up being Welt's E2. I knew him, but it feels a bit early to be stacking those eidolons already.
I am getting close to standard banner pity (I think I need 20-25 more rolls), but im starting to get afraid that there is not much of a way to grab new free standard rail passes, until I start leveling everyone up to level 70, which will take literal months.
Couldn't sleep so I did the whole Silver Wolf event in one go. I'm not entirely sure if not timegating these things at all in a gacha game is the best way to do it since now I again have nothing to do ... other than level up my Silver Wolf, I guess. Unlike seemingly everybody else I've had 100% bog standard mediocre luck and I got my guaranteed SW at 81 pity. Not sure how awesome she will be but it should be fun to have a bit more options than just the same old 5 characters I've been using. I also got a whole bunch of Serval, Asta and Dan Heng eidolons which is nice since I use Serval and Dan and plan to use Asta in the future.
One thing I realized when I was figuring out what relics SW should be using that there's no +hit set yet other than the 2 piece planar. Western is probably the best 4pc set for her with the speed bonus, not that there's much competition.

I did a couple ten pulls looking for Dan and Asta eidolons.
I accept your terms.
Edit: my luck has been really good so far, I've won the 50/50 for Jing Yuan (twice!) and Silverwolf.
I think I've gone 50 pulls for SW, just some eidolons so far. Serval is like max+2. Don't have the 50-50, but I should be able to get another 20 warps.
I also had 10 regular tickets lying around, and that got me regular Bronya.
I threw like 60-70 at it and it gave me Gepard, which is nice I guess because i hear he's super useful in MoC. But no SW and that used like 70% of my jade
Couple QoL improvements they've made. Minor ones but still nice, like making it so that if you're sprinting and change character you maintain the sprint without losing speed, picking up every daily objective box at once when you have multiple unlocked, and some other miscellaneous

Much like Pela, SW is a sub DPS of sorts (or if you have eidolons a main DPS but don't go crazy) as well so the Quantum set is not necessarily bad on her either. I'm currently not totally decided whether the 6% Speed is better, though Musketeer is also still the safest relic farm currently since it's good on literally everyone so you can't really go wrong.

123 pulls to bring sw home (started at 30 pity). Every 5* I’ve gotten so far has been exactly at 77-78.
Thanks, being exactly average
i read their little review and it made sense, once you get the ones that increase the debuff lengths you can gear more to personal dps.
