Meanwhile, new companion quests for Lynx turns out to be a lore apocalypse, because it reveals that Pela is 16, which when put together with everything we have learnt so far about her and her relationships with other characters makes everyone go
because quite frankly, this does not make any amount of sense, and runs on pure unadulterated anime logic

Based on her achievements Serval should be in her late 30s or early 40s but is definitely in her 20s at most.
Something I've felt that most sci-fi properties never really touch on is that when you're dealing with multiple planets, all of which have obviously different rotation times around their suns...
What exactly is a year anyways?
The only property I can think of that even remotely tries to address it is Mass Effect, where if you view a planet's stats, it'll actually translate that planet's year into Earth's equivalent.

Best not to put much thought into any of it.
The only explanation that makes any semblance of sense - especially based on what we see in the underground - is that Belobog believes that secondary education or a job (E: possibly and a job, given Pela) starts at about 14 for above-worlders and had child labor in the underground.
Like most weird, dark implications in a Mihoyo game, this will go totally unexamined.
Alternatively, Pela is just THAT amazing to be able to take part in military operations when 10 years old, while also writing books and playing in the rock bands, who can tell?
This is also a planet that's been frozen for so long it literally forgot space travel existed and that it was once capable of it. There's only been one functioning city during that entire time fighting a constant war against Fragmentum monsters, so honestly I would not be surprised at literal children being in said military if they're able to offer results when the workforce is constantly depleting.
Also now that the planet is starting to unfreeze the IRSIPC is here to claim back taxes like the parasitic capitalism religion it is.
buddy at 16 she's already too old to save the world or fight god, so she has to take a boring desk job as the head of military intelligence. don't you all know how the anime job market works?

Ugh, decided to go all in on Fu and got a big FU. 110 pulls netted me Yanqing and E1 Lynx... which I guess will end up being my new defensive char since I'm outta jades.

Cleared Swarm 4 almost by accident doing the Trotter Hunt objective.
Yanqing gets real, real rude with deep Hunt and the Aftertaste suite.

I know nothing about the other Honkai games, but I've been curious. I think I briefly entertained the idea of trying out Honkai Impact 3rd but the combat seemed weird from what I'd seen. Plus trying to get in to a mature gacha is kinda yikes.
Did some math and if you'd start from nothing, building a 4* and a 4* LC from zero to max (level 10 traces) would take about 4 weeks. That's without relics. Obviously there's all sorts of other sources for things, especially cash and xp but still it feels like pretty steep cost compared to many other gacha games I've tried.

I think that's only if you max out their traces, and you probably shouldn't do that. Diminishing returns and all that. The only person I maxed out completely is Kafka because I'm a simp.

Of the Mihoyo games, HI3 is the only one I've kept up with playing daily. I started it after Star Rail but don't feel like I'm screwed by starting so late. IMO it's the most fun and has the best endgame content. I'm not big on turn-based combat, though.
Starts off rough, though; the story, storytelling, and gameplay design for early characters and fights versus the design for later characters and fights is wildly different. Early characters are simple button mashers going through a barebones plot, later characters/storytelling/cutscenes/etc are more complex than anything in the other two (so far, anyway. I'm kind of surprised they're not coming out the gate on Star Rail with similar 'basically ten minutes of anime with an original vocal track' type cutscenes. Genshin cutscenes are getting a little more involved lately, at least).
You can just go through the story with what they give you for free, since the early stuff is trivial compared to anything you get for free and as soon as the story starts getting decent they start having you do everything with trial characters relevant to the events occurring instead of your own.

Yeah, I usually just go for lvl 8 traces. It takes a few days off from the 4 weeks but it still feels like building a character takes a long time in this.
For Kafka I actually got her Ult to lvl 10 too since that defines her DoT and it scales really well - rank 8 is 225% ATK while rank 10 is 290% ATK. On the other hand Luocha's traces are like lvl 6/7 even though I use him all the time, he just heals so much there seems to be little point in leveling those or adding a piddly few points of damage to his ult.
maybe that math is correct but it doesn't really feel like it takes more than a few days to get a character up to useable.
traces at 6, lvl 70, LC at 60 or 70, hodgepodge relics is really my baseline and feels useable even in MoC.
Maybe it's that I'm at a point where I'm never really starting at zero. Like with DHIL I feel like it took about a week to be playable and two to be powered up, I burned all my stamina on ascension mats and then leveling books, bought the herta store LC, then maxed that, bought out the starlight store of his trace mats for the month, then just used all my stam on trace mats and wastelander gear which i'd never farmed before, with a resin on crit rate chest.
It helps a lot once you get a bit ahead of the curve. Like, it's been a week since the last banner came out, but I have both Fu Xuan and Lynx fully ascended and with good traces (certainly not maxed, but as discussed, they do not need to be). I might've burned some fuel, but the main reason is just because I already had enough exp stockpiled, and they were able to borrow relics and light cones from other characters too. So I really just had to beat some stuff for ascension materials and traces, and about a week is all that took.
The only way to "get ahead of the curve" is to either spend cold, hard cash on the BPs or reduce the number of characters you are building. There's no magic trick to it. Eventually anybody playing the game actively will hit a point where building more 4*s gives very diminishing returns and materials will pile up but as a f2p player I'm certainly not there yet. Been working on Lynx and she'll be ready in a week or so, then I can save some xp/cash for the next patch and new 5*s I'll be getting.
When I say "the curve", I'm just talking about "the rate that you get new characters". There's a huge initial hurdle of building up all these characters who were in the game at launch, but eventually you will get everyone you care about up to speed, and then you will only really need to spend time building whatever new characters you pick up. F2P players will be able to stay ahead of that curve, but it will certainly take them longer to get there.

Yeah I mean.. I've been in that position in Genshin for well over a year now, probably closer to two, the only thing that holds me back is new characters that require a brand new boss' materials. Honkai will be the same eventually.
You don't just randomly get trace or ascension materials though. Sometimes an event will hand out a few for the latest character, sure. That's about it. You have to go out of your way to specifically farm them up every time. This is assuming you passively pick up all the experience mats for characters and light cones, and pulled the right light cone in the first place, as you can't even farm light cones anywhere. Even the currency to buy the 'free' ones is time gated.
That's not even getting into the gear grind. One resin per event that can still roll four garbage stats barely makes a dent.
Took Lin-chan for a spin in SU and felt like her healing was pretty weak (lvl 6 traces, 4700 hp, +10% healing) but when I looked at the numbers vs Nat she seems to have pretty close the same sort of healing output potential. My Natasha just has higher +healing as Lynx is using ERR rope, HP chest and Nat a HP rope and a Healing chest. Lynx's E1 would help a fair bit I think.
On the other hand my short experiment on using Lynx's skill on Clara was a huge success, Clara was getting her ass kicked almost 100% of the time.

So, I might be reading too much into some of the Lynx interactions and other Belobog things, but it's starting to look less like Sampo is a zany weirdo and more like he's homeless and possibly mentally ill.
Unintentional subtext strikes again!

I'm still thinking he'll be the first Elation character. Or maybe he's actually the Aeon of Elation itself.

there's gonna be a throwaway line somewhere like "Aha, it's Sampo" and every lore person is going to release a 3 hour video explaining it.
It's fairly evident to me that the reason March's "origin" is inside the ice block is because that's when she, as in the person known as March 7, was born. The reason the Garden is trying to convince her not to seek old memories is because if she learns those old memories then "March 7" will die in the process and whoever is left afterwards will be someone entirely different. The clue is in the name after all, in the movie the protagonist is literally a different person after the memory alteration compared to before, and for the original person to be restored the new one would have to die.
The conclusion that the memories were sealed by an Aeon indicates that whoever the original person was they were both important enough and potentially enough of a threat to warrant direct action from an Aeon. They don't often involve themselves with mortals like that, even Lan doesn't act based on the need of the Xianzhou. He's attacking the Abundance and if there's other things around then too bad because he only sees his enemy.
After losing the 50/50 and having to roughly hit pity for Fu, less than 5 pulls later, I reset my 50/50 stock on the gold ticket pulls by pulling my first Welt. Now I have every 5* from the basic banner except for Clara. Time to go back to saving for next banner.

Boy that Huohuo announcement came out of nowhere. Not that she wasn't leaked, personally I did not know that she was coming up. Certainly different than when Jingliu and Topaz were officially announced.
Very basic description of what she does, based on an old leak that may very well have changed:
Her skill heals the whole party, and her talent adds a heal over time effect to the party when she uses her skill. Her ultimate regenerates energy for the whole party and increases their attack, and her talent regenerates more energy over time after she uses her ultimate.
I haven't seen any numbers, so I don't know if the attack boost and energy generation is enough to basically treat her like a Harmony character.

I swear it was a coincidence.
You stay out of this, Hu Tao.
Also Bailu needs to stop "prescribing" sweet tea to her because they're both gremlins.
