Sounds like 1.6 (yet another patch before Penacony, when we'll hit 2.0) will have Ruan Mei and Blade for the banners and then Dr. Ratio and Kafka. Seems I get to save up for another patch cycle. And 2.0 will have Black Swan as one of the banners.

They weren't kidding about an entire year between planets. This ain't Genshin where each land is a fully explorable area, that kind of time gap isn't really explainable.

By the way they mentioned that when Penacony drops there's going to be new Crimson Calyx materials. So just like Genshin, don't overfarm the materials we have now once you've finished any characters you have/intend to use.

There'll be an exchange possible, but the exchange rates aren't known and if it's not 1:1 probably better to put that stamina into relics instead.

Instead of being excited for new characters, I'm just dreading being able to pull maybe one of them. And, going by my history, it'll be the one that ends up being least useful.

Honestly I kinda prefer it this way. I don't really fall behind, I can keep a casual pace and not worry about fomo. It's pretty nice. But everyone is different there so I get it.

I'll mostly be happy to get away from the warehouse that is half the Luofu.

And this is why I would like Penacony faster. The Luofu specifically is boring. Belabog, a city that was essentially frozen in time for a thousand years, is more interesting than the entirety of the Luofu.

I wouldn't mind the limited planets as much if they'd add actual new zones and dungeons to them. Instead of a new corridor or two that uses the exact same tileset. The new enemies have all been incredibly annoying each update too, which doesn't help.

Space China is the absolute worst, yes. Can't wait to go right back to it...

It is legit cruel for them to run a month that stacked.

At the very least, the last zone that was added to Space China is very unique. I agree with what everyone else is saying about pretty much everywhere else, though. Each area might look good in isolation (like, say, Aurum Alley for a random example), but they are all very same-y.

I'm not complaining about the rate of getting new content, though. We might not get "new planet", but every patch has had a substantial amount of new content. We've also had a constant flow of new characters. Genshin had... three rerun banners, and one banner with a non-limited character, before 2.0 released. And no, those were not alongside new characters. Those reruns were back-to-back-to-back, as well, so there was a gap of two months between new characters (Hu Tao and Eula).

Spooky ghost area is by far the best, yeah. And I enjoyed the Alley. Both just came after slgging through everything else there.

We are getting content, but for whatever reason most of the Luofu story content isn't very interesting. It finished the main story then kinda started meandering around.

I'm not sure how I feel about it all. I wonder if it's the pacing.

belobog was able to be taken as a whole and it felt like it mixed in all of it's different story bits and let them breathe more, outside of the one return for sidestory patch we've had there so far. and I'd say the topaz patch felt refreshing like we had spent an appropriate amount of time post crisis to start to see how things are changing.

The loufu had a much harder job of being the "first part of the next journey" and the start of the patch cycle. It felt like we kind of bumrushed the main crisis and now have just been hanging out for a few months. It definitely has let them tell much different kind of stories than if they were smaller pieces of the main crisis and I think they've been good stories individually, but it feels more like the momentum is gone. we're no longer building toward anything on the loufu. we're just... there?

my recommendation is still the same, it's an intergalactic game. They can take more advantage of space stops. "we met up with a ship" "we stopped at the IPC casino space station" "we solved a crisis that can be contained to a small map instead of a whole planet and we'll revisit that place again someday"

I am fully expecting Washtopia to be a recurring joke, where they keep saying we are going to go there, and never get there.

I mean, it's only happened the once so far, but I could definitely see them doing that.

Maybe we are still in the giant bug's stomach, just hallucinating we are having adventures. So we'll never reach Washtopia for real.

During those content droughts I wouldn't mind more of the SU events. Swarm was quite fun and involved! Plus the other SU even where we just got all the things. It's fun to feel OP in a limited setting.

    Spoilers for the current update:
Pretty sure they say that the Express made it there eventually. Maybe in a post-mission message with Argenti?

I'm guessing this will be much like Genshin where the main story gets movement in X.0-X.2, then other stuff goes on in the X.3-whatever versions. Seems to follow the same pattern here.

If we get another Swarm type event, I really hope it gives weekly points. Grinding that and doing the weeklies in normal SU was a bit much a few times. I actually still have a bunch of stuff left in Swarm mode but grinding those ??? events that require 20 choices of a type just doesn't fill me with joy.

  • Options
MadicanMadican No face Registered User regular
Yeah if Swarm could get weekly points I'd be more inclined to finish it up faster. Still haven't finished unlocking Propagation

  • Options
    ReynoldsReynolds Gone Fishin'Registered User regular
I've finished everything in Swarm, and I can confirm that finishing the 20 choices was horrible. It took me 2-3 days of mindlessly resetting while watching something on another screen.

    uyvfOQy.png

The fact that it grants zero points was a weird choice for me. Even 2k would feel like enough to warrant the grind. Now I just feel like I don't have time for it.

  • Options
AshtonDragonAshtonDragon AKA The Nix Registered User regular
I'm sure that was a common complaint that they heard, because the other Simulated Universe event that happened since Swarm Disaster (Planar Infinity) did grant weekly points.

  • Options
    initiatefailureinitiatefailure Registered User regular
it's probably not the only reason i haven't made a ton of progress in swarm disaster but it definitely is one reason. the game already asks me to do 1-2 sim worlds for dailies each week, and the two full runs for its own rewards. disaster is kind of the thing to do when i want to battle and have down time but right now there are two events running and I guess that's probably going to get increasingly further down the list the longer i take to get to it from other things added to the game. the rewards are good and i'll get to it eventually but from a game time perspective it's pretty low on the priority.

  • Options
    ReynoldsReynolds Gone Fishin'Registered User regular
It'd be nice if Swarm gave anything repeatable you could farm. Literally no reason to look at it again now, haven't opened it in weeks. I'm pretty sure I said that would happen as soon as I saw how it worked, too

The Belobog Fight Club is fun if you use the trial characters like it clearly wants you to. The Argenti propaganda is real when he's smashing the field for 300K+ damage in one round then pulling the Goofy meme and fuckin' doing it again because the bonuses refill his energy to full when he breaks a toughness bar

Absolutely unrealistic of course but sometimes it's fun to be a powerhouse

Ohh yes, double calyx rewards week. Since I can't stop building characters I've been working on Gui and this might just get her traces sorted out. Doesn't help that she needs her skill maxed given how high the scaling is for the dot.

So I know everyone's been talking about how much they've cranked up the difficulty of Memory of Chaos, but I decided to try MoC10 first with some suboptimal teams, just to see if I really need to go all out. Went with a Qingque team on the first side (which I figured would be fine, but the Memory Turbulence would be better for a Seele team), and a Clara team on the second half. My Clara is new; I only just picked her off the guarantee a couple weeks ago, so I wanted to test her. Long story short, wound up in this situation:

    HSbGhgJ.png

I'm on the last turn before I'll lose a star. Argenti's almost dead, and will certainly die to either a Clara counterattack or her own turn. However... he's probably going to do an AOE, and Topaz will not survive it. I took the screenshot to show just how close I was to clearing it without needing to bust out Jingliu.

And then Argenti died to the bleed.

Apparently he is heavily nerfed though, so this is still a play to convince people to roll for his E1 + light cone.

    Still, pretty cool.

I've seen so many "character X is trash" posts based on beta that have ended up being completely false when the character goes live I'll just wait and see how he is before getting sad about how bad my free 5* is. One thing that seems odd about his kit is that he very heavily depends on debuffs but he doesn't seem to apply them himself, so he really needs a Nihility pal like SW or Gui to work properly. Or that's what it looked like with a brief glance at his skills.

Edit: Based on what people are talking about him right now they are saying he is maybe the strongest single target DPS in HSR. Not sure where you got the "heavily nerfed" from?

I suppose it's possible that he was nerfed, but is still very strong. I haven't followed leaks that closely, though. I usually look up characters' kits to get an idea of what they do, but I don't try to make sense of their numbers until close to release. Either way, free copy is huge! I really liked the look of him, but couldn't possibly justify rolling for him, because he was sandwhiched between Ruan Mei's banner and 2.0, not to mention that even Xueyi isn't on his banner. Considering I recently decided to pass on selecting Welt, I'm still critically lacking an Imaginary DPS, so this is a huge W for me.

I'm instantly suspicious because Hoyoverse has never given out a free 5* ever. Unless you count Aloy, and she's really nothing but a promotional gimmick and not very good. Shit, the whole 5* choice after 300 pulls is fuckin' generous by their standards. This is like Ebenezer Scrooge giving out a massive Christmas bonus. It's not unwanted or unwelcomed, but it's also wildly out of character.

IMO, they looked at upcoming characters and current usage, and realized most people don't have a reliable source of Imaginary damage.

On completely different news, they let some sort of asshole design the newest FH 5th stage. The starting screen recommends fire among other things for the second half of the fight and then the fight starts with two big Blaze Out of Spaces who are heavily fire resistant and burn resistant. What the hell?

My Clara had to basically solo that part of the fight. Gui did nothing as her whole kit is about burn.
