Self professed moderates feels like overton laundering

I honestly respect people more if they say they just don’t follow politics.

Self-identifying as a moderate in today’s climate is about the stupidest thing you could say about yourself to other people

I don't know how anybody can be moderate after the last 6 years.

40% of America leans one way and 40% of America leans the other way. I bet a good number of Moderates mute themselves because don't want to be yelled at.

Today I tried making some strawberry rhubarb soup. It was okay.

Vanilla extract is no substitute for vanilla bean. Strawberries got a bit too cooked and lost too much colour - next time I'll add them once it's off the heat and cooling.

It was hard to find the cloves afterward so I might bag them next time.

I used 18% cream and it ended up curdling a bit. There is too much acid in this soup and I think I need to go for something fattier like 30% (or something in between). Or maybe a bit less on the rhubarb.

Tasted good, but a lot of room for improvement.

All this pi talk reminded me off this, a particularly unintuitive (to me at least) piece of rotational ball physics where the outcome is that independent of size or mass, a ball on a spinning disk will enter a 7/2 stable rotation if there is no slipping or air friction. A hollow ball is 5/2 instead.

I still remember Jim Webb’s 2016 primary campaign being essentially a coalition of inept crybabies mewling about “there’s no party for people like me!”

Also. And this is a pro tip. If you call your grandpa. He can come to the hospital. With some minimal paperwork grandpa can review records and consult on a treatment plan. And with more extensive paperwork and license checking. He might even be able to assist.

The thinking has a lot of "my dad's a lawyer so he'll sort it all out", failing to appreciate that sorting it out, if possible, is still a very complex and often time consuming thing.

I really hope he gets treatment soon.

Yeah it was definitely coming across to us here at the hospital as some weird power play that the patient wasn’t fully understanding.

“Heart condition? Lol, my granddad’s is a cardiologist! I got this!”

“You need treatment at the hospital,”

“Ha! He works at that hospital!”

“Okay, great, we’re sending you over there,”

“Nah, fam, I got this, didn’t you hear who my grandfather is?”

    🫠

Does granddad have a fully-staffed cardiothoracic surgical theater in his garage? Probably not, because the fucker works at the same hospital we’re trying to send you to right now, you goofy tit

The game took six years to make, though. They set a new high standard but they also had all the time and money they needed.

(No one tell me how many years Gollum was in development.)

It is wild that it is now the fastest selling Nintendo game ever. A very mechanically dense, bit obtuse, Zelda game.
Though total sales is going to be hard, since Mario Kart 8 has stupid numbers.

    At 24 fps.

The physics engine is fairly incredible and I'm interested in the main "slap shit together" mechanic, but the combat still looks boring and nothing is really forcing my hand to get it as of yet. It just looks... fine? A bit gimmicky.

There's 2 other games directly on the horizon that interest me a lot more.

I've been looking at used prices on DSLR gear since a month or two ago there were some links to MPB and how affordable it was to get started. Got a $500 spot award at work, so decided to pull the trigger on it this morning.

Got a Canon EOS 60D with a Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS and Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens to go with it. Came out to almost exactly $300, I went a little older and cheaper on the camera body that originally planned. I can always buy a more expensive one if I find the 60D is too obsolete, and if I do end up upgrading there are some modifications to remove a filter to make this camera better for astrophotography.

I also ordered a t-ring adapter that will let me use it with our telescope either directly or with an eyepiece, although from what I'm reading that can be super tricky without a tracking mount but at least this gets me started on the hobby for a pretty decent price.

I think part of that is, despite our general American penchant for unhealthiness, we don’t generally do big desserts? Like, we love dessert, but it’s usually a fairly small serving.

An entire bowl of anything seems like a lot of dessert.

I don't know if this is the recipe being used by James and ngl it sounds pretty good

Orange juice, rhubarb, strawberry, vanilla yogurt, and mint? Yeah I would probably murder it.

Not the recipe I'm using but yeah, that sounds like it could work too.

Sweet/tart cold soup is good. But also perhaps only normal if you're accustomed to cold, very sour, or otherwise intense soups.

The best thing about the game is that for any given problem, there are infinity solutions. Like, look around, find a place you want to get to. Come up with some lunatic Rube Goldberg way to get there. It'll probably work.

It's like Sequence Break: The Game.

Also, it's weird how literally every Zora you meet seemingly wants to fuck Link.

Even, like the betrothed one is all, "I love my fiancé dearly, he is everything to me, also hey Link, I'm so glad you're back, I missed you so much, can we talk? Do you think of me when I'm not around? Okay, you go save the world, but you're coming back right? Okay, let me know when you're around, we can catch up."

This really isn't my jam when it comes to gameplay, though. I know a ton of people love being able to do these crazy contraptions because of the sheer volume I've seen on Twitter. If I could identify my least favorite action-oriented thing to do in games, it would be physics puzzles. I know Nintendo has a habit of making shit work, but I've also been turned off by a lot of their gimmick excursions in the past.

I did not like Majoras Mask for instance.

One of my nearly daily meals is a bowl of strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, banana, unsweetened vanilla greek yogurt, 2-3g of turbinado sugar, honey granola, and a splash of lime juice.

Just some basic stuff for now, pictures of kiddos sports, the doggo doing stuff, maybe some automotive shots, wildlife at the farm. Then I'm also thinking about dipping into astrophotography which looks like the basics are around another $500-1000 to start getting interesting stuff. But I still should be able to do some somewhat neat to me basic stuff with the setup I'll have.
