Hmm... I wonder what the "acting" role for Lewis might be. Based on photos from this weekend, it looks to me like a lot of the drivers will at least have cameos in the movie:
I'm sure they'll all be in the background somewhere. Same as real drivers were in the likes of Grand Prix and Le Mans, and some will likely have a few lines. Hamilton I'm sure will be playing a version of himself, but he strikes me as someone who'd be interested in dabbling in acting anyway, even if not as a main (post-F1) career.
He's already got a movie credit in Cars 2 as well, as I recall. (Edit: and Cars 3 in a different role!) And Tom Cruise offered him a role in Top Gun Maverick but he had to decline due to F1 commitments.
Danny Ric available on the fantasy website already. Love his avatar. I messed up my changes allocation earlier in the season because I guess I didn't understand how it works, otherwise I'd swap to him just out of principle.

I just did that because why not! Gasly hasn't exactly been lighting up the track lately.

So I kind of understand Red Bull's approach. You only have 2 driver slots, and there are way more qualified applicants than you can ever realistically sort through on your own. If your stated goal is to win championships and not just "compete", then it makes sense to constantly pull the lever until you hit the jackpot.
They come across as pretty ruthless but Albon got a pretty good run all things considered - he was just called up too early. And by all accounts Tsunoda has had tons of support. I think Red Bull are just quick to push someone out if they see particular red flags that show up early which they think they can't fix or aren't worth trying to fix. But in general I don't think they've made any particularly atrocious decisions.

Yeah, they gave Albon a season and a half, but I think they did Gasly dirty.
EDIT: Though, to be quite honest, I don't think Gasly would have improved at Red Bull, so maybe it's not really relevant.

Yeah I mean, do any of us here think Gasly has it in him to win championships? I certainly don't.
While De Vries wasn't setting the world on fire, sacking him like this still seems harsh. I thought they would have given him to the summer break at least. After all, Tsunoda wasn't exactly great in his first season either. The very public criticism pretty much every week from Marko also can't have helped. Perhaps there are other factors at play with Perez underperforming though.
Perez' recent run of form makes for an interesting comparison with the perpetual nearly man Hulkenberg. If you cast your mind back to 2020, he was in the running to replace Albon at Red Bull. He was rumoured to be the lead contender as well, until Perez' win at Sakhir changed things. This season, Hulkenberg is doing a pretty impressive job in a pretty bad Haas car, and recently seems to have an edge over Magnussen. Not bad for having been mostly out of the sport for three years. Would he be doing better than Perez if he'd got the seat? Who knows, but fun to think about. After all, "IF is a very long word in Formula One; in fact, IF is F1 spelled backwards."
wasn't gasly crashing? i seem to remember him crashing. say what you want about perez (and i certainly will) but he keeps the car on the road, or at least off the wall, and in a budget cap environment, you kinda need that
Goodwood is such an amazing collection of cars and drivers from all eras. If you enjoy motoring/racing you owe it to yourself to check it out.
Absolutely. I got a bit emotional last year seeing Nigel Mansell reunited with the FW14B. And that was but one moment among many.
My dad used to go every year, sadly his health doesn't really permit any more, but I always liked seeing his pics and hearing the stories about the sort of very notable people he'd seemingly randomly bump into.
I've never made it myself. Maybe one day if my own health ever permits. But at least we have the streams now.
For the second year in a row, I inquired for tickets too late and the 4-day passes and saturday tickets were sold out already. Trying to make it for next year.
Speaking of old Porsches - here is one, photographed at Spa Historic in May this year.

That second, scary, collision seems wholly avoidable. Not sure if it's on race control for not immediately showing a red or the FIA for having too loose of yellow flag procedures but there's zero reason someone should be getting t-boned 10 seconds after the initial shunt.
His fan base seems split: Some argue that ramming into Hasse was inappropriate (one Twitter user wrote "what a baby") while others approved ("what a legend" appeared several times).
Naturally.

A couple of expensive shunts from Goodwood (the drivers & spectators are all okay, I should add)... firstly a McLaren F1 GTR:
...and secondly, an F1 car current Red Bull designer Adrian Newey scored some early success with, the 1990 Leyton House Judd CG901, which stings a bit as I saw this very car extremely up close and personal at the Sywell Classic back in 2017 - it seemed to be a mechanical failure locking up the rear, not driver error as far as anyone can tell:
Some of my pics of the Leyton House from when I saw it (Penske Indycar also visible):
I do hope it's fixable but I have no idea if any of the others (Wiki says five were built) still survive, and that was a big smash.
Still, it's the risk of taking these machines out still and not letting them languish in a museum or something. If they're going to be used there is unfortunately always a non-zero chance that they might not make it back in one piece.
i think it would be a matter of irresponsibility for Red Bull to keep Perez in '24. You can't go in *assuming* you'll have the constructors by August. You have to assume your competition is real.
If there was a second team with red bull speed then Perez would be a smoking crater and Red Bull might in second... too much money on the line.

In practice and qualy mostly. Which is expensive, but less obviously detrimental to the team's points.

On the livestream, they said one person was standing and the other was sitting up, so it sounds like no severe injuries.
Noone seriously hurt luckily it looks like.
Anthoine Hubert vibes...
Incredible luck and engineering that everyone is ok there.
Naturally.

I'm sure it can be rebuilt to be fit for museum purposes, even if it doesn't run again

Only if Helmut Marko has added corvid to his diet.
(I mean, maybe? It would be a hilarious turn of events)
Crow because of Perez or because of Ricciardo?
Yes.
So yeah, Ricciardo probably has it.
After all, "contracts" are more like "guidelines" at RB...

Insane
I am extremely curious to see how the race itself shakes out.
Thanks for mentioning that, as a highlights only watcher I didn't know about the tire rule, though I did notice they were all the same tire in q1.
