I just did a similar thing with my wife, forgot I still had a price drop alert set up for the UCS Millennium Falcon until it went on sale, when she'd told me she'd given up on that for now because she'd rather have Rivendell. We laughed, I did a quick search and found Rivendell for $670AUD down from $800.

It's on it's way, figured it's almost her birthday and she has a few weeks off work coming up.

I may have done a stupid thing and bought the Lego NES. I say stupid because at the price point, I could have bought a genuine Switch OLED.

...But I already have a Switch. What I don't have is a Lego NES. Moral quandary solved!

What country are you in, because in the US the Switch Oled is about $100 more than the lego set?

Canada, and you're right, it is ~$100 more here as well. Still, at these price points, what's an extra hundred. Fuck at these price points, we're almost dropping a hundred just on the damn tax.

Much like the other kinds of opium, there is a substantial loss of value once you actually use what you buy and I don't think people here are intending to buy without using.

The NES is one of the most fun builds I've done. You chose wisely.

(The scrolling TV screen was a bit of a slog, but it went fast.)

In other news, someone said "Razorcrest on sale" and I got excited but it's not the UCS Razorcrest.

But now I'm on Amazon's website and I'm seeing "Frequently bought together" with the UCS Razorcrest, Millennium Falcon, and AT-AT, and I am skeptical that $2,300 in Lego sets are Frequently Bought Together.

Finally finished building Starry Night -- I kept stalling out, I guess because some parts of it were pretty repetitive, though the end result is great:



It's interesting that the frame is a different colour than the original:

Even used you can get significant ROI on popular sets, especially discontinued ones.

I have it set up in my cube at work and literally everyone who passes through comments on it the first time they see it.
