I Can Quit [LEGO] Anytime I Want (And Other Lies We Tell Ourselves)
This thread is for discussion of our favorite ABS-based addiction and what we're all looking forward to. And remember:
This thread is an opium den full of opium addicts discussing how much they enjoy opium, what opium they're looking forward to getting in the future, new opium that's been revealed, how to best display or store their opium, and opportunities to buy hard to find opium.
I told her that I successfully resisted the urge to buy the Lego Pac-Man cabinet and she's like, "Well why did you do that?"
I submitted an entry to Lego Ideas, and if 10,000 people support me, it'll be turned into an actual Lego set!If you'd like to see and support my submission, follow this link.
I just did a similar thing with my wife, forgot I still had a price drop alert set up for the UCS Millennium Falcon until it went on sale, when she'd told me she'd given up on that for now because she'd rather have Rivendell. We laughed, I did a quick search and found Rivendell for $670AUD down from $800.
It's on it's way, figured it's almost her birthday and she has a few weeks off work coming up.

I told my wife that Amazon had Boba Fett's throne room on sale for $65, which finally felt reasonable. I said I'm tempted, and her response, "I know, WE'RE in pretty deep on the Star Wars sets."
This is like when a mob boss forces you to commit a crime so now you're a criminal too, you're in it together with them, and if you try to rat them out to the police, you'll go down too.

I may have done a stupid thing and bought the Lego NES. I say stupid because at the price point, I could have bought a genuine Switch OLED.
...But I already have a Switch. What I don't have is a Lego NES. Moral quandary solved!
I am laughing my ass off at the 2 near phone book instructions that have come with it. Like a good sized tree had to have died for this. And I thank it for its sacrifice.

What country are you in, because in the US the Switch Oled is about $100 more than the lego set?

Canada, and you're right, it is ~$100 more here as well. Still, at these price points, what's an extra hundred. Fuck at these price points, we're almost dropping a hundred just on the damn tax.

Questionable financial calculations are really the only appropriate ones for this thread.
Did you know that when you buy Lego, you are actually making money?!?
Much like the other kinds of opium, there is a substantial loss of value once you actually use what you buy and I don't think people here are intending to buy without using.

The NES is one of the most fun builds I've done. You chose wisely.
(The scrolling TV screen was a bit of a slog, but it went fast.)
In other news, someone said "Razorcrest on sale" and I got excited but it's not the UCS Razorcrest.
But now I'm on Amazon's website and I'm seeing "Frequently bought together" with the UCS Razorcrest, Millennium Falcon, and AT-AT, and I am skeptical that $2,300 in Lego sets are Frequently Bought Together.

Finally finished building Starry Night -- I kept stalling out, I guess because some parts of it were pretty repetitive, though the end result is great:
It's interesting that the frame is a different colour than the original:

Even used you can get significant ROI on popular sets, especially discontinued ones.

I've got this sneaking suspicion that the designers of the latest Friends buildings also got to work on the latest 3-in-1 buildings. Just look at this gorgeous one that's coming out soon: https://www.lego.com/nl-nl/product/main-street-31141

Marry her again.
And harder this time.
You should reward that enabling. I suggest getting her a Lego Pac-Man cabinet too.

We! We're in it together now! ❤️
So, looks like it's being delivered tomorrow.
finally I can throw out my dyson bladeless fan to replace it with this levitating blade-ful fan that doesn't really cool that much or work reliably
You can buy a second and just dump the pieces on the table for authentic battle damage.

Or build it halfway and get a bunch of Lego jawas stripping it down.
