I think you could assign an excel macro to a hotkey, but you would probably need to keep excel running and active for it to work.

While I haven't used anything like it myself, I imagine that something like this would work

If your keyboard, macropad, or single big key/button can be mapped using VIA or VIAL you can setup custom macros through there.

AutoHokey is also another option https://www.autohotkey.com/

I'm doing a dumb thing at work. I want to have an excel macro run whenever I push a big button connected to USB. Does anyone know of a big button I can buy that can be reprogramed to do a button combination at will?

Is that USB? I had some come with my commodore style keyboard but it plugs into the back of the keyboard with a headphone jack style connector.

I saw this but was worried because they come with preset keys they emulate and you are supposed to contact them to tell them what you want them to do? The excel running isn't a problem because it will be.

Basically I need a button I can press that will send the command CTRL+J (Or some equivalent that excel doesn't use by default) to excel.

the super buttons look like they plug in with a 3.5mm jack to the keyboard yea.

something like https://www.amazon.com/usbpushbutton-Usually-Arcades-answering-Machines/dp/B0D2KJX9JL seems like it fits what you're trying to do. it seems intensely cheap but

Judging by the USB connector they are slightly exaggerating the size of the button

Someone forgot a decimal separator. Or maybe it is shipping from somewhere that uses commas instead of periods and the autocorrect removed them.

Well looks like student services is getting gutted and they’re going to advertise to get external applicants. Despite being told to, I’m not going to apply since I don’t want to give up my classes. Overall, I’m pretty annoyed about it besides there are less opportunities for growth in general with the school, and I think there are going to be less chances for kids to get to know teachers and form strong relationships with them.

On the upside, I applied for like a aspirant leadership thing that’s being run and I won one of those positions, 17 people ran for it and there were six spots but several spots are for more niche positions so it’s good I won the position.

After a glorious quarter century, the subwoofer on my Logitech 5.1 speakers has well and truly blown.

What's the deal with computer speakers these days? I see that Logitech is still selling an essentially identical set of speakers for 500 goddamn dollars, do I just buy a new subwoofer and keep on trucking or is there a new hotness? For what it's worth, the rear speakers are currently in the closet because they didn't seem to work with most games and I was tired of having them strapped to the headrest of my computer chair.

    The best computer speakers is

A headphone amp and a pair of nice headphones

The best computer speakers, aren't computer speakers.

You get bookshelf speakers and a way to drive them.

Then if you decide you need more, add the home theatre subwoofer of your choice.

I would start by picking your budget, and then doing homework here.

I am using a pair of KEF Q150's, and am driving them with a SMSL SA300. When I upgraded my hometheatre, I repurposed my oldr SB-2000 (before they added the app control smart app dealie.)

It's a pretty rocking set up and a HUGE upgrade from my old Logitech 2.1 system (the precursor to the 5.1 system you are replacing).

That's just to give you an idea though, you can spend less, or more, as your budget allows.

Headphones are nice, but cant touch a proper system, particularly for base reproduction. That's just physics at work. If you don't have the space for a proper system, headphones are a good alternative.

Avoid soundbars and purpose "computer speakers" like the plague though. Utter rubbish.

If you are reading this add me.

On a serious note, I bought some Edifier computer speakers a while back that sound fantastic.

Edit: I think they were the R1280T or something like them.

Yeah I have about 6 different pairs of headphones, some +$1000, but when the wife and kid are out the speakers come on.

My current speaker setup is a pretty basic 5.1 but you just can't match that energy. I've been shopping for a while now for a nice upgrade but speakers are more of a rabbit hole than headphones and that was already painful.

I have a Yamaha NX-N500 speaker pair for my PC in my office, they're great. They have normal AUX input but they also have a USB DAC on board so you can just run a USB lead to them from your PC and use the built in DAC/amp rather than whatever sound chip is on your motherboard. They also do blueteeth and airplay and musiccast and it's a darn shame they stopped making them cos they're excellent.

My buddy is a huge music nerd and naturally an audiophile as well. I have to admit, listening to a $4k speaker setup is a truly different experience compared to the average home audio system. Not saying it's worth the money to me, but i get why it is to him and those cursed enthusiastic about music.

Yep. I can tell the difference between a $100 speaker and a $1000 speaker. It may not be worth the upgrade for me, but when I go somewhere else that has them I do appreciate the difference.

Not the other snake oil in audiophile stuff, though. Some of that stuff gets wild.

My favorite is gold plated optical connectors. You know, to help that light transmit better?
