I have never been able to solder, and i needed the power adapter on my laptop replaced a long time ago. Call up a local repair place and they quote me 180, i said, what if i already have it disassembled and will reassemble it as well? 40 bucks. Maybe you can find something like that? Like yeah the laptop/TV repair dude won't take the whole PlayStation, but maybe if you bring him just the motherboard he might do it, and might save you some money as well.

If you have a Pixel phone, you should be able to download the Android 15 update now.

Ordered an iPhone 16 Pro Max.

I was due for an upgrade. Have to wait a couple weeks though because they’re back ordered…

Yeah the good stuff (like the 80% charging limit) is being rolled out in December.

Do people still use screen protectors?

What is a good, cheap one? I haven’t bought or used an invisishield since I stopped getting my Best Buy employee discount

I just got whatever cheap one I could find off amazon

seems to work fine, and they've made applying them way easier with the little tray and spreaders included

I've found the Torras ones to be good. They also make great underrated cases.

I usually grab the ones on Amazon that come with a whole applicator rig. Makes the installation totally foolproof, so you never waste a protector.

I like these Spigen ones specifically (and I'm sure there's a 16 Pro Max version too): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C9S24VV8/

Ah, it stinks, it sucks, it's anthropologically unjust

Prices have really come down. I remember when the minimum for an invisishield at Best Buy was like $35

Kindle is finally releasing a color e-ink device. But it doesn't have a forward or back button. Guess I gotta keep my Oasis trudging along.

I need those buttons. Why they got rid of them is beyond me. Not having to move my hand when reading is huge.

I also have both a spigen case and screen/camera protector. The camera sticking out a few mm from the back of the phone really worried me so this is the first time i have ever used a lense protector but i have already had to replace it twice so money well spent i guess.

Oh Zagg are still super expensive. But the cheap ones are just fine and when they come with three in the box it's undeniably better because you have extras!

If you want to make sure to get it right, get a hot shower going and install it in the steamy bathroom. Really knock the dust out of the air so it doesn't come floating down between when you clean the screen and put on the protector.

Should I also be naked during this process?

From a practical perspective probably not because you're adding more skin flakes and body hair to the mix.

    But you do you, boo.

lmao if you don't setup a full negative pressure clean room to install a screen protector what are you even doing

Are Zagg seen as expensive? When I got my 12 I think I paid 11 bucks for one with a lifetime warranty and I've replaced it twice since then for free no questions asked.

When I was working at Best Buy (granted this was close to 9 years ago) Zagg shields cost anywhere from $25 for the basic up to like $70 for the highest end.

I actually put a new screen protector on my phone last night. It had several cracks but the thought of Raijin naked and wiping sweat out of his eyes while he tried to apply one in a steamy bathroom was just what i needed to motivate me apparently.

I've had a Logitech harmony remote for like over a decade. It is a really good universal remote. It is dying and Logitech doesn't make them anymore. Anyone know of a good universal remote that can be programed to control multiple devices? For a minute I thought I didn't need my bluray player attached to the TV since I moved the PS5 out there but the Bluray is UHD4k while the PS5 is not.

    You're fucked!

I mean... honestly? It depends on what you've got going on. If you can get your HDMI-CEC handshaking to work right then you can just use your TV remote. My TV has a button called "Action Menu" that pops a line across the top with things like the open/close button, the player's Home button, and all that.

If you want to experiment there's the Sofabaton.. It's trying to be like a new Harmony Elite but I've heard conflicting reports on how good it is. At the least it doesn't have a recurring fee like other companies tried to do so it might be worth playing with.

Otherwise you're looking at URC/Control4 which means spending at least a grand on a remote, control base, and someone to program it because the assholes won't let just anyone program them.

Edit: Also, maybe look at eBay for a refurbed Harmony 650 or 665.

I have the U series sofabaton and the little scroll wheel they have for switching the device you're controlling is absolute garbage

i've got it mostly setup so you don't need to use that in general use

but if one of the devices goes wonky and you need to go through it's menus it's a real pain in the ass and doesn't speak well to their build quality

Alternate dystopian take - there's no need, everything is on 24/7 already. What you need is a remote to turn them all off.
