I'll admit it, I spend entirely too much time on reddit. I doom-scroll the Ukraine invasion thread every day looking for updates. I spend an inordinate about of time on the AITA thread. I waste a good 20% of my waking hours on that site.

It's an addiction, for sure. I went cold turkey and deleted my Reddit account a few years ago, and haven't looked back.

And this comic is absolutely right. These systems are designed to generate and feed off strong emotions. We're living in a sci-fi dystopia where a group of people have literally found out how to monetize toxic animal rage.

I deleted my Reddit account a long time ago but I’m still on there a lot at work. I only briefly had tiktok some time ago, and that was some kind of dystopian hellscape

I removed Reddit from my bookmarks after the whole mass reddit strike. I still have an account and I'll still rarely use it to check for info on some specific game or fandom, but I don't keep browsing the front page and clicking links 4-5 times a day.

That change has considerably improved my life.

Deleting your reddit account is super easy.

I've done it over and over again.

I don't have account on Reddit, i occasionaly read a page here if i'm looking up something online and the solution is there.
I never had a twitter account. And Tiktok... if anything i'm closer to actively avoiding going there.
I do post youtube comments, though...

Reddit has been extremely useful with multiple hobbies and interests. But it does have its dangers

I found that tilting it doesn't work very well, and once I started jerking it, I got much better results.

I deleted my Reddit account and wiped my history using a script, but I found myself reinstalling not because I wanted to read very much, but just that I like to be able to vent about the world sometimes, and my life is unusual and doesn't really let me do that. Last century, I guess I would have written letters to editors.

Uninstalling Reddit didn't allow me to forget the bullshit of the world, it just deprived me of a way to occasionally talk about it.
