    Astros are releasing Jose Abreu.

@DetroitTigers, for no reason in particular.
Baez. The reason is Javy Baez.

I just ordered a city connect hat and fanatics is now trying really hard to get me into sports betting and man, all of the sports betting stuff is starting to get to me already. It was already enough that like once a broadcast you'd have your team giving us the lines on the game as if all of their hopes and dreams were dead, but man. now my hat receipt comes with a free bet?

Shota Imanaga has "Mike Imanaga II" on his locker because whenever he goes to Starbucks, they can never pronounce Shota correctly. So now all his teammates nickname him Mike

Mookie has a broken bone in his wrist after getting HBP.

You’d think they could figure out some way to have guards on bats to prevent that from happening.

    another one bites the dust.

tho tricep is different from the usual elbow soreness that puts you directly into a sports surgeon’s schedule without your knowledge

We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Hall of Famer Willie Mays, one of the most exciting all-around players in the history of our sport.

Mays was a two-time MVP, 24-time All-Star, 12-time Gold Glove Award winner, and a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

In commemoration of "The Catch" as perhaps the most famous play in the history of the Fall Classic, the World Series MVP Award was named in his honor in 2017.

    Mays was 93 years old.

Dodgers drop 7 in 9th for comeback win over Rockies. A no-swing call on what would have been the end of game turns out to be the go ahead homer on next pitch. Rockies are mad bro.
“When I’m running in (before the last of the ninth), he looks me right in the face and goes, ’Cave, it’s not even close,'" Jake Cave said. "Everybody in the world could see it was at least close. And he did swing. It’s a big game, it's one of the best teams in baseball and we’re battling with them.

“That game’s won on that swing, That’s a swing-and-miss, the game’s won, and we beat the Los Angeles Dodgers."

Also earlier in the game Shohei hit one back to LA. Longest HR in MLB this season, although not even in top ten for the Coors launching pad.

Before the game at Rickwood Field tonight, A-Rod asked Reggie Jackson about how he felt being back in Birmingham.

Spoilers because this is heavy shit.
”Coming back here is not easy. The racism when I played here, the difficulty of going through different places where we traveled. Fortunately, I had a manager and I had players on the team that helped me get through it. But I wouldn't wish it on anybody. People said to me today, I spoke, and they said, 'Do you think you're a better person, do you think you won when you played here and conquered?' I said, 'You know, I would never want to do it again.'

"I walked into restaurants, and they would point at me and say, 'The n***** can't eat here.' I would go to a hotel, and they would say, 'The n***** can't stay here.' We went to [Oakland Athletics owner] Charlie Finley's country club for a welcome home dinner, and they pointed me out with the N-word: 'He can't come in here.' Finley marched the whole team out. Finally, they let me in there. He said, 'We're going to go to the diner and eat hamburgers. We'll go where we're wanted.'"

"Fortunately, I had a manager in Johnny McNamara that, if I couldn't eat in the place, nobody would eat. We'd get food to travel. If I couldn't stay in a hotel, they'd drive to the next hotel and find a place where I could stay. Joe and Sharon Rudi, I slept on their couch three, four nights a week for a month and a half. Finally, they were threatened that they would burn our apartment complex down unless I got out.

"The year I came here, Bull Connor was the sheriff the year before, and they took minor-league baseball out of here because in 1963, the Klan murdered four Black girls — children 11, 12, 14 years old — at a church here and never got indicted. The Klan — Life Magazine did a story on them like they were being honored.

"I wouldn't wish it on anyone. At the same time, had it not been for my white friends, had it not been for a white manager, and Rudi, Fingers and Duncan, and Lee Meyers, I would never have made it. I was too physically violent. I was ready to physically fight some — I would have got killed here because I would have beat someone's ass, and you would have saw me in an oak tree somewhere."

Shohei Ohtani is the only MLB player in the last 25 years to have multiple hits, multiple walks and multiple RBI in a game while the rest of his team didn't draw a single walk or drive in a single run.

I love how there's never home run highlights out of Toronto, because nobody on this godforsaken team can hit one.

Oh wait, we hit two today. And scored a total of three runs. And lost. How have we not even fired just the hitting coach at this point?

Damn, the guardians are really good if they can ever beat the orioles or the Yankees this year. Maybe need some better starters but I’m fangirling on multiple players this year and that hasn’t happened in years.

first one in like 95 years, also in detroit.

i’d love to be able to peer inside the mind of the runner on third because it’s truly a wild decision to stop, assess the situation, and then sprint to home.

They also definitely need to not give up 10 plus runs in multiple games in a week

Especially to teams who aren't typically high scorers
