I don't really know how you explain the August collapse, or the perpetual hot and cold ness of damn near everyone on the team, without blaming management

In Ohtani’s last 48 plate appearances he’s slashing .628/.667/1.186
That last one is just his slugging, not his OPS
His OPS is 1.853 there
That first one is a .628 batting average
He’s stolen like 11 bases in that span as well which is about 100% of every base he would have had a chance to steal (no runner ahead of him/right combo of outs to attempt)
The dodgers and the guardians clinched playoffs on the same day I think and I kept going between coverage of interviews at the respective celebrations and it's like "tasteful champagne flute toast to ohtani" smash cut to "gremlins in a tarp room wearing ski goggles blasting bottles onto the interviewers.
Baseball is great.

I've always felt that if they have no issue letting Louie the Lip remain in the Hall, there's no moral or ethical reason to keep Pete, Barry, and even Clemens juiced ass out.
No matter where you go...there you are. ~ Buckaroo Banzai
I know Rose was banned and pretty much that prevents you from going to the MLB hall of fame
Oddly under the previous 3 Commissioners other than him it was Steve Howe [reinstated} and owners Steinbrenner and Schott
Commissioner Manfred has banned more people for sexual harassment than rules violations Roberto Alomar is in the MLB hall of fame but is banned for harassing women after the fact
The 2004 rules about performance enhancement drugs is a long and growing list of suspensions

I think it's that they don't have a mechanism in place for removing people once they're in, and they're deathly terrified of instituting one, so they're going the route of ignoring the problem like it doesn't exist.
It's a shit policy, much like Pete Rose is a piece of shit human.
I enjoy when there's an "East Coast coast" versus "West Coast" type of thing in the championship round, but calling it the world series is silly, considering there's only been one non us team for like 30 years now

Some of the other sports I'll allow it more, no pro teams from other countries are going to compare to the US teams in Basketball and whatever Football looks like around the world, but baseball would definitely have some solid challengers around the globe as would hockey.
i hate what the dodgers did to get around the competitive balance tax and think it would be funny if they crashed and burned as usual in the playoffs, but also i just don't care about them enough compared to the astros, mets, or braves.

Two of the best new pitchers in the league, decent hitting, decent fielding, bad bullpen, bad management and cheap ownership
The drunken sailors of the MLB
THe Twins collapse is far worse

Who’s ready to finally see post-season Ohtani
Baseball is great.
I believe if they split they both get in and eliminate Arizona.
You just don’t get regular season baseball this meaningful usually!
We are off to a good start this postseason if you like watching fanbases have hope crushed multiple times per game.
Finally one I don’t have to feel sad about
and now the phillies might get kicked out of the playoffs by the fuckin' mets in the nlds and that's just the worst case scenario.
Good fucking riddance.

First round is best of 3, all games at higher seed.
Fine!
Detroit over Houston in 2
KC over Baltimore in 3

I'd like to see Shohei in the world series, but I don't have any strong attachments to any of the teams now
I don't know if Philly makes it
It'd be neat to see Baltimore go
anyone else can have at it. phillies have been lost at sea for the last few weeks so hopefully the bye sorts them out somehow but it’s been rough.
Steam
I agree with this. I would usually say Dodgers but how the hell can I hate on guys like Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman winning championships?
Hopefully that hit ball Skubal just took back to his wrist isn't an issue.
