I do that with cheetos but I also just don't like the flavor of lots of "flavored" chips. They're usually just too strong to me.

I can fuck with a salt and vinegar chip, but that's the only flavor I go for. I find a lot of chip flavors too sweet.

I pretty much always go salt and vinegar, but it’s always a roll of the dice. Are you gonna get all salt and no vinegar? A high enough vinegar concentration to strip paint? A nice mellow malt vinegar? A deep balsamic vinegar flavor? Who knows!

Ah, it stinks, it sucks, it's anthropologically unjust

I grew up as a fan of Sour Cream and Onion chips. Those used to be my go-to chip of choice.

Nowadays? I have shifted my preference over to Cheddar and Sour Cream chips.

But I also enjoy most Doritos, Tim's Cascade Style Potato Chips, and the Garden Salsa Sun Chips

A good plain kettle chip is my go to, something with a serious crunch like Cape Cod. Chips are fully a textural experience for me.

The jalapeno and lime ruffles are to die for.

I miss Tim's Cascade chips a lot since I moved from the PNW. Now I basically just bounce between jalapeno and salt+vinegar Kettle brand.

Though now that I think about it, I really wish Lay's would do another round of their weird bullshit flavors. The picanha and tikka masala chips were so fucking good.

Salt and pepper chips are the way to go

Sometimes you'll think it's too much pepper, but then you'll take another bite and realize you were wrong, it's never too much pepper

Utz BBQ tasted close enough to the Humpty Dumpty (now Old Dutch) BBQ chips that it helped me with being homesick, so I have an affection for 'em and buy a bag when I see them in the US

Kettle makes a tasty habanero lime chip that is delightfully spicy. One of the few mass market spicy chips that has some actual kick.

The one time I got the jalapeño cheese, it literally tasted unflavored, so I think they've got some QC issues over at Barbara's. The plain cheese is not much better. But damn if the white cheddar hasn't overtaken the baked Lay's version entirely.

Ah shit, now I know that Flamin' Hot Limon comes in a baked version, I need to hunt it down to try.

My local Safeway doesn't carry that flavor and it annoys me. The jalapeno is good enough, though, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My beef with the more premium brands is that they only ever come in these dinky sizes, half of which are going to be air anyway. I don't wanna buy like three Zapp's voodoo bags to get a reasonable amount of gutjunk c'monman, give me that stuff in dumbfuck sizes.

So I often just end up just getting a party pack size of basic ass Lay's or shit.

Top two chip flavors for me are 1. sour cream and onion and 2. hot.

Barcel (the same company that makes Takis) has a kettle cooked "Diabla" chip flavor that is currently my go-to.

I go through cycles with chips. I either want them constantly in all different flavors or I don't want to even touch them because I'll eat a bag and feel like I didn't taste anything at all

Cumberland Farms has a cheese curl with honey that's pretty incredible, but I won't buy them often because that's dangerous.

I'm a big fan of Trader Joe's Russet chips. Just a great balance of oil and salt, and the slightly-burnt appearance of them is nice, too.

But I really miss Krunchers chips, specifically the old recipe.

Back in the day, they fried the chips in peanut oil. Then they disappeared from the market for a few years, and then came back, but with canola oil and... they were lesser. The peanut oil plus the seasoning in the jalapeno chips were perfection, and they fucked with perfection to "improve profit margins" or some other corpo lizardman shit.

    Tragic.
