* 2K SPORTS ONLINE - Full league and tournament support, league and schedule customization options.

* 2K BROADCAST STYLE - New presentation style will combine TV broadcast with on field commentary bringing you closer to the action.

This seems pretty cool, but I don't really get it. People buy Madden because they get to play the team they're watching. It's the official branding and the current players that make Madden a hit, not the gameplay, which is why, regardless of quality between versions, it just sells more and more. This just seems like generic "football," which, even though I'm sure it will be a good game, doesn't appeal to me at the moment because it's disparate players put together into arbitrary teams.

Still, cool concept, and if they can give it better graphics and give it meaningful teams with different play styles, it will probably be a good multiplayer sports game.

Edit: Also needs a mode to recreate the greatest moments in football.

Double edit: More players in lesser known positions, even if they may suck. There are like 5 centers, 4 kickers, and the same goes for guards and safeties and various other positions. How can a game work with such a paltry depth chart?

Indeed, as long as the actual game is better than madden in all ways, this should sell. Especially if they can manage to sell at a cheaper pricepoint than madden ($39.99 anyone?)

They're legends if you watch a TON of football though (IE more than just your home town team) even though they might not be good players, hell, they might be downright BAD, you remember them because of a notable moment, or because of their name, or something, there's so many relative "C" listers on this list that just make me smile, because they weren't superstars.

So, does this game have a player and team editor, complete with a rainbow of colors, and a design maker? If it does, you could always just make whatever team you like that way.

Throughout the past 20 years, I've always wondered why people paid big bucks for professional sports licenses when they could just throw in a team editor and let the people do it themselves. Hardball was doing this decades ago, and with today's magical intertubes, fanatics could make real teams, players, and keep the rosters updated and offer the team saves online.

    Just a thought.

have you ever played an nfl 2k game? they kick madden's ass. nfl 2k5 actually outsold madden the year it came out, but they did have the price point helping them.

i'm not sure if it can be done it legal ways. but can you download 360 save file off the net and put it on ur 360, legally as in no modification to the 360? cuz if so then people will just make current nfl rosters and you can just dl them.

i'm totally looking forward to this game.

Not that it is a professional sport except in name, but Fire Pro Wrestling has been doing it for decades. You make the dude in everything but name, and then add in the option to tweak him. Worked fantastically.
