but then again I don’t get the appeal of Taylor Swift either
Here's my theory: what if someone was Queen of the teenage girls forever?
It is odd with Taylor, like it's not Madonna or Lauper or Cher even, Taylor could like sway elections if enough 18 year olds vote. She's almost a government body at this point. Fucking football merch sales skyrocketed simply because she's banging a super bowl winner.
edit: and I'm a Swiftie, she rocks, I just don't get the ridiculous level of which see rocks, which can alter the economy
Most of her stuff I am neutral on, but Shake it Off is catchy, but why did i think there was a Weird Al version of it? I cant find it all i found was some mashup.
I watch the shake it off music video at least 4-5 times a year when I need to calm down
edit: like it's my "in case of emergency, break glass" if I can't touch grass.

I posted a question to Chu and I am also putting it to you all: what is an appropriate, normal-person amount of sushi to have?
like, in a regular context, not you're at the fancy place, but you're getting like takeout sushi for lunch and it's probably rolls and basic stuff like that.
followup question: what is the like, obscene, gluttonous, turn-people's-stomachs amount of sushi to have
one roll isn't quite enough and two rolls is a bit too much

Hey [chat]. I got my router/broadband working again. Turns out I had not just one, or two, but three (!) different power adapters that were all fried. 🙄😬
WTF!? Anyhow this new one (12v 1 amp) is brand new out of the box. It's weird because it's connected to a quality surge protector.
No idea what is killing these adapters. 🔌⚡💡
we gotta place here called Sushi Train that's ayce and it's run on a little conveyor because it used to be an old 50s diner that had the little moving food line you could just pick stuff off of.
It's not great sushi but it's very easy to eat about 20 pieces of it and then realize you made a mistake.

I can handle about 6-7 standard size pieces, but have been known to devour an 8 piece dinner portion as well.
Anything more than that gets uncomfortable for me.
But these are also rather larger pieces. Dunno what size the sushi you are thinking of is

3 fried power adapters? Are you sure you don't have a power line conditioning problem?
Yeah I am definitely going to look into getting an electrician to check my wiring.🤷♀️

Normal amount: Either two rolls or one roll and one other item

I'll make an exception for conveyor belt places. Something about the novelty keeps me from going overboard.

I don't know what I could consider normal since folks are going to have different appetites and metabolisms.
When doing a take-out for dinner or lunch, I'm usually satisfied with 1-2 basic rolls (fish, rice, and nori) plus some side dish (edamame or sea-weed salad) and miso soup.

This seems to be the real answer, nebulous as it is
I very much do not get it. It’s also made more interesting to me by how she doesn’t seem to have any kind obvious hook? You look at most of the previous huge female acts of the last 40 years and she’s so bland in comparison. She doesn’t have a lock on any major paradigm shift in pop music the way that Bonnie Tyler or Lita Ford or Gwen Stefani did, she doesn’t have a particular persona or style like Madonna or Cyndi Lauper, and she certainly doesn’t have the kind of iconic instantly-recognizable voice like any of the women above.
It’s like the whole world has suddenly gone gaga over a B-tier talent with girl-next-door energy.
Well if kids shows have taught me anything, we need to something something magic of friendship and that'll clear the problem right up
It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing... And take away its pain.

I think she must be, with powers that only work with very soft straight women between 12-24 y/o.
She’s even remarkable in how unlike nearly every major female artist over the last 100 years, she has essentially no big queer following. Us queers loooove female pop artists.

Fact: I split 1 roll and 12 pieces of nigiri with my wife last night. But I also had a main dish and a soup. I probably could have done without the soup
This is good information to have. I can corner the niche market for gay swiftie clubs.

I happen to like Taylor's music but independent of that it's neat to see Dethklok's world-economy-altering thing come true, except it happened to a pop star and not a metal band
Either she's as mediocre as claimed and it's a social engineering coup or people just like her and pop stars in the age of phone-in- your-hand parasocial relationships are a powerful thing. *shrug*

Swift has good production, but does she have interesting production?
I can’t really understand why she’s been able to flourish and grow when she’s not demonstrably better (for whatever metric that is) than, say, Jessica Simpson or Katy Perry or Shakira, who we all recognize as talented but not top-tier.
Remember those comic book trading cards we had growing up that had those made-up power rankings so you could argue with your friends if US Agent could beat up Captain America? There would be six or seven categories with a 0-10 scale.
Swift in this analogy would be a solid 6 or 7 all the way across.

splitting 3 for two people seems like a good spot

Except Swift. Just nothing but ambivalence.
1 roll and about 12 pieces of nigiri
If you go to a queer dance club you’ll hear lots of Kim Petras, Nikki Minaj, Dua Lipa, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Gwen Stefani, Madonna, and the like.
Never once heard Swift at a gay club.
