I've started using this great piece of software (trial version with 60 days...Almost up), and I'd like to buy it when my time expires, however it does something INCREDIBLY annoying and essentially makes the damn thing unusable: Randomly the application decides to shorten and capitalize all of the files and folders name's in it's window panels.

Example: The folder "Mike Yonkers" becomes "MIKEYO~1". The file "01 Goodbye Sunball.mp3" becomes "01GOOD~1.MP3"

This is very confusing and frustrating, as I don't see ANY options to turn the feature on or off. The only way I've found to get around it is reinstall the app completely.

I can't buy this if it keeps shooting itself in the foot out of the blue.

It sounds like there should be a setting somewhere to make file names DOS compatible, which you want to turn off. DOS file names (iirc, it's been awhile) could only be 8 characters + 3 for the extension. ABCDEFGH.IJK, for example. ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOP.EXE becomes ABCDEF~1.EXE.

Wow, i've not used that since my Amiga days.

Ditto on what others said, there is bound to be some setting in it that changes that behaviour. I think i'll download it and give it a go myself... like I said, not used DOpus since my miggy days.
