Different this time though, still rewards you for doing certain dungeons/trials/raids but they've added weekly stuff for extra tomes.
Looks like multiple phases too.
I'm not sure what this "multiple phases" thing means? It seems like they're trying to make a wider variety of ways to earn the irregular tomestones, but does this mean the rewards are going to change/cycle, too?
I ask because there are only a couple of items I actually want to grind for on that list, and I'd prefer not to resub sooner than necessary.
There will be two mogtome events.
But the First one (this one) is running through March 11th?
Yes. I'm willing to bet the end will coincide with patch 6.58, which will set us into expac prep mode with the release of all weekly drop caps, and the doubling of the high tome weekly cap.

Yes. The 2nd will start sometime after, the rewards have already been datamined and they're only slightly better: https://ffxivcollect.com/tomestones/genesis ii
The new tomestone system and weekly objectives are great, there's just basically nothing I actually want lol
Cool, thanks for the info everybody. Once it actually drops and people start posting about how fast they are getting tombstones I guess I can better figure out when I am going to reup for the few things I do want from this first phase.
the stuff before that I thought could be kind of slow, but I did find all the drama in 2.55 pretty engaging myself
I mean, you've been a fan of Final Fantasy for forever. Would be weird if you were like "ehh, the combination of dramatic entrances, betrayals, political backstabbing and flashy sword fights is boring"
glad I saved the island sanctuary for the pre DT doldrums. I've got a lot to catch up on

As previously mentioned, I've been using the fashion report to generate large quantities of gil. As also mentioned, I am playing FF with some sprout real life friends.
Last night one of them posted in our play discord, "Trying to get fashion leader. The dungeon drop doesn't count. Checked market board. The shoes are kind of pricy, but I bought them anyways."
Check retainer this morning. Yep. Thank you for your contribution to the Shiawase market empire...
Talked some more with my partner and she told me she was blindsided by the lengthy cutscenes and was really hoping for another dungeon or raid as an exciting way to be a part of the story. Instead WoL is mostly just pinned to floor while other characters are busy.
She did point to some aspects of what happened that she appreciated and said she understood what Squeenix was trying to convey. The execution just did not land, but she is looking forward to 3.0 at least.
That's fair. A lot of shit happens where you'd think the player character would get to perhaps object and fight some goons about it.
the WoL is dumb as a brick and doesn't really start getting to the point where they're like "hang on a fuckin second" until after Heavensward really gets going.
I really appreciated, after the events of the Falcon's Rest fresco party, that the next time (lots of post-Heavensward spoilers here)
somebody poured the WoL a drink, he gave them the most intense side-eye in videogame history...
I'm trying to remember, and I don't think the WoL ever drank from a glass someone else poured until Venat makes you tea halfway through endwalker.
Edit: chatting with Bel and there are one or two, including a notable party in the Crystarium, but it's always either with the Scions in private, or with close allies. None of those moments where it's the WoL at a public function include them drinking anything.....
That is definitely the face of someone I trust not to try to wear my skin as a cloak
A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.
wow it had been a long time since i posted. this has been my main game for so long now. I got deep into the venue scene and forgot to come up for air. (is this air?)

Anecdotally, but the sprout reaction to Ishgard I've seen is universally "wow, fuck these guys." Doing a lot of "no, no, it'll get better eventually" to help them power through.
Yeah, the nobles of Ishgard are pretty terrible. The common folk are only rude to you because they think you are a crony for one of the Noble families. Once you meet Hilda they start to warm up to you.
If original Ala Mhigo was still around they'd probably give Ishgard a run for its money. Whole lot of murderous insane king nonsense going on over there.

I attended my first party at one of those homes, and it was a surprisingly cozy experience, complete with a bartender, drink menu, live DJ(s!), and an extremely polite hostess.
the only nominally "good guy" nation state worse than Ishgard is fucking Gridania
on that note we should kill all the Elementals
Sorry but we tamed the Elementals during EW role quests, they're good boys now.
I don't remember this
If you mean the role quest in gridania, lol no we just temporarily assuaged the tantruming child, just like in the conjurer and white mage job quests
EW alliance raid stuff
nophica literally tells us the elementals are good, actually, and I was like "ah, the writers do not understand what they've written, got it"
Limsa is definitely the city state the writing does the best job of grappling with its baggage I think.
there's this one fucking guy on the FFXIV reddit who barges in every time anyone mentions either Gridania or Limsa to say that Gridania Did Nothing Wrong, The Greenwrath Is Scary So It's Reasonable To Obey the Elementals Without Question, Duskwrights and Mooncats and the Ixal Brought This On Themselves, but Meanwhile Limsa Is Evil For All That Colonialism
When I pointed out that Limsa has taken definitive steps toward reparations and reconciliation, he then screeched that this was PROOF that Limsa was just a bunch of evil colonialist pirates!!! Needing to make reparations is PROOF they're MORE EVIL than Gridania! Gridania not taking steps to do anything is PROOF that they didn't do anything wrong!
and I'm like "wow I didn't know that the PR department of the Conjurer's Guild has access to Reddit all the way from Eorzea "
I'd buy the argument that Gridania's leadership is essentially held hostage by the elementals, but that... would lead me to the conclusion that Gridania's gods need slayin'. Which does not seem to be the direction Reddit guy is going in

yeah if you mention killing them he doubles down on tHE GREENWRATH IS SCARY AND EVEN THE WoL COULDN'T SURVIIIIVE
(nevermind that canonically the Elementals haven't been able to do the Greenwrath since the Calamity...)
along with ALSO THE ELEMENTALS ARE INNOCENT AND DID NOTHING WROOONG and THE SHROUD CAN'T SURVIVE WITHOUT THEM YOU'D KILL THE WHOLE FOREST
the ONLY one of those arguments I could see holding water is that killing them might seriously damage or even kill the Shroud, but considering that plenty of other forests exist just fine... look. We've killed other gods for less.
*edit* Regarding the elementals being "innocent" -- look. Mosquitoes are an essential part of any ecosystem and technically did nothing wrong. They also cause more human deaths than just about any other animal (via disease). While modern mosquito control programs try to focus on only eliminating disease-carrying species, this still comes down to a matter of survival.
My own personal take/opinion? Observation? Is that in truth the Elementals aren't racist and can't even fucking tell what "race" anybody is, and while the Greenwrath used to happen and was certainly scary, it was both completely random in who it actually affected (reading up about 1.0 quests, apparently Garleans, Ala Mhigans, and Ixali invaded just fine, but a freaking dragon of all things got turned to amber).
I think the elementals do blindly lash out at people who do stupid ecologically imbalancing shit, but I think, again, they do it nearly blindly, and that all the racism and xenophobia is on the other citizens of Gridania. Hell, while the Seedseers supposedly interpret the will of the Elementals, they don't actually seem to have much power, and it seems to me that once their interpretations are handed down, then everyone else is a xenophobic racist twit about it.
What that means, though, is that Mr Reddit Moron's argument is entirely invalid and that Gridania is a bunch of racist xenophobic shitheads, they just use their weird killer mosquito ghosts as an excuse.

Yeah, it tracks that the edgelord mains RPR.
I dunno guys, I always liked this part of the story, melodrama and all.

I do like that starting in ShB and EW the WoL does indeed start to go "hey wait a minute. Fuck you." And when they don't/can't, Estinien does it.
