CS:S...Proving Legit Status/Moving Up

I've been playing CS for nearly 10 years now. Since beta 5.2....I'm basically a big deal.

Im in a cal-o clan (for friends), and been nearly entirely in cal-o. Ive been in cal-m for a season and a half before going innactive.

But seeing how im in a cal-o clan, with cal-o newblet teamates, i often get screamed at "hacker!" and almost every scrim is incomplete due to this fact. I get very frustrated at getting a scrim that has a higher skill than cal-o, because my teamates cannot keep up and therefore we lose.

Back in cal-m, we scrimmed several pro teams (Hyper, PG, Verge) and they all said i cheated....

so what i decided to do was make a youtube video of my CS playing...there are a few problems.

1. I dont know how to get .dem files to .avi or any other movie file format. Anyone know how?
2. Even with demos, people know that it wont prove anything. Demos dont record wallhacks....

Will this even work? So like next time someone calls me a hacker i just do "http://www.youtube.com/mymovie" and enough is enough?

Also, you may say "just join a new team that is higher up"....im often inconsistant, which doesnt help my case any. I can have shitty days, but im roughly 75% cal-i/cevo-p. This causes a lot of pressure when trying out for a higher team. Also, i tried to do huge LANs to get my name out there, but i cant get away from work or im basically fired =/. I'm pretty damn well-known online though...

This may be a very obscure thread and a "WTF?" from many of you guys, but this IS a gaming community and it IS a H/A area....

The league i played in for a season (i've never been good at cs, just did it for a laugh) the head league admin use to have a computer he loaded up with hacks and cheats. Anyone accused of stuff like wallhacking he would load the demo on his hacks computer with wallhacks turned on, and it was pretty damn obvious when people were actually wallhacking.

Other kinds of hacks, like aimbots, are pretty trivial to spot just through a demo. Or by telling people to spectate you (which a lot of wanna-be gamecops will do anyway) assuming thats still possible (i only played under half-life, never played CS:S)

If you're really well known though, i dont really see why people would continue to call you a cheat. Surely they'd know what you're capable of by now? But if you get into a bigger name clan, the clan tag alone will often be enough to stop people accusing you of cheats. But even the biggest name, most awesome players still get accused of cheating sometimes, so theres not much you can do.

To make an .AVI, you need a TV tuner card, or a software recording program. Fraps is the most popular option, and has a free trial (though recordings are limited in resolution, duration is capped at 30 seconds, and it stamps a Fraps.com watermark at the top). I've used it quite a bit, and though I can't compare it to anything else, it's does its job well.

Windows XP has a built-in movie editor (Windows Movie Maker). You can simply load that up, import your .AVI, drag the image onto that timeline at the bottom, and choose "Save to my computer" from the options on the left. It'll then give you an assortment of options for resolution and size. You'll want to pick a resolution large enough to actually se what's going on, but a size small enough to upload and send it places. Might take a bit of trial-and-error.

How about using a video camera and taping yourself from over the shoulder? That way they can see the game, and your mouse and keyboard. Wall hacks, scanners, etc would be visible if you were cheating, since the camera sees what you see.

If you're serious about competing professionally, it sounds like you should worry less about proving yourself to your less-experienced peers and find an experienced clan to compete with. I don't imagine it's fun to play with no challenge, anyway. I know it's not what you wanted to hear, but it makes more sense than trying to prove your honor to a group of people who are below your skill.

Wouldn't FRAPS be a good application to use for this?

I believe they have a demo version that puts a disclaimer on all videos you record, but that might be something you can use.

Sorry for lack of replies, lots of stuff happened IRL.

I heard that there is a .dem to avi conversion system...nothing to do with hardware. I used FRAPS before for making WoW videos, but my HDD crashed and i lost my cracked version of FRAPS. i refuse to buy it or use the evaluation method. On top of that, FRAPS records at a lower FPS than a .dem and usually slows the gameplay down significantly.

about the video camera...ive thought about that several times, but i dont know anyone who has one. maybe a webcam? Not sure, havent really thought about how to DO it, just wanted to, heh.

As for ditching my clan....yeah, i know. that sounds like the most logical option, but im more of a "i play for friends" guy. it would be cool if my friends were as good as me so i wouldnt have to train them everyday. Im trying to move them up to the same level im at so i can get my name across.

also, we have our CAL match on wednesday against an old cal-i reform team....one of which is Dirty Secret. hopefully if i do good there, he can put in a good word for me somewhere.

If people in CAL-O are calling you a hacker, big flippin deal, if you are truly cal-i material then you should have the mentality that it doesn't matter what crappy players think.

As far as getting noticed by a bigger team in CAL-M or by someone on a CAL-I team, scrim constantly, against better teams. Never waste time scrimming CAL-O. Even if someone in a higher league thinks you are hacking big deal. Setup scrims when with your team to scrim IM and M teams.

Save your demos, find a converter if need be. But otherwise, someone calling you a hacker means nothing if its not in a league match.

As far as for your schedule, IMO, you'll be hard pressed to find a group of CAL-I players that are devoting less time to CS:S than you. And likeswise they'd be expecting all members to devote enormous amounts of time playing, and LANing around the country for events if they are dedicated enough.

Since you have a job and stuff to worry about, I'd focus on either getting your CAL-O team to CAL-IM, then CAL-M. If they simply like the natural skill to be cal-m players, seek out a cal-m team.

Well i dont want to be banned because of some newb cal-o members who think i hack dispute me in a match.

Dirty Secret got banned in CAL-I for getting a headshot thru a smoke with the awp. I do that ALL THE TIME, and this was in a cal-i match against mug n mouse. If i pull off a shot like that in cal-o, and they dispute me, i mean cmon, my chances of being banned are high. This is why im concerned.

A cal-i player being in cal-o is just asking to be disputed, so i have to make sure that im clean. I am. But being clean isnt sufficient for CAL admins. they need proof, and the only proof i can give isnt 100 percent solid.

If i get banned in cal, my name is ruined. Im afraid of having that on my record.
