It’s probably the best option for the team but I hate it. Players should stay on the same team more often.
It feels like teams are getting a bit too cheap with running backs. The Giants could have gone $13 million with health incentives over 3 years, and it wouldn't have impacted much. In fact, it would have been a big win since with the massive cap spike, most deals done in the last year or 2 are discounts.
It sucks. I no long find myself able to root for players on my team because there’s a very good chance they won’t be on the team in a few years.
Conversely, I find myself rooting for players over teams when I watch the NFL
i mostly root against teams at this point
The one team I root for is the eagles because I just like philly and I like saying "go birds"

I don't have a real team anymore (The Bears are such a complete joke at this point. They're awful, but not scrappy or fun in anyway) so now I generally root for 'a good game's or the underdog.
Also, against KC.

Gotta love fake NFL guarantees. He's only getting $40 million at signing ($30 in $24 and $10 in "25, all salary) and the other $10 doesn't lock in until start of the '25 league year

It’s an incredibly low risk proposition for the Steelers though - a one year deal and the broncos are paying his salary essentially. If it doesn’t work out then next year they just part ways.
Still feels odd, I'm not sure at this point how much of an upgrade he is over what they have. Maybe Kirk's camp was sending signals that he didn't want to play there? But I would have rather gone with Brisset over Wilson (assuming they didn't want to spend draft capital on Fields).

I'm not generally willing to believe coaches complaining about players, especially Sean fucking Payton. I'm willing to bet Wilson is exponentially less problematic than they'd have you believe.

Bears announce new domed stadium near Soldier Field site, to use $2 billion of private money for stadium and public (hostage) for the surrounding development.

Kirk is going to cost thirty or forty times what they’re paying Wilson. The Steelers are paying vet minimum for him since the broncos are on the hook. Even Brissett can demand more than 1.2 million.
This deal allows them a lot more wiggle room to improve their team in other ways during free agency this year and they can figure out something more long term next year.

I think this is about the best type of deal (obviously the details are key)
The Bears plus investors build the stadium, plus tear down Soldier Field* and return that site to the city
The city gets 20% more land in the park/museum complex and gets to use the new stadium year-round since it would be a dome- the city basically determines what the investment amount and use would be for
The only thing the city is really doing here is allowing the Bears to swap sites within the current park complex, and at a minimum they get a dome out of it?

I just don’t want Barkley on a team I hate. For some reason I can handle him in Philly but I still prefer that not be his destination
Saquon to the eagles is official. 3 year 37.75m 26 guaranteed, 9m in incentives.
Feelin bummed as a Texans fan since so much buzz happened before free agency about him coming here potentially, unless we’re going for Jacobs or Henry I guess.
Texans you have over 60 mil of cap space left sign fucking anybody of note please I beg you.

Jacobs is now a Packer. Curious what the Texan's are doing, so far they've let most of their FA's go.
Thats where we needed to be spending so I can’t be too mad about Saquon.
I was today old when I learned that improbably there was an offensive lineman named Jon Runyan currently playing in the NFL, I'm only familiar with the former player and my brain had some serious wobbles when I first saw Raijin's post.

Here’s Cousins new deal with Atlanta:
4Y/$180M ($45M APY)
2024/2025 FG ($90M)
2026 Injury Guarantee that Converts ($10M)
$50M to sign
Late 30s with a newly repaired tendon is where you back up the dump truck full of money, sure.
The APY makes sense, Baker just got essentially a 1 yr $40 million and Kirk was going to get more, but a second year fully guaranteed with the signing bonus and zero data on how QBs come back from an achilles is crazy seeming. You make it through this 2 year experiment, finally realize he's old and busted, and you're still stuck with $25 million in dead cap if you move on
saquon feels like an overpay when the eagles have so many issues with players retiring, but... idk if the coaching doesn't figure itself out it doesn't matter who's on this team

Kirk is the Goat of being the QB in the right place at the right time to cash in.
The man will clear 400+ mil pre-tax before his career is over and it's extremely probable he'll still only have the one playoff win.
NFL GMs hurl their wallets on command when Kirk's reps walk into the negotiating room and outside of federal-level blackmail or legit metal powers I got nothing that explains it.

Trying to get the city of Chicago or the state of Illinois to put money towards this project definitely feels like an uphill battle. The governor already told the White Sox to fuck off

According to Pro Football Focus, McKinney didn't allow a single touchdown when in coverage last season with the New York Giants. In fact, he holds the highest coverage grade while playing free safety since entering the league.

3 years 100 mil, 50 guaranteed, 5 mil in incentives each year so max value of 115.
A former friend of mine from Colorado must be extremely frustrated with the broncos.
If half of what has been written about Russ and the support structure he needs to succeed is true I cannot imagine him succeeding in Pittsburgh.

But the eagles really need to get some shit sorted in the coaching staff
Maybe having another player who can run the ball will help

Damn. I didn’t realize McKinney was THAT good.
Someone cue yakity sax for the Panthers front office. Turned down 2 first round picks, now have to take a 2nd and 5th.
