I have decided to solve my sleep schedule and time difference issues the most logical way I know how.

And that is why I did not sleep at all last night. So of course I get into work and power is completely out, with all the UPSs beeping

Specifically, a single Senator said they weren't paying attention and would have objected to unanimous consent if they had, so therefore the House did them a favor by not taking it up at all.

Oh my...I'm onsite for the first time in months, forgot how much I hated taking Bart, drank waaaaaaaay too much coffee, and am now siting in a conference room that's simultaneously too quiet and horribly loud (some fan in the ceiling). Also nobody else is here.

I can't imagine I'll get anything productive done, but at least I only have to do this a few times a year when my boss is in town.

The problem there is less the amount of energy released and more the speed at which it happens; it's not like 5 lbs of flour is releasing more energy than 100 lbs of wood on a bonfire, it's just doing it in half a second instead of a few hours.

Just about anything when aerosolized, in the presence of oxygen and spark, will ignite.

Day whatever of simple use of the new data capturing system bringing up new and previously unknown data safety issues.

"Are you saying you want the program to do this?"
"I'm saying your program already does this, which is the problem."
"I've never heard of this issue before."

I'm starting to wonder if all the people we've talked to that have used this system are simply paid actors. I'm not doing hardcore system testing here, someone else must have run into these issues before.

Even more accurately, they tried locking in daylight savings. If we just left it at standard time it would have been fine.

    Edit:

The other thing that story reminds me of is everyone's complaints about it being too dark in the morning. Here on the eastern side of the eastern time zone, the sun rises at 4a.m. in the summer! If we were in standard time this means the sun would rise at 3!

The problem is that new England is in the eastern time zone. It should not be sharing the same time zone as Indianapolis! I'm guessing it all goes back to the railroad era where everyone wanted to be in the same time zone as New York.

So if I had any authority (which I don't), I would split everything east of the Connecticut River into the Atlantic time zone and then lock it in at Standard Time only.

Today I represented my school at a department meeting, held at the district headquarters.

At one point, the district staff who continue to record education podcasts, and who continue to notify us about every single one via email, asked me directly if I had listened to the podcast.

"Nope! I'm up to my gills with podcasts from my grad school professors! I'm drowning in educational podcasts!!"

I find the worker solidarity in Hollywood to be fascinating. everyone agrees that they aren't being paid what they are worth for these really really big popular well made productions that will make mondesi money, and everyone agrees that they're taking something home.

I am SO paying for the consequences of my actions today.

I always get fucked up by Daylight Saving. Monday I can survive. Tuesday knocks me flat on my ass.

Yesterday, I had a practice for a play I've agreed to help with. This ate my entire afternoon, and I got home at 9 (after grabbing a late dinner). I then.. decided.. very poorly... to do "one more" Vampire Survivors run.

So I didn't even begin to get to bed until 1AM. I know I didn't begin to fall asleep until closer to 2, and near 1:45 I got fed up and took a melatonin pill. I set my alarm to get up later than usual... and even then I probably only got 5 hours of sleep.

I probably should've called in a mental health day, but I do have Friday off already.

Rewrote my resume and sent a bunch of applications out yesterday and today. I have like 100 out now at this point I think.

Have an interview at the local college next week though, so there's something.
