We went to it! It was amazing!

I have some friends who went to it, and apparently it was a lot that they weren't ready for

It was probably the Snoke dick.

I just spent the last two hours working with a colleague in the IP department. Neither one of us has any familiarity with SNMP. SNMP is a protocol for handling network management and is how our IP monitoring software communicates with the devices on our network. We lost service to a community for a few days until digging into error logs revealed that a switch had basically shit the bed. We were trying to figure out why there was no alert in the monitoring software.

I learned alot about SNMP today, and my colleague learned a lot about configuring network switches. We still don't know how to get this specific event monitored, but we did determine it's possible and we need to do some custom programming on both the switch and the monitoring tool. Hoo boy. Don't think that's going to happen soon. We CANNOT do this sort of experimentation on live equipment and there isn't a test platform for the monitoring software because, I bet, no one thought it would be necessary.

Nova_C I work with SNMP sometimes. Let me know if you have questions. Also, a network switch should also support syslog if you find that easier.

And some unsolicited advice: always use SNMPv3. Never v1/v2.

    We're using v2. Not my call. :/

And I might have questions for you when I'm back to work after Easter! Thanks!

    Lol

Okay well V2 effectively has no security or privacy so have fun with that.

My network switch fun this week is trying to automate config back ups on a Brocade and the dell guy being like, well you can buy our stuff.

Or they technically have a REST api call that can do that.

So I guess I'm learning REST api calls.
    Downloaded Postman and everything.

His shiny metal boots must come from his time in the Thieves Guild. Metal boots are good for sneaking into places.

Most of them are just unitards with belts. I can get you a unitard with a belt by three pm. With pouches.

Storm is wearing an evening gown from the costumes department of Dynasty.

    Beast is wearing bike shorts

Jubilee is just wearing her clothes

Gambit looks like he raided a Home Depot, a Dick’s Sporting Goods, a Joann Fabrics, an Army Navy store, and the clearance rack at Nordstrom

And wherever you buy a headsock from

I'm a big fan of street clothes or at least street clothing based outfits for heroes. The closest I've come to an actual costume for a character in CoH was a tuxedo and top hat.

So much of Gambit’s outfit is 110% rule-of-cool nonsense

He’s a bomb-throwing guy from the sweatiest place in America, why is he wearing a huge encumbering trenchcoat? Why does he carry a huge metal staff? What’s with the shin guards? Why the headsock? What is going on with his …I’m gonna say…top armor? It’s not a shirt, but it’s not really anything you’ve ever seen before.

And he wears gloves! A guy that needs ultra-fine motor skills for the card-throwing! The gloves do nothing!

    He looks cool af tho

    Oh for sure

Costumes are a relic of a very silly past. One of the reasons Nightwing looks like a dork all the time.

I dig the athleisure look for heroes unless there’s a reason to do otherwise

The Batgirl costume which was clearly using practical articles like a leather jacket rather than spandex was pretty great.
