That's still more than Mercedes in AEW.

AEW probably: Hey remember last year how everybody was hype for All In but then having All Out 1 week after it felt a bit close, like the stories barely had time to breathe?

I don't know what it's like for someone in attendance at All In, but watching it at home I think they have such a harder time getting the sound of the energy of the crowd versus their normal indoor arena shows where the crowd reacting comes across a lot more.

The visuals of running a show in an enormous venue is fun, but it seems like AEW's strength production-wise is what they do every single week. They don't have the money to compete with WWE on giant entrance setpieces so the stadium looks huge but the production gets dwarfed.

    I don't think it's a matter of money.

Maybe not, but I recall their entrance setup last year leaning more towards minimal in comparison to a giant ramp that WWE sets up for a WrestleMania.

Which, again, is only something that struck me watching the event at home. I've never been to an event for either company, let alone their largest PPVs. But I thought they had a better production grasp on All Out vs All In last year. Except for the fireworks display, those were endlessly fun to watch.

Honestly it seems like WWE is scaling down the size of their obnoxiously large and distracting stadium wall of LEDs for entrances.

Just from a purely aesthetic point of view it's kind of bad. Like the wrestler and then maybe the brand in general are supposed to be what's focused on during entrances. It would be like creating a portfolio website with a background the flashes random colors.

...and flashing random colors is about as good as entrance videos have been for the past decade. It's weird that the bigger the screens got the worse the entrance video became to the point where a lot of NXT's were just [WRESTLER NAME] written over about five seconds of looping stock footage.

Atsushi Onita visited Terry Funk's grave in Amarillo, Texas, on the 10th local time. On April 5th local time (6th Japan time), Atsushi Onita was invited as a Japanese Deathmatch Legend'' to theBattleground Championship Wrestling'' deathmatch festival held at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, USA. .

The venue, 2300 Arena, was the former ECW Arena. ECW is a deathmatch organization that was founded after Sabu brought back to America a video tape from Onita's FMW days, and Jado'' went wild with loud cheers that felt likehome.''

And then, five days later, I headed to the grave of that "big brother".

On the 10th, Terry Funk (passed away in 2023, aged 79) rests in a tranquil grave in Amarillo, Texas, the United States, which Onita visited. 50 years have passed since his debut as a wrestler at the age of 16. If you think about it, Onita has spent half a century following the life of Terry, who discovered his talent during his All Japan Pro Wrestling days.

Orthodox professional wrestling inherited from Giant Baba, with a profile as a deathmatch fighter. Furthermore, his repeated retirement and comebacks have many similarities with Terry.

On that day, Onita sat in front of his benefactor's grave, where many flowers were laid out. He stroked the gravestone and said, It's been a long time, Mr. Terry. I'm sorry for being late in visiting your grave,'' and then said,(May 1993) After the confrontation at Kawasaki Stadium on the 5th, I will never forget him telling me, ``Oonita was so strong. I thought he was your cute younger brother, but he turned out to be a great wrestler.'' ” she said while holding back tears.

"This year marks the 50th anniversary of my debut. I'm planning on doing electric bombing as far as I can go. However, I really wanted to stand in the ring with Mr. Terry at the commemorative tournament. 'Spinning Toe Hold' I wanted to see Terry enter the venue again as the sound rang through the venue...'' he said in a trembling voice.

And, like his mentor, Terry, behind his bold statement about his own way of life, ``I think I'm outstanding,'' there was an experience that served as the starting point.

This was the founding period of FMW, when it was still unknown whether it belonged to the sea or the mountains. An old woman I met at a local convention asked me this question.

"What do you say your name is? I only know (Giant) Baba-san and (Antonio) Inoki-san."

"After my grandma saw my match, she said to me, ``You're working hard. I'm going to support you from now on. I even learned your name.'' "That was the origin of my desire to make my name widely known to the general public," he recalls.

When I was in FMW, I had a sense of crisis that if I didn't become famous, I wouldn't get customers.I was driven by the idea that I had to sell my name, so I appeared in a TV drama, and everything is a challenge. That's why, over the course of 50 years, I continued to play every game, even when I nearly died from sepsis.'' He continued,There were times when I felt depressed, times when I felt like my heart would break, and times when I wanted to give up.'' And a little bit.

``However, for a moment, the word regret may pass by, but it never accumulates. If you give up and are crawling at the bottom, before you know it, another chance will come your way. That's me. It might have been the life of a man."

With that, he grinned and said, There are still so many things I want to do.I think it's best to live.I want to leave the existence ofAtsushi Onita'' in history in any form. What kind of famous person? But if I die, I'll be forgotten.I have a fear of being forgotten, so as long as I'm alive, I think I have no choice but to live as Atsushi Onita'' and continue doing Atsushi Onita.''

``Sometimes I think people like me would be better off just dead, but I still enjoy being in the ring.I don't have the word for satisfaction. What I think is interesting. I want to do everything as long as I can," the 66-year-old said with a smile. "In any case, I just want to leave behind proof that a person named Atsushi Onita was alive.I don't know how long I can live from now on. But," he said, his eyes shining.

On April 14th, the 50th anniversary of his debut as a wrestler, Memorial Day, the main event of the FMWE "11th Spring Tournament ~REBORN~" will be held at the Tsurumi Fruits and Vegetables Market in Yokohama. Army” to the ring.

A memorial match against Shuji Ishikawa, Tatsu Yoshi, and Black Mensore from "Hagure All Japan", all of whom have left All Japan Pro Wrestling. "We'll do everything we can to celebrate the April 14th anniversary of Atsushi Onita's debut." A hellish death match. 7”. This will be a battle that will feature all of the "electrical blast" items that he has devised up until now.

50 years ago, on April 14, 1974, exactly 50 years have passed since his debut against Akio Sato at the All Japan Pro Wrestling Korakuen Hall tournament. It will be a very dangerous battle that will put your life on the line.

It's been 50 years of ups and downs, but I've lived my life to the fullest in my own way for the past half century. They say it's the end of the 50th anniversary, but to be honest, I don't care about that.Today's match was great.'' Even though I thought, "What should I do next?", I think it's the same with the 50th anniversary memorial match. I think my life is a repetition of that."

With that said, the tearful charisma'' heads to the ring on a memorable day. The legend celebrates its 50th anniversary on this day, but in August, the 50th anniversary will be held at Kawasaki Stadium (currently Fujitsu Stadium Kawasaki), the sacred place'' that attracted 58,000 people during the FMW era, when people said, ``That's the only place you can go.'' We are planning an anniversary memorial match.

Even though he has reached his 50th anniversary as a wrestler, Atsushi Onita's life is far from over. This moment is the time for a new beginning. Since the memorable April 14th, ``Charisma of Tears'' has continued to walk a lonely path that no one can imitate, step by step.
