I think the rationale is that it better hides Dillon brooks' violence
If he makes someone bleed, the refs might not catch it

If the refs dont want that kind of foul to be flagrant, there should be a carve out for take fouls or something on these blatant non basketball plays.

Yeah their 23rd shot clock violation would have been better than putting it up with 10 sec left. GSW plays like a bunch of rookies

That's the biggest choke job I've seen in a long time. Draymond's fastball way past the intended man, GP2 rolling the ball to a teammate surrounded by defenders instead of calling timeout when he had a clean possession, Curry putting up a completely unnecessary dagger attempt to leave as much as 10 on the clock were Houston to rebound and call a timeout.

Just a comedy of errors by the Warriors.

and they don't seem to learn...and Kerr keeps putting out bizarre line ups. The team's complete inability to finish games is staggering.

The turnovers are killing them for the whole game not just at the end. They are so careless with the ball.

I haven't seen these games (stupid time zones and living on the other side of the planet from the NBA), but judging by the comments here, I think this NBA Cup is a success. These cups have been tradition in European Football for decades, although there they are wholly separate from the regular league games. Here I think these games being part of the normal league schedule does exactly what was intended - hype up some early season games and suddenly some otherwise random games on Tuesday night in December have some meaning to them.

Yeah anyone who is telling you they can't see the higher level of play in cup games vs. random regular season game is lying at this point.

It's not the playoffs, but it's a neat and cool thing to do in November/December.

I would not call this Rockets-Warriors game high-level play at all. The halftime score was 37-44, both teams shot terribly except for Sengun, and Golden State had 22 turnovers including 7 shot clock violations. The ending of the game was entertaining, but in more of a slapstick comedy kind of way than compelling competition.

But I didn't get to watch the other games. I had evening stuff going on and didn't get home till like 10pm last night.

"Higher level of play" from an intensity standpoint doesn't translate to "more efficient and beautiful offense" though.

Houston's defense is legit, and they made a concerted effort to slop the game up. They have agency too -- it wasn't just "Warriors played sloppy". The high level of defensive intensity lead to the game being sloppy and ugly (with a dash of Curry being obsessed with showboating and trying to hit a dagger 3 instead of letting the shot clock run down, but he did the same thing with his silly behind the back showboating pass to lose the Finals to the Cavs).

Playoff offenses are typically less "beautiful" than regular season offenses. Windows get tighter, shots get harder, players are less worried about conserving energy on defense. So yeah, last night's game was absolutely played at a higher level of play than your average regular season game when you factor in defensive and offensive intensity.

Yeah, when I say "those November/December games have more meaning to them" doesn't necessarily mean higher level of play - just from an intensity standpoint and spectator interest these are a nice addition. Now suddenly even in those games there is something at stake.

You'll never recreate the national cups of European Football, just because relegation and advancement doesn't exist in American Sports. There is something special, when a lower tier team knocks out a higher tier team or even advances far in the cup. But for what they are trying to do with the In-Season Cup in the NBA, it works quite well in its second season.

And yet, Draymond and Dillion didn't dance to cancel each other out?

Didn't see the game, what a waste of a Rockets Dubs game.

Look at Butters over there, bragging about having a thing to do in the real world and not just sitting on the couch watching basketball for 6 hours. Could i ever claim such? Of course not. Am i impressed? Absolutely? Did he betray the NBA and this thread, undoubtedly.

The puppy needs training. How am I supposed to get him to wear a doggie Cavs jersey when this is how he responds to the frog hoodie my wife bought for him?
