I finished reading Dandadan manga volumes that I have bought so far, by which I mean first seven.
I still like this series a lot and can admit that all the hype that was created for it by readers in last few years was fully justified!
Outside of hilarious comedy, great artstyle and cool action setpieces, I think that what I am enjoying the most about Dandadan is the fact that is is a proper, character driven story. All the supernatural drama and chaotic fighting serve as a proper tools for developing characters and building a base for them interacting with each other, making it an absolute opposite of a JJK philosophy, where fights were always the most important, and characters were tools used for showing them.
It definitely helps that, so far, no character is leaving the reader indifferent, everyone is full of personality - protagonists are bery easy to like, and antagonists are properly hateable. Even tertiary mob characters, like Momo's best friends, are memorable! Characters experience weird shit, talk about it with each other, and their relationships slowly evolve, this is everything that I expect from the well written story.
The only elephant in the room is
attempted sexual assault scenes, which happen twice in seven volumes. It is a shame that this manga opens this way, as I cannot say that it was in any way necessary.
All in all, Dandadan has a potential to become one of the best mangas that started in last few years, and I hope that the author will not run out of steam later, as it very often happens.
I've been watching World Trigger on Netflix lately.
The animation in the first season was really limited. Battles were usually pretty okay, but most other scenes had extremely limited movements and camera angles and stuff.
Within the first 15 seconds of the second season the jump in quality was noticeable.
Wonder if the fact that the first season was 73 episodes and the second like 13 was part of it...
Also in the second season they're allowed to light and smoke their cigarettes now.

I think Re:Zero is going on the back burner for a week or so. I don't have the emotional bandwidth to feel feelings or think thoughts right now.
I'm still not mentally ready and I'm two seasons behind
The end of last season leaves you:
in a reasonably satisfying place, though with the story not over by any means.

Season 2 doesn't quite hit the lowest lows of Season 1, and it is fairly hype.
This week re zero had a small curveball in that
Oh turns out it wasn't a case of total failure. Now Subaru has a dragon blood leg that can regenerate, one of the towers probably got retaken by the good guys.
I'm also have a REALLY hard time keeping all the names straight at this point. Regulus has a ton of wives, many dead. So I am fully onboard with it being an aspect of his witch authority to burn through them like fuel. I know he's been around for nearly 200 years but that is a fucking lot of dead wives. Emelia is not being a damsel and is being smart and proactive, realizing she's in enemy territory and cannot just fight Regulus straight up.
Red princess candidate is also way WAY deeper of a character than could have been imagined in S1.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Oshi no Ko is ending next week, penultimate chapter landed today
And let's just say it's shaping up to be the second biggest crashout to happen this November, good god this shit blows
as someone who was like zero percent interested in ever watching/reading it, if anyone feels like giving me full series spoilers I'll bring the popcorn bucket

Does re:zero get better? I've watched a few episodes and the last one I watched dude bro was being a butler at the magical girl's house and I was just like where the fuck is this story even trying to go? Like God just give me another season of frieren if I gotta deal with some slow burn stuff.
Also Wistoria is very weird in a way I can't quite put my finger on.

Re:Zero never stops getting better. It's probably the best isekai, and also just incredible writing independent of being a fantasy series.
It's extremely heavy content, but the various arc payoffs are always earned.
Re:Zero is the only good, serious isekai because it's the only one where it feels like, despite all the fantasy anime tropes, the world it takes place in existed before the protagonist arrived. It's got its own believable history that's not just DND/JRPG pastiche, as do its inhabitants.
Re:Zero also justifies it being an isekai fairly regularly but especially with that one season 2 episode. Absolutely fantastic episode. Not a lot of shows explore the emotional impact of suddenly getting transported to a different world but Re:Zero did so beautifully.

I bounced off it as well, hanging in there until around episode 15 I want to say, but it was only emphasizing the things I really disliked more and more instead of going in the direction I hoped.
Re: Wistoria, do you mean the production? The writing is absolutely nonsensical, but there's some interesting things in its production that are rare to see in anime. Like it loves the fuck out of impact frames that are pretty rare in anime.

Random Dandadan manga question
Which scenario would you prefer - Okarun's parents ending up being completely normal, completely absent like Deku's dad, or something ending up Weird?
Fake Edit: anime/manga mapping up to episode 12:
So next ep 7 is chapter 17 and 18 (I really hope they nail the vibe of this, this elevates the series for me), and the food epilogue could be the tail end, or start of episode 8. Not sure which one is the better ending for the episode.
Episode 8 is the push down and misunderstanding and should end with the appearance of the enemies.
Should Aira's power up form appear here, or episode 9? Episode 9 takes care of Shrimpy but introduces his Dover Demon form
Episode 10 is the fusion and the final hit against the Shrimpnesserpo fusion
Episode 11 is the naked aftermath and food epilogue and cow abduction scene
Which would make Jiji appear on episode 12, but that's it.
That there's no appearance of the anatomy model ghosts in any promo material means they're not in the season, I think. So they might not even start to leave for Jiji's house
Is there any sort of anime about the parents of a Shonen protagonist or magical girl? Like the kid pops up every once in awhile but it's mostly just parents dealing with their kid being a Kung fu ghost or eldritch princess.

Woah, the two are in? Nice. I checked some trailers and couldn't see them, and they aren't portrayed in the OP or ED.
Kind of a weak episode to finish on if this is 12 or 13 though
I highly recommend but also, it makes me cry everytiem
But like, so cathartic after.
It was a great movie and quite moving at times, but it didn't hit me as hard as, say, The Wild Robot or Inside Out 2.
I'm not sure how I feel about the second half of the movie, first with Kyomoto's death and then suddenly exploring an alternate possible timeline where she's saved if they didn't become friends as children. I recognize that it was based on a historical event, though. I was just more invested in them growing as artists together more.
You know what? Nanowrimo's cancelled on account of the world is stupid.
New Ranma episode is good and funny. Kodachi is my least favourite of the girls who like Ranma, but she's very funny in this and this is the first of the wacky martial arts contests. I laughed several times in this one.

It's funny that they try to make every Ranma girl likeable to some extent, except for Kodachi. She's flat-out psycho, and just becomes a running gag by the end of the series.
They could try to make her more likable in the remake, but I doubt it.

That or
The vibes I get are: "I'm so pretty, I scare myself sometimes," or "I must be a chosen one; how else do you explain how pretty I am?"

I don't really understand the point of a remake that tells the exact same story in the exact same way.
