Last couple of Watamote chapters have been fun, everyone getting to do their thing
Yuri being a movie snob, telling one of her friends she sounds like a prostitute, then saying how much she hates children, bc Yuri don't give a fuck.
Nemo still desperately trying to believe she lives in a CGDCT anime, and instead just being cringe.
Asuka and Tomoko have gone from already hanging out a lot to now basically being attached at the hip. Just date already.
Tomoko getting a little cocky from her video getting a bunch of views would normally be leading up to her inevitable faceplant, but this time seems a bit deserved? It's good for her to be proud of something, she's been pushing herself out of her comfort zone!
Could definitely see the manga working towards an ending, though there's still an awful lot of ongoing plot lines up in the air.

A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.
That was a very good episode of television that elevated the source material.
I think the final leg of the Turbo Granny fight also did that and it's quite impressive that they're able to pull that off twice in such a small timeframe

Dandadan was so good. I'm really liking this show.
Dandadan makes me think of Gintama when it comes to the antagonist/villain. They aren't bad/evil for the sake of it but instead have more meaning to their actions that drove them to what they do.
Or I'm totally wrong and misremembering Gintama since it's been so long since I've watched it. I just remember most of the villains have a mostly sympathetic backstory.
I haven't watched the most recent episode of the most notorious talker. I've kind of bounced off of the show. Just not into it.
I saw the Overlord movie in theaters.
It was pretty good. I enjoyed the running gag of trying to get people to talk about rune weapons and failing miserably because Neia refused to talk about it because she thought it was some important secret.
I am having a hard time with the brutality of the movie and show in general. In the movie the princess is used as a bludgeoning weapon and they made sure to be graphic with it.
I get they are the villains and from the very beginning were pretty horrific but showing it out in the open has gotten pretty uncomfortable. I think I'd be very concerned if this show didn't make me feel that way but it is getting hard to watch.
Part ofmewants to spoil it and see if Nazarick ever faces anykindofconsequences.

I hopped off the Overlord train two seasons ago. At some point it just became suffering for suffering's sake.
All I remember from Gintama are the baffling jokes and references that probably made a lot more sense if you were Japanese.
Gintama was great, the plot didnt make a lot of sense, because it started as a serious sci-fi, meeting of two worlds story but it inmediately turned into mostly comedy. Whenever they got serious, you just knew that one of the new characters, no matter how serious is initially portrayed, was going to end up being some kind of weirdo for the gag comedy side of the anime/manga.
The filler episodes, that didnt exist in the manga, were the best for me, because they could go as crazy or absurd as they wanted without caring about breaking the plot or anyones arc.
Yes, with a quick verbal "boom." You take a man's peko, you deny him his dab, all that is left is to rise up and tear down the walls of Jericho with a ".....not!" -TexiKen

I really enjoyed in the latest chapter when...
...after Tomoko had stolen the mascot costume and had just been unmasked and chastised for it, that as soon as she saw the former student council president, she had to immediately put the mask back on and run up and wordlessly return the hug from so many chapters ago.

The story arcs have some drama sometimes, and there are also one-off episodes that are both hilarious and sad.
The Kabukicho arc has a sad backstory between one of the antagonists and Gintoki's landlady.
All the serious arcs related to Gintoki's past.
There's also the one episode of an old man with an old dog, and are both trying to live long enough so the other dies first, because they don't want the other to be alone.
the domestic violence is harder for me to watch than the episode 1 incident?
I think that was whatever criminal element that was handling her sex work. I think that the mother buying her daughter the dress cut into the money she was going to pay them and that was their monstrous response.

I just thought of something re: DDD7
The decision to make the prostitution less explicit was supposedly to adjust for TV sensibilities, but one can also now interpret it as: Silky's POV trying to hide/not think about the details of her job to protect her daughter's innocence.
The events of ep 7 are more realistic, difficult subject matter treated with nuance. It’s quality storytelling.
The events of ep 1 are typical anime bullshit that you have to try to handwave away when recommending this show to friends.
I'm waiting for the tragic backstory of the aliens that's probably coming before I cement my feelings on the introduction
Oh god are you going to lose your mind in Season 2 and the Space Globalists arc.
Because we sort of get that for the Serponians, but it absolutely does not go anywhere near tragic - for them.
That's reserved for Best Alien Girl Vamola, and when Momo finds out that past, well...remember how her grandmother talked about breaking through her limits?
Turns out that hurting innocents is a really good way to get Momo to do so.
I'm going to assume and fear that it's a Macross thing.

Recent Dandadan manga stuff (that’s been translated so far)
spoilers
I don’t know the background of Vamola yet, but first impressions is that the thought of a society that wears high tech kaiju costumes and bases all major decisions off of who would win in a full sized kaiju fight is hilarious

Who needs dialogue? Just incredible visual storytelling.
The other secret sauce in Dandadan: the flashbacks.

That was an amazingly animated and directed episode, but it was also super brutal to watch.
It hasn't been covered yet.
I can see why the author wouldn't want to explore it more, but that's unfortunate.
