I frankly hate the dub narrator for Kaguya. The overly serious tone of the JP one balances out the absurdity of the series overall premise really well.
What little I've heard of the dub seems to desperately want to one-up the absurdity which for me at least ruins a lot of the jokes.
Latest Kiyoshi reminds me that once again I am fascinated by how quickly it hit the ground running
And god, the art is just wonderfully dynamic and fluid.

Cross-posting from the Gunpla thread:
Oh hey, a nice big present to myself came in!
A few months back I saw this while looking at other anime-related stuff. I can't remember if someone here pointed out its existence, or another of my friends, or what, but it did show up!
Unfortunately, it took a hell of a bonk on the way here so one of the corners is pretty fucked up. But as I get older, I realize I really can't prevent that, so why worry?
Macross Plus was my first anime, truly. I went out and bought the VHS tapes and watched them quite a bit. I own both CDs of the music and wore those out too, playing them endlessly to fall asleep. It's the first time I ever heard explicit sex lyrics. And of course a bunch of other aspects. It was also a huge favorite of my youngest brother, who wanted to figure out how to make a Veritech in real life all his childhood.
Back's about what you would expect.
Or is it?
Mirroring the original CD covers and other aspects of the show, here we have Sharon Apple's logo.
I'll get to the main selling point later, but the add-on for this sucker is very much a series of high quality prints. These are the promotional images for the anime.
Oh, and a replica of the concert one-sheet.
You know, it's funny looking at that now, seeing it cite 2030. You could easily say that with the advancements of AI and vTubers in the last few years, we are actually heading towards a version of this future. Well, realistically, we've always been here - the themes of what it means to live and love in a rapidly advancing technological future where racial concerns are ever-present under the surface.. yeah, kind of a universal theme.
I didn't snap pictures of the front or the back of the Archive. They are pretty simple. Honestly, for some reason I thought this box set would come with vinyl records of the soundtrack, but I guess not.
Stars of the show:
I've legit never seen the cut down movie version. I here there's some new/different stuff in there.
The rest is a giant production archive book. Can't show it all for obvious reasons, but... still quite a thing.
So.. yeah! All in all, about what I was expecting, and I love this kind of artbook. I'm glad it was brough to my attention.
so I finally watched the new Uzumaki anime and boy howdy, I'd heard about the drop in quality after the first episode but it sure is something to actually see
I'm curious to know what happened behind the scenes

I love Macross Plus, but I couldn't bring myself to throw down that kind of cheddar. Glad the set looks great, though.
(And it actually looks like the extra stuff was worth it, unlike the $800 LotGH one.)
That said, I'm not holding back when they announce Frontier's release.

better written than igloo is good but also a very low bar
My overall takeaway from iGloo wasn’t that war is hell or that everyone in the conflict is human, it was that the key to surviving the One Year War was to not get assigned to the 603rd .

When Ginpachi says “you’re bad apples,” in Japanese he says “you’re rotten oranges,” which is a reference to one of Kinpachi Sensei’s most famous scenes and stories. In series two, episode five, there’s a scene where Kinpachi is talking to a teacher called Yonekura who once taught a trouble student in his class called Kato. Although Yonekura did want to help Kato, being someone who understood Kato’s rough upbringing, he ultimately gave up on him, and harbours huge regret about it. He explains why by explaining what he calls “rotten orange logic,” describing Kato as a rotten orange which if left with the other oranges in a box, will spoil them. Kinpachi disagrees, stating that “Kato isn’t a orange, he’s a human being!”
During a scene in Kinpachi-sensei’s 4th special episode, aired in 1985, Kinpachi writes “人” on the classroom blackboard, and says to his students:
Can I have your attention, please. So, the character for "person" consists of one person holding up and sustaining another person. In other words, it is a "person" precisely because a person and another person are supporting each other. A person gets support from other people and their community, and through that support, grows and develops as a human.

The dub narrator fully understood the assignment.
Yeah, they go for completely different vibes, I feel like the JP one is deliberately hyper melodramatic in the style of, say, Gundam or LotGH.
What little I've heard of the dub seems to desperately want to one-up the absurdity which for me at least ruins a lot of the jokes.

I wonder how enthusiastic they'd be to go this route if they knew of the manga "Make the Exorcist Fall in Love".
Let's Play Final Fantasy 'II' (Ch10 - 5/17/10)

Also "transcen-dandy cha cha cha" is such a great name.
Two chapters remain, and I imagine one will be Ruby's reaction since we didn't get it this chapter.
Then the question is whether they're going to reincarnate Aqua, and if so, as who's kid?

Hearing Luffy's voice come out of the Turbo Granny cat was weird.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinpachi-sensei
It's a popular tv drama of a teacher who helps out students from 1979 to 2011. Gintama spoofed it with Ginpachi-sensei shorts in the past.
The "rotten orange/tangerine" line and the "person kanji" line are some of the famous quotes from the show.
