    OK so... that's really weird
    also "quote" isn't working?

Tell people fluff info about your role and die from it feeling very bitter afterwards even though it’s your own darn fault.

Not too late at all! We still have 9 or so slots free (I'd really like to get 30+ players if possible, but I'm sure I can scale it back a little if necessary)

    so, phallakinetic TLDR. !

Phallakinetic is a psionic themed scifi phalla that ed likes to pretend was intended to be standalone but instead got rolled into the exigency rpg setting that he played out on these very forums but nah it was exigency from outset dont deny it

exigency/PK its set in the very far future and/or a star wars type galaxy where there is no planet earth (or at least they dont know about it)

Broadly it has a sort xmen type thing going on with telepaths and telekinetics set against non psionic people. The twist or whatever you want to call it is that there tends to be a faction alternative win condition as well as ending the mafia-- so in the first game the psions can win by eliminating the non psions, and so on

The basic plot is that a handful of psions awoke to insane stupid overpowered powers... these are the transmuters, who can warp reality instead of the more 'grounded' stuff that telekinetics and telpaths can usually do. This causes chaos in the setting

A famous one is the Renegade, a psi serial killer, and his eternal rival kwychen (sp?) who has similar powers but wants to kill him

But transmuters... dont stay dead. Theyre a real problem for the settings movers nd shakers

    timeline:

    - the Conglomerate, hundreds of years ago, just a flavor thing not in the games. But they are part of reason psions are around as they tried to engineer and monetize them

    - end cult war << I think this game is here as its a prequel? So we're all in the dark here

    - Miniphalla, prelude, the Renegade appears

    - The New renegade game, introducing a new transmuter and telling us about Kwychen, the original renegade (Rends) rival

    - The other games were clusterfucks because some jackass had a powerful role and kept fucking things up. We're still trying to find him

    - With the Finale game the cult came back.. and won and ruined everything, and yet we have a prequel instead of a sequel WHATS THAT ALL ABOUT ED

    The actual summary of phallakinetic:

    There is a murderbot.

And it has to calibrate its empathy chip.

I am pretty sure it was Murderbot and the fun I had with it that caused me to try and find a way to do a thematic serial killer mechanic in each of my games.

If we start by tomorrow I can still play, but if not I’m going to have to drop out. My maternity leave ran out and we’re bumping up against chaos time at work.

@Gizzy, sorry to hear it! I'm afraid I told everyone I'd start the game with at least 48hrs notice so I can't really start in time for that... apologies that this took so long to start

But for the rest of the thread, I think I'll lock in and start the game in a day or two, and just accept that I'll have to scale down for 23 players (unless we get very lucky). I might cut out a mechanic or two (which might be for the best, it's been a while since I did this)

Glad you've enjoyed going back through the archive! I think Prelude is probably my favourite game overall but The New Renegade comes incredibly close: plus it was probably the best balanced of the mains I ran. Things got a little out of hand later on

I'll stop myself from triple-posting but hi Gumpy! Hope you've been doing alright. It's a real shame you're not around for this, you (and Rend, of course!) played the game like master tacticians and had a commitment to RP that left some of my "proper" RPG sessions in the dust

50 wasn't even abnormal! The biggest ones would break 100 iirc, but I think we averaged around 50-60 for a long while?

yeah i deffo remember one with something insane, like 125, but I do know ed was one of the mad hosts whod always have even the vanillagers have abilities

And at the risk of complicating things, nd i get that it might be a bad idea that makes things worse so say if thats the case, would it make sense/help anyone to push the start back til next week or something

It's funny, I was just telling a friend of mine about the phalla days about a month ago or so. 50 or 60 people, often more, ready to jump in and play the game you designed, what an incredible laboratory for budding designers. No wonder the wait list to run one was like, over a year long.

I love designing and writing phallas. And felt I was good at it!

I hate running them and counting votes, though. I only did the last one because @3cl1ps3 helped me run it by counting votes and keeping track of mechanics.
